Two years since this video was shot and it continues to inspire me completely. This truly is one of the best videos ever made. It really does deserve better recognition. It inspired me to come up with the Choose Corrour t-shirt which has sold over 50 to people as far afield as Australia, Canada and the USA. It inspired me to listen to the music of Wolf Alice. I have now seen them live where they performed the song from this video and it just meant so much when I heard it. I listen to this track every morning on my walk to work as it makes me happy because it reminds me of this video.
Every time I wear my Choose Corrour shirt I get to explain it & make another nerd feel better. Wolf Alice is FORKING amazing, and I am so glad I got introduced to them. When I got to have dinner with G & V and John my boyfriend (Tram Tram Tram), I wore my Choose Corrour shirt. Carpe diem. To thine own self be true. ❤️
I watched this video 6 years ago when it was released. Now I rewatched it, after having visited Corrour today myself for first time. The message of this video is still relevant. I chose Corrour 6 years ago, but only now I did what I had chosen. And it felt great. Partly just the location and feelings caused by it, partly by the wider meaning it had, and will, symbolise. Now Corrour is ticked, but there's many more corrours to be ticked in the future. Thanks for inspiring me, Geoff. This week on UK's railways has made me feel much better.
Wow! Sometimes achieving a dream can be a minor disappointment, but certainly not here. Your words and philosophy and even honest self-discovery are so uplifting, Geoff. Corrour is a magical place. This has to be the highlight of the trip, and like all the others viewing it, months or years later, it makes us all grateful to be alive, and to experience the wonders of Creation. To the trains!
I can't believe it's taken me so long to come across this video but I truly believe everybody who is ever doubting themselves or a decision they have made or wanting to make need to watch this video...the passion you portray Geoff solely through those clips will resonate with every single human being on this planet irrespective of whether they are into trains or not and for that I shan't salute you..I will I'm fact virtually shake your hand because you are true gentleman and a class human being
Don't know how I missed this one, only just watched it. Great Video, I'm buying the T shirt! When I was standing on a platform with some mates in Gent (Belgium) and a lady asked me where to go for a train to Antwerp I got a lot of weird expressions from my travelling companions when I instantly knew the answer. Yet, many many years later who is the person everyone comes to for travel advice .................
Changing careers, tons of uncertainty, been feeling down and unable to sleep for weeks. Finally got around to watching this video and I feel like things will work out, that I can rest easy tonight. Thanks, Geoff. Came across your work with Secrets of the Underground whilst planning a trip to London; never thought my nerdy interest in railways would become the thing I needed to see for inspiration.
I think I know exactly what you were saying here. As a 15 year old in 1980, my father travelled to Inveraray to do some work and thankfully, he took me with him. As a train enthusiast, he trusted me enough to travel on my own on the West Highland line one day. So dropping me off on my own at Arrochar, off I went to Mallaig. This particular station absolutely fascinated me. It seemed so remote. I can remember a lady waiting at the station who saw her two children off on the train. I think she lived in the cottage at the station. I went back in 2009 and stayed in the guest house. It wasn't there in 1980! This place is incredible. Like a wilderness. I think it's much busier than it was back in 1980. Plenty of walkers get off and use the cafe. Just try going for a walk as the sun sets. All you can see are the lights of the station from afar. Just don't let it get too dark like we did. It was kinda scary trying to find our way back as the light faded.
Amazing video Geoff, I will follow my dreams. At school I have been called many things for liking trains and buses. If I like trains and buses that is what I like, there is not a set thing to like these days. I can like what I want and not to be told by other people that I am wears for liking it
Having watched your videos for years I'm not sure how I only found this video last week. Since then Ive watched it three times and it just encapsulates lots of the way I feel about having an interest in infrastructure! Thank you for all your videos and especially for creating this one!
I unashamedly LOVE being a geeky railway train nerd, ever since i was a kid, from the london underground to national rail and all of the above. I just love the feeling of getting on a train and going on an adventure. And I unashamedly LOVE this video.
This resonated with me when i saw it last year. So much so that I recently accepted a job working for a rail company after several years working in an office. Thanks Geoff. This has literally changed my career and job prospects, from this video. You made me reassess my priorities. ❤
Geoff, such an unexpectedly heartfelt and personal video. I absolutely enjoy all your videos, but this something special. Thank you for taking us all on your amazing journey!
awwww!!!! That chat at the start made me emotional for some weird reason, I now can add too more things to my bucket list: 1:Visit Corrour Station , 2: Find time to travel down to london and have a chat with Geoff!!!
Jonathan Cook I actually bumped into Geoff once on the tube while he was doing a video. Lovely bloke, he was more than happy to chat and seemed genuinely chuffed to be recognized.
Which is great....but im still waiting for a response from the email I sent.... Its like im waiting for an angel in the sky to reply. I don't know why, but I have to meet this man.
My family sometimes don't understand why I like travelling by train so much, it's something I've loved since I was younger and we would go and visit all these heritage steam railways. I'm not a trainspotter unless it's a HST, then my eyes light up like a child who is about to be given some candy. I'm still at the stage of my life when I'm still learning and figuring out what's what but I think railways are something I'll stick with for a while. Great video Geoff, really inspirational. p.s. I went to Corrour when I was in the scouts, we stayed at the youth hostel at Loch Ossian and walked about the area, good memories. :)
Corrour, courage, carriage...marriage. :) Who knew all those many years ago?! That is one stunning location and some kicking drone footage - wah! It is something to see it all out in the middle of nowhere, but I guess it's a popular hiking destination?
That's the cool thing about us nerds. We each have our own interest and way of approaching it, and we love connecting with other nerds...because they always have something fascinating and well thought out to offer. :)
Now that's about 50 minutes of my life I have been watching this for!! I can't stop watching it! Its just amazing and the editing is abserloutley beautiful!
This is why I am one of the few teens who love trains. Despite only having 2 people to talk about trains with it is the best hobby and passion as it takes you to extraordinary places people rarely see or in some cases dont ever see
Only just discovered this item, despite being subscribed to this channel for some time. Likewise, I am not a trainspotter (though I do know some), but I love trains, and travelling on them. The more 'pointless' the journey, the better, it has to be for the whole joy of it. I love travelling through Scotland, not just for the stunning scenery, but to be in awe of the people that built these lines. Let's face it, many of us would have given up or not even bothered in the first place. Keep up the good work you two, and keep inspiring me to enjoy those long parallel lines of steel that snake around our country :)
This is one of the most beautiful videos I've seen on this platform and I'm genuinely sad that I didn't see this when it came out. Thank you for staring your story with us Geoff.
I unashamedly love the railways, not in a trainspotter way, just the whole experience of trains. The trip, and the destination. That is what All the Stations, and most importantly you, Geoff, have taught me. You are an idol of mine for the way you live your life. You love what you do and use that as fuel to guide you forward. There aren't enough people like yourself in this world.
Yes be happy with what ever you do, if we only learn one thing in life its be happy. There will be times when your unhappiness will be almost unbearable but the goods times will return even if the unhappy memory’s are never completely forgotten. Those we loose will be with us on our new good times.
Do I have a new favourite video on UA-cam? Watched 3 times and I think so. Amazing video, well shot and edited and short film with a great, positive message. It's weird to think that a single railway station in the west of Scotland with no roads could be such an icon and having been once I cannot help opening the Sleeper timetable every so often to see when I can get back.
Geoff, as an 18 year old your videos have allowed me to realize my interests in railways, maps, networks, etc. much the same way as you have. Thank you for doing what you do to help, in a way, a younger version of yourself.
I applaud to your frankness. It takes a lot to open up and admit that you like that one thing that "general public" just don't get or find strange / geeky.
in the holidays i take the train to Edinburgh to meet family and every time as I approach Edinburgh I find myself watching this, something about it perfectly encapsulates the late night lit up scenery of the castle and the new town and the journey itself, talking to staff, going over the bridge at Newcastle, peeking inside the NRM at york. Quite the contrast to the silent isolated quaint highlands, but i feel the energy this video encapsulates is shared with the idea of a journey itself.
Amazing video, so well edited and with a really meaningful message. Realised how much I have in common, Geoff as regards a real interest in railways. I have been through Corrour a few times by train but never got off so there's a new challenge for me.
This is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. Also thank you for showing me, and I am sure I am not alone, that it IS cool to be interested in railways. All my life I have been interested in railways, and I wanted to study transportation patterns at university, but friends and teachers suggested I didn't, so I have been studying geography for the past two years instead, but All The Stations really has inspired me to do something I want to do, so I have applied to do a masters in Transport Planning. This inspiration has came at an important time in my life, thank you so much!!!
From tiny seeds mighty oaks do grow. All I wanted to do growing up was be a train driver but unfortunately my eyes are about as good as Southern's punctuality! All the best in your future endeavours. You only get out what you put in to it!
Watched this video at least 5 times. I think, it's the best on this channel. The whole "all-the-stations"-series inspired me to do the same thing. But just in my home town in Germany. I visited all bus and tram stops in "Bochum" and it took me 4 days. I'd really like to go on such an adventure. I've learned so much about the railways in Britain and also the London Underground. Maybe more than most of the people living in Britain and especially London :D Thank you Geoff for your videos and your inspirations. Hoping to see much more railway related videos on your channel!
Thanks so much for sharing your story. I've always been the weird guy who has some unusual hobbies (unicycles, amateur radio, playing euphonium, and ridding roller coasters), but you can usually find someone else who has a similar interest to share with!
With you on this Geoff. I planned a Stafford to Penzance and back in 23hrs 52mins no HSTs back in 1982, via Crewe, Cardiff, got station stamps, then completed all the stations in WMPTE day ranger area including all the junctions and diversion routes... Loved it, Devon and Cornwall next.....
I think I found purpose of my life at last, and my hero (and icon). Yes, Geoff, you're unbelievable and amazing. Only channel I am subscribed to. You are my inspiration. Hopefully, will meet you one day. Love from India.
I was bullied about liking trains but watching this video has really encouraged me that it does not matter and that it is my opinion and no one else's. Tanks Geoff and Viki
In the last 10 to 15 years I've got heavily into history as a hobby and I enjoy your videos because they are part of history the places you visit. Your style of video is very entertaining and educational. Also your videos making my depression a lot easier to cope with.
I've just stumbled upon this video, i must admit everything you said geoff is true. Very well said! Screw what anyone says and do what you want to do if it makes you happy. Beautiful video and music too Corrour is on my bucket list after this 👍🏼👍🏼
Brilliant. Great music from a great film too. Very good editing to flow with the music. You're getting good at this! I believe that appropriate music enhances these sort of montages, just watch it with the sound off and feel the difference.
I've had a lifelong interest in railways partly from my Father and partly from journeys taken as a child. I like both the vehicles and the infrastructure. I love the challenge of finding my way around although I now keep my interest to myself until people get to know me well.
I am a train nerd and I don't care what other people think! I will do what makes me happy even if its extremely boring for anyone else. Amazing Video Geoff! Your most inspirational video I have ever seen!
Dear Geoff, I keep coming back to this video It is so beautiful and sincere. And you play me so well in it. I accepted my nerdness about 15 years ago (and in my case it's about abandoned and demolished railways and closed stations, so lost infrastructure). Nerds rule! A Dutch singer has a song entitled "I am crazy, but you are normal". It's obvious which is worse. Thank you for taking me along on your journeys!
This is probably the best video I've ever seen on UA-cam. Very inspiring. I retire in a year, I'm taking your thoughts with me as i tour in my campervan and doing all those things I've been putting off for years. Brilliant and thought provoking.
Nicely done, Geoff. I'm a recent watcher but I'm happy that you can embrace the NERD. Nerd is supposed to be an insult but it really is the worst insult because all that's being said is "You're enthusiastic about something"
Excellent spiel, Geoff. I also fought me inner nerd throughout my younger years, before finally accepting it! Choose railways, choose atlases, choose ordinance survey maps. Choose getting up early on a Sunday morning to get on a Sunday only service. Choose Scotrail. Choose life!
Incredible video footage here and I really share your connection with the permanent way. For some strange reason someone was cutting onions at the time I was watching the drone footage of that train rounding the bend. Haven't seen a locomotive hauled train in the UK for quite some time. Brilliant Geoff. You've got a fan base here in Canada too.
What a wonderful video. I have only recently found your ATS episodes and I am now enjoying a few each evening with my cuppa tea. This one though was a real find. Excellent presentation and one for my Goosebump Files. Thank you so much and Cheers to you both from me. Clink!
Stunning video and definitely the most heartfelt. Being a railway enthusiast growing up is not popular, even the teachers get on the bandwagon of "haha you're a trainspotter" sometimes, but there are so many good things about the railways and it's what kickstarted the world communicating with more than just your local village to all but the elite few on horseback. Bravo
Fantastic advice about doing what you want to do, Geoff. Like you it has taken me until i was in my 40's to get that right in my life. very very honest words mate, thank you
Two years since this video was shot and it continues to inspire me completely. This truly is one of the best videos ever made. It really does deserve better recognition. The way this was edited.. beautiful, truly beautiful.

Beautiful. 6 minutes, but my favourite of the whole series. Well said, I almost shed a tear. Top tune too. Thanks.
Infrastructurespotting. Nothing wrong with that at all!
Oh - and this is an absolutely STUNNING video. Good job!
Wow! Sometimes achieving a dream can be a minor disappointment, but certainly not here. Your words and philosophy and even honest self-discovery are so uplifting, Geoff. Corrour is a magical place. 4:55-4:57 is the best moment of the whole ATS series.
Yaaas Wolf Alice - unbelievable to hear a favourite band of mine right now in the same world as Geoff and All The Stations, fab vid
One of the greatest videos on youtube, a profound message, beautiful Scottish backdrop and clever Trainspotting references.

Mate... every bit of this is actually the definition of everything! Obsessed!
One word to describe the drone shots: Beautiful.
Having watched your videos for years I'm not sure how I only found this video last week. Since then Ive watched it three times and it just encapsulates lots of the way I feel about having an interest in infrastructure!
Thank you for all your videos and especially for creating this one!
thank you!

I am not a train spotter either. Like you I am interested in how railways operate. I realised my dream of becoming a guard on the Severn Valley Raiway
I love Geoff's little dance at 5:16.
A wonderful video! Well done guys
4:55 - This is just amazing. Everything is so emotional!
Geoff this video is outstanding. Yes the Highlands are worth a visit. And Corour in special. I do share the hobby and it is great doing so!

Six minutes and eighteen seconds of the truth. Well done.

A beautifully made video with an important message. I have goosebumps from watching this, it really hit a chord. Keep up the excellent work.
Choose Corrour!
Fearlessly choose the path or track ☺ that makes you happy.
Wonderful uplifting Life advice.
Corrour, courage, carriage...marriage. :) Who knew all those many years ago?! That is one stunning location and some kicking drone footage - wah! It is something to see it all out in the middle of nowhere, but I guess it's a popular hiking destination?
I love this, done so well and we need more people like you in this world, thank you so much Geoff

Back again, after 2 yrs.. after watching Geoff's latest one showing trip down the memory lane.. hats off to you Geoff. You're incredible. ❤️
Love this one. Great use of a great Wolf Alice track.
This is why I am one of the few teens who love trains. Despite only having 2 people to talk about trains with it is the best hobby and passion as it takes you to extraordinary places people rarely see or in some cases dont ever see
Thank you Geoff, for saying what’s long been, unformed, in my head. Network nerds rock.
Absolutely outstanding Geoff! Thank you.
I love all of your videos Geoff, but this is undoubtedly my favourite. Thanks for everything you do.

Brilliant. Keep on doing it.
Some video for a nerd. More like a professional film maker.
That was amazing. Sorry if that sound sycophantic but it was amazing.
This is one of the most beautiful videos I've seen on this platform and I'm genuinely sad that I didn't see this when it came out. Thank you for staring your story with us Geoff.
This is the best video you have ever made, thank you!
Superb Geoff. Like a manifesto, delivered at the summit of the west highland line.
God dam you Geoff. You almost brought a tear to my eye when you went to hold hands. Stunning video
Just about the best youtube video everrrr!!

Really beautiful and inspiring video
Watched this video at least 5 times. I think, it's the best on this channel.

Thank you Geoff for your videos and your inspirations. Hoping to see much more railway related videos on your channel!
Fantastic film and as a Tasmanian whose railways have been trashed this makes me nostalgic for my own English style heritage. Love every video,
I really enjoy to watch all your videos, but this one..... is something special. Fantastic 👍
I join your mom, Geoff. I too "welled up all tearful." Beautiful video. Thank you.
Thanks so much for sharing your story. I've always been the weird guy who has some unusual hobbies (unicycles, amateur radio, playing euphonium, and ridding roller coasters), but you can usually find someone else who has a similar interest to share with!

The sort of thing I want on my wall
I think I found purpose of my life at last, and my hero (and icon). Yes, Geoff, you're unbelievable and amazing. Only channel I am subscribed to. You are my inspiration. Hopefully, will meet you one day. Love from India.

In the last 10 to 15 years I've got heavily into history as a hobby and I enjoy your videos because they are part of history the places you visit. Your style of video is very entertaining and educational.
Also your videos making my depression a lot easier to cope with.
I ration when I watch this video to when I am in the exactly the right mood; the mood being a balance of hope of joy, and the need to cry.
This is the best, well done - entertaining & moving in a short film is a tough ask. And yes, happy to be a railway fan!
To this day this video still inspires me.
I've just stumbled upon this video, i must admit everything you said geoff is true. Very well said! Screw what anyone says and do what you want to do if it makes you happy. Beautiful video and music too

A beautiful and moving piece of art. The best thing that you have ever done. Obviously from the heart.
I have loved all your videos, but this one is the one that made me cry. Thank you for taking the time to create it. Just wonderful.
Thank you for taking me along on your journeys!
by far your best video; the music, the film reference, the speech and most importantly the station
Thanks Geoff, you are an inspiration to us all. Can't believe, 40"s? You"d pass for 20 something!
This is probably the best video I've ever seen on UA-cam. Very inspiring. I retire in a year, I'm taking your thoughts with me as i tour in my campervan and doing all those things I've been putting off for years. Brilliant and thought provoking.
Wow, lump in the throat and a wee tear in the eye
Possibly the best yet. Great video.
Bloody brilliant! Just bloody brilliant!
This video is finally back! It's possibly my favorite video on the whole of UA-cam and I was very disappointed it was gone.
Consider me impressed by this truly gorgeous video! This put a tear in my eye. Wow!
I think my favourite video on UA-cam.
This video sums up the whole series in six wonderful minutes. Brilliant.
Me and my wife are booked to stay there for our silver anniversary in September. Staying in the signal box accommodation. Can wait :-)
