I work and live in this area. The twins are famous for being very dangerous. When I was a kid, there was a sign on the trees next to the cave that warned divers and had the number of known deaths inside the system. I'll never understand why open water divers decide it's a good idea to cave dive. There are signs posted warning divers that if you aren't cave certified to go no further. And yet, they continue to ignore the warnings. Thereby getting lost and either dying or need rescuing. They're not just putting their own lives at risk but the rescuers lives also.

Ed is an absolute legend! Especially in the dive community here in Florida! I remember when I was 13 and doing a dive at the sinkhole Blue Grotto in Florida. We had just pulled out of the water for lunch when we received word that there was a diver trapped in Eagle's Nest Cave system about an hour away. Sadly, despite all of us being certified rescue divers (yes, you only have to be 12 to enlist in rescue diver training), only our dive master had the training to even enter cave passages and even then he wasn't trained in cave rescue. Ed ended up responding to that call. The year before, I had been on another dive to the sinkhole Devil's Den. While we were in the water, a call came in for rescuing a panicked diver at Blue Grotto! That diver wasnt actually trapped in the cave system. Blue Grotto (and Devils Den) can both be dove as normal open water locations without entering the cave systems. This diver got narced around 100ft and became separated from their dive buddies. Thankfully, that diver was found in the water, alive, frantically swimming in circles fighting to remain conscious. Due to my groups location, if we had been out of the water when that call came in, we probably would have respond

Even Ed knows, and has accepted that, in all likelihood, he will meet his end prematurely while cave diving. He's literally the best, inhuman to be frank. I believe that there is some unnatural factor that makes him the perfect cave diver. But when you do it so much, for so long, it's practically inevitable, no matter how good you are. The best of the best have always ended up the same if they kept diving harder caves and doing recoveries. It may seem morbid, and if anyone can do it, it's Ed, but cave diving WILL end in your death after enough dives, given that you aren't a literal PERFECT diver. Everyone makes mistakes, especially those who become content, and in cave diving, sometimes all it takes is pure bad luck, even in a perfect situation, and it's all over, with you unable to do anything about it. Ed is a damn GOD for the work he does, and anyone who's religious should pray that he continues to save lives as long as he can, because theres something innate in that man that will likely never exist again...

You should find a story on Eagle's nest in florida and make a video about it! I hear its the mount everest of cave dives. Very interesting reading material

Very good video. Edd is truly amazing. I like it that you stated the facts in telling this story and didn’t sensationalize what happened.

I love Edd Sorensen. He is a true role model, a legend, and a hero! I’ve never admired a man as I do him. We need more people like Edd for our youth to look up to and learn from. Edd, you’re a legend. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. You’re loved by many.

The footage of the diver gliding along is MESMERIZING!!!! 😵‍💫😵‍💫🙂 2:00 (BUT silting it out is a TERRIFYING thought!!)😱😱 I can’t even FATHOM what that would feel like!!

I have seen so many stories about Ed. He has no concern for himself when he’s looking for somebody or even when he’s doing a body recovery. It’s crazy to have nerves of steel like that.

Way to go!! I am very happy this story had a happy ending, I was beginning to think it was an incident report. I am a PADI MSDT and I know not to go into caves, caverns ok, but not caves. I did get to do some diving in the cenotes in Aqumal Mexico under the guidance of a certified cave diving expert. Incredible dives but you have to do it properly.

Edd really deserves more than a pat on the back but, the more I watch these cave diving stories the more I want to cave dive, just learning from others mistakes :)

He does, but something tells me he wouldn't take it. This is the type of person who quietly does the right thing, regardless of whether a camera is rolling or anyone is even watching, because that's what needs to be done. That's all the reward he needs. A cut above the rest of us, for damn sure.
