Chris is right, the albums don't compare to the live shows. I've been to double-digit live shows by now and I thoroughly enjoyed them when I was younger (I'm 32 now oh god...) because I just enjoyed the sense of community of everyone singing their hearts out and obviously the music. But several years ago I had an eye opening thought when he was singing "Stolen" in Nashville (the Ryman I think). And I was thinking about the emotions that song made me feel, the memories it brought back. Falling in love, falling out of love, heartbreak, etc. And I looked around and saw all these people singing along with their eyes closed and it hit me hard that all these people likely had the same experiences I did. Music transcends entertainment, and it couldn't be more clear than when you simultaneously connect with 1800+ people in a beautiful venue in Nashville. Thanks Chris.
How can you not remember if it was the Ryman or not? It's only one of the top 5 most legendary venues of all time. I don't live in Nashville, but seeing a show there is on my bucket list.
@@inflago because I've seen Dashboard in at least 3 venues in Nashville. The Ryman at least twice. The years kinda all blurred together in my twenties lol.
@@hanusaurusrex Ha, that's fair. I'm dying to go to the Ryman at least once, and I know I would never forget the experience, but if I lived in Nashville, I could see forgetting a specific concert there if I went there all the time.
Chris, I'm 65 and had never heard of you before this interview with Ball (I forgot first name). I loved your outlook in the process of writing and succeeding in the live theater performance and winning over the audience. Letting it all hang out and baring your soul. I just had to check you out. I'm proud to say I'm glad I gave a listen. God bless you and enjoy your musical journey.
After a long day of listening to Death Metal I use Dashboard to ground myself and bring me back to earth. In fact, I listen to him/them more than any artist, and I have done so for 10+ years. He's amazing!
Been listening to Chris's music since I was a teenager. Been to a few shows. Nothing beats the "old" college shows he played where it was just him and a guitar in the early 2000's. Nice to see his music trending back towards that.
From the start, I always consider Chris a high class poet with on-par guitar and straining/passionate, off-pitch (although that was part of his charm) vocal abilities, and he knew it, as well. But, I have to say I am impressed with how he has grown musically (seriously) and vocally, playing still to the slightly of key, but it is now seemly on purpose with a certain gravitas and control. Hats off (dude lose the hat) to you sir!
Does this mean that the Ringer is going to do a history of emo series? Ya know, some articles about what exactly happened between 2000-2006, the emo years?
I love CC but I feel like at times he’s trying way too hard to make everything his own(I know it is all his lol) and it hinders his performance a bit. He’s AMAZING I’m not saying otherwise
Wtf with the hair and the hat and the voice. The face lift too... he's literally crying on hands down. I love the guy but jesus this is too much, he needs help
Yeah, his hair screams mid-life crises. I also think he can sing just fine, but he needs to stop the "show-offy" screaming parts. He can't pull them off. They were always kind of cringey in the first place.
Swannie damn y’all are petty. Judging his look and talking about his voice. Bruh he’s been screaming and singing for 20+ years. What have you been doing with your life?
@@skatevidcentral like I'm the one in denial here. He hits even higher notes nowadays, just try and sing the original and then the live versions of his songs, you'll see what I mean.

Simply a truly wonderful video with an amazingly gifted musician.
so many feelings and memories coming back
This was what I needed today

Saw him playing in Brazil six years ago and it was an amazing experience. If you're reading, Chris, we'd love to have you back over here.
This brings back all my good memories
This is pretty spectacular
Something may lost but the soul is still there...thank you for being part of our teenage days....:)
I really, really love this series of videos!

Chris ❤
Chris looks more emo now than he did back 2002!
Rigjt? I swear he’s had plastic surgery
Wow 🤩
💝
He has changed so much, I just miss the old DC
Me too. Mike and all the others :(
Everybody changes.
Why did this take me back to when I used to dream about marring him 😍🥰
Damn!💯
❤❤❤❤
Insanely talented, but this hair makes me question everything.
I mean, it wasn't expected?
what kind of hat is that?
Is it odd that a 49 yr old man into emo still is jamming to Dashboard Confessional? Yea? Oh well eat me.

dude what happened
Why is he dressed like he’s about sell me an over priced painting on gender fluidity he did himsel?
Shit this made me bust up hahaha
LOL.
So much dumb comments here, kinda makes me sad for all of the people that don't understand shit and only like to hate on things

Something happened to his voice, he can't hit the high notes anymore. Shame.
just imagine yourself singing like this, everyday, for 20 plus years.
n1ko id imagine it just gets better. Bert McCracken and Adam Lazara both said the more you do it the easier it gets.
Another dumb comment, since his voice is better than it ever was
@@renancoelho6831 lol keep living in denial. Objectively he cannot hit the high notes anymore and sounds hoarse.

The obvious fact that he had work done makes me like him less. Could've aged gracefully like, you know, a human.
He some kind like a jew now.
Just not a good live performer. Some just cant pull it off.
