I love his passion when it comes to creating music and with all experiences over the years, sometimes he lost that richness to his voice but you can't lie to yourself he's the man, he's DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL.
"sometimes he lost that richness to his voice" I think its just the recording or environment. He has done studio acoustic performances since and been amazing. I saw them live in like 2006 and its still my favorite concert Ive been to.
@@lyleaustin2112 His name is Mike Marsh. He was their drummer until 2015. This current drummer is good, but Mike Marsh is so underrated and on another level. He's currently the drummer for The Avett Brothers.

'' One last step before hibernation '' - stolen - with this quarantine, hope things'll get better soon. in the meantime, Dashboard is amazing and excited for the montreal show!
Great set! Can't wait to see you guys with Counting Crows!!! I do think your solo acoustic work is the best ever. Different to listen to it with a full band
Those JCM800s looks so lonesome without having guitars plugged into them. Good thing the stage is loaded with awesome vintage guitars and amazing playing. Sweet vibe having a couple Marshalls there even if the rig is plugged into a Fractal or whatever. Awesome concert---watched three or four times at this point. Almost as many times as Conor Oberst live at House of Blues 2014.
My favorite part about being in a pop punk band like 20 years ago was that big dumb over the top ending to the last song on the set. Good times. Well done Chris.
sounds like Chris’s monitor mix was delayed or something, the whole band was messed up and I know these dudes can play, so there had to be some technical dificulties.
Probably the mics where staged with a lot of gain. So there is a lot of phase cancelation becouse the mics captured so much sound of other instruments. There are not so much low frecuencies in the mix, and those are the frecuencies that normally cancel becouse of the issues that I mentioned.
Love Dashboard, but this is a very rough performance with a lot of mistakes and mess ups. His voice is very off key at times. Still love it, but he should really do more acoustic stuff mixed in and tighten up the set.
@DiscoFalcon Well as with any music it isn't flat if you wrote it that way, but usually is if you wrote a song one way and perform it decently off from the originally unless I guess if it is completely intended to be that way. But yeah haha
I agree with @DiscoFalcon that singing those high notes without the proper technique will destroy your chords. I know of a lot of bands who will try to take a break with the songs by having other singers come in from other bands and sing with them (done a lot at warped tour) or have the crowd sing instead of them during certain parts which isn't just a "sing with me" kinda thing. I love this band and I'm so sad his voice didn't stay consistent the whole way through. Vindicated and Hands Down are all time favorite songs of mine =/
@@meowstube6899 konsekuensi bikin lagu dgn high note dan seiring menuanya Chris, tapi ttp di umur doi yg hampir 50 thn jarang loh yg bisa nyanyi kayk doi yg masih nyampe notes setinggi gitu
In these instances I can relate as a musician. Either the vocalist didn't warm up this day or just is taking a while to feel comfortable, maybe it was the wrong set list who actually knows what's going on here? All us fans know you guys can sound great. It could be they haven't played together in a while so not every show is going to be the greatest. Also just the pressure to sound better can mess with you while your trying to focus. This is partially why it can help when the audience sings to take full focus off the singer or even to get the full attention off his voice for a second. Slowing down the song can help the singer, that's for drummers by the way. Sometimes the song is just simply too fast to get warmed up in the moment and if things don't slow down and the singer isn't warmed up, whoops....Even with all these things in mind I can't fully say what happened here. Music is crazy maybe some one was sad that day.
You don't need to sound great to be emo!!! ///.- hahaha! lol just kidding, totally understand you brother.. we all know they sound better than this, but the fact that still got shows just makes my heart go teary eyed. hahaha! Hope there's more shows for the emo scene again haha! They sound rusty already, but still so good..
I think the reality is (1) Chris is getting old. He’s pushing 50. Your singing voice naturally changes over the years. (2) Chris sang for yeeears in the stratosphere, at the tip top of his range. You can’t expect any voice not to be affected by that long term. He’s still a great musician, his songs are immortal, and he’s forever the king of emo. But he just can’t sing the same way he used to. To be fair, he can still sing. His range is just more limited.
Fact, every band has show's like this from time to time. Ya just push through it. Your next show may very well be you best!! To be a good band/musician requires a very Short Memory! Ha!
There something happened on his voice. Maybe thst is the reason why does they stop for awhile? Not sure about the reason but his voice is totally different from before. Watched those lives from their past concerts ans his voice is like the recorded ones
i saw Dashboard Confessional open for Face to Face (I think)... it might have been 2001/2002. Just Chris with a guitar and a bassist. The crowd threw stuff at him. I saw him again, maybe in 2007, with a full band, that show was with Anathallo (who were fantastic). And now this. Vocally, I think he is really unappreciated but he's best when it's simple on stage. (and REALLY best with Further Seems Forever). .less is best.
What in the hell happened during saints and sailors. It’s like Chris had problems with his in ears and was all over the place. I never heard them mess up like that before

10/10 to Drummer 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
His name escapes me at the moment but the drummer from the infamous MTV Dashboard Unplugged show was also 10/10.
