  • Today we look at The Ancel S3000 Automotive Smoke Machine. The Ancel S3000 is a very convenient and easy to use Automotive Smoke Machine and Leak Detector for testing Vacuum Leaks, Evap Testing, Turbo leak detection and More. I will show you how to use the Ancel S3000 Smoke Machine and Leak Detector. This compact and easy to use Evap Leak Detector Smoke Machine from Ancel has many features that other Smoke Machines do not have. It has a built in air pump so you don't need to use an external air compressor. It use any easily available mineral oil or baby oil instead of some special chemicals for creating the smoke. It creates an adjustable amount of smoke and it does it very quickly. As I will show you in the video it creates smoke in less than 30 seconds. The amount of smoke or air flow is adjustable by you the user. The S3000 Smoke machine from Ancel includes a Air Flow meter, a pressure meter so you have complete control over the amount of air and smoke you create. You control how much air and smoke is put into the system that you are testing such as the Evap System Turbo, Coolant leaks, Oil Leak detection, etc. You can use this to pressurize a system and see if you have any leaks by checking for pressure decay (Seeing how long a given system will hold pressure). The Ancel S3000 Smoke machine and diagnostic leak detector comes everything you need for doing testing. It brings the Smoke Machine, Power Cord, sealing Cone and Bladder to help you seal off the test area, and a smoke distribution hose so you can deliver the smoke where you need it conveniently. I'll show you how easy it is to locate a leak using a smoke machine. I even found a leak I didn't know that I had while using this machine, as you'll see in the video.

    Nice demonstration.
I had to rewatch this to see if mine was working right.
They may have some quality control problems...
I bought one from amazon and it worked great for a day. The next day it worked for a little but then stopped producing smoke. I assume maybe the heating element burned out. Returned it for replacement and tried it out yesterday.
On this one, the flow control potentiometer doesnt do anything. The bubble in the gauge goes all the way up when turned up and turning the dial has no effect. Its probably disconnected inside but I'll just do one nore return and hopefully get a good one.

I'd love to have one capable of using shop air pressure of at least 120psi for tractor trailer air systems, especially fuel tanker air systems.

This does have a pretty strong air pump built in so it should do the trick. Saves the trouble of an air hose dangling.

They do exist . The Ancel S100 is the one you're looking for.
      No gauges though.

I'm not sure you need a whole 120psi. I think if there's a leak, there's simply a leak. It's not like systems are designed with leaks in then lol. That's why I'm here searching smoke machines. I'm fixing air leaks in giant cat scrapers. I've gone very far with soapy water, but even then it can be difficult to find some leaks. Rather than removing ever panel to search for small fittings inside the firewall. I can hook it to the supply hose and wait for a smoke trail

You arent going to be able to put pressure in the intake. The only way is if all the valves are in the closed position which is impossible. All you did was fill the area with smoke. Eventually that smoke would make its way out of the exhaust. Now if you did this test on an EVAP system with the vent commanded closed, then you could build pressure.

Yeah, it's only a demonstration not an actual test.

Mine came with black liquid ! Should i put it in instead of the oil? Or what?

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  Рік тому

Mine did not come with any liquid at all. I would read the bottle and the instructions before use. If it doesn't look right then just toss the liquid. Baby oil is super cheap to buy and will not damage the machine.

A quick note on these Chinese evap testers. They put out way to much pressure
for evap testing. The maximum pressure for the evap system is .5 psi or around
13.0 in. H20. The Ancel is putting out way over .5 psi. Anything over 7 psi
can damage pressure sensors and or blow off hoses. 14 psi is OK for intake
and exhaust testing but way to high for evap.

Was in a drinking game . . had to take a shot every time he said, “this guy.” Ended up in the ER with alcohol poisoning. It wasn’t pretty.
