Chicago Roofer is doing a live roof inspection for a leak call!

Join us as Robert Ciepiela the owner of Revived Exteriors does a leak inspection call in Buffalo Grove Illinois. At first it appears to be a skylight leak and then after further investigation, we learn that it’s improper installation of shingles which were high nailed. Basically, the nail line that’s intended to be hidden was not hit properly and it causes the shingles to slip out or get blown up by Nguyen. Much easier. It appears it was also repairs throughout the whole entire roof And those cause additional damage to the surrounding shingles. When’s the last time your roofer went up on your roof and gave you such a detailed explanation of what’s going on up there? My thoughts were to do a small repair or has nothing to do with the roof at all. Turns out I learned something after getting up there, can it be repaired? Yes, but not properly. It’ll be a Band-Aid for the existing leak, but the whole roof is done and passed its prime.

Time for a new roof. You have a bad install around four skylights, and the repair didn’t help if not create more damage so time to rip it all off and start from fresh.
The question is, is it worthwhile to do an insurance claim? When really the person who did repairs did a horrible job and that repair should’ve been a massive repair if not a whole new install.

That's how the system works with insurance. If it cannot be repaired in a workmanlike manner without creating further damage, it must be replaced

I have done roofing and now am getting into sales however it seems that leaks and bad craftsmanship Are very common. In ny where we are the roofs are just old for the most part- toutube does show a ton of bad work

You will run into crappy work. But knowing what is good or bad will make you stand out among all your peers
