    Glad someone else had the same idea as me! I was searching on youtube to see if anyone had made a video about homeschooling with google classroom yet and yours popped up. It really is a wonderful tool.

      So after watching a lot of brick and mortar teachers using google classroom I set up mine with weeks as topics and then put the date in the assignment title. So the topic will read (8/24-8/28) and then Tuesdays lesson would be named (8/25) Hurricane unit lesson 2. It probably wouldn't work for a kindergartener to do that, it'd be a little bit above their head but it's working with my newly 2nd grader no problem. Love that you're getting the word out on using google classroom though it is such a great resource.

      @@bethanynicole2604 I do something similar for my oldest daughter but rather than put the date, I number the assignments in order. That way if an assignment takes her more than one day or she doesn't get to it for whatever reason I'm not having to go back and re-date everything.

    Absolutely love this and never thought about using it for my own kids at home untils this year when I started using it for my homeschool co-op kids. I went looking and found your video!! I just want to clarify that all students do not need to have the same domain name in order to share a classroom.The only time the domain name becomes an issue is when setting up for a G-Suite for Education account and then all teachers (co-op teachers in our case) must have the same domain name. This never affects the students. Super great ideas here! Thanks so much!!

    Thank you for this, it's very helpful! Is there a way to view completed lessons/assignments for recordkeeping purposes, especially if you don't use grading?

    you are my kind of momma. I use google keep for our checklist. It would be a nice idea to have the checklist in the actual classroom as well. No excuses. I think there's a lot more to google classroom that I don't know about. I need major help to organize it and make it more effecient. I love these kinds of videos and wish there was alot more. Would you be open to collaborating with others to make a video about how each mom uses it and the differences and similarities?

    Good video! Are you able to print calendar/lesson plans? I like to have hard copies to place in binders for myself as backup.

      I have not figured out how to print out a paper copy, but, to be honest, I haven't really tried. One of the reasons that I started using Google classroom was to try to eliminate some of the wasted paper that we were creating in our homeschool. With 3 kids, and 3 paper calendars, there was a lot of paper getting thrown out at the end of the year that was really unnecessary for me.

      Are you able to send all the info to someone in an email in case asked by the state to show proof? I would love to eliminate paper as well.

    Great Video! What if it’s a daily assignment that has to be turned in do we have to go on everyday to set the deadline for that assignment? I dint see the option to make the assignment due daily

    Thank you so much for this thorough explanation, Jennifer. I'm interested in using Google calendar to plan/track lessons. Do you have any ideas on how to do this?

      Are you trying to use Google Calendar to track your lessons because you need to track attendance in your state? If you can give me a little more information about what you're trying to use it for I can try to come up with some ideas for you.

      @@jennifersanfilippo7169 I'm out of the country and we are not required to tracks lessons for state purposes. It's really for myself, just to make sure that I've covered the curriculum sufficiently. I'm a planner by nature so I alway like to know what I'm doing beforehand and what I've done in the past.

      @@mwanapate3065 Ok, in that case... putting it into Google Calendar is going to be WAY more time consuming and complicated than Google Classroom. Google Classroom can show you exactly what you are doing and when you need to do it and you can link your entries to Google Calendar by putting a "Due Date" on the assignment. I might not be explaining it well though- so let me know if you think a video on it will be helpful and I'll get something filmed and posted for you.

    I can't wait to set up my classroom. I LOVE the idea of doing everything by units. Do you also have your kids turn in their assignments online so you can keep a digital record? Thanks for the great video!

    • @jennifersanfilippo7169
      @jennifersanfilippo7169  3 роки тому

      I do! It makes it MUCH easier to keep track of their assignments instead of keeping a paper portfolio.

      I am interested to see how you do that. If you ever feel like sharing. I am doing a digital portfolio but it involves taking pics of things. If you have a simpler way that would help me!
