Hey all, stoked to finally finish this one up. Took a while with all the sketches, but glad I did them. This footage was a pain to stabilize as the wind here was seriously nuts and I apologize for some jittery shots :/. Hope you enjoy! PS: I've been wanting to add a few more GoPro / color grading tutorials in the future in addition to the hiking stuff.
@@cyruscrossan In 2009 I spent the summer in Scotland and did a bit of traveling in the Highlands. Like you, I am grateful for that experience. Your video brought me back to that magical time, thank you.
Wow, dude. Are you kidding with this footage? I know Scotland must make it a little easier, but this is just GORGEOUS! And especially the animals. The "wooly cows" are so amazing. This is so, so great. And again, your sketches are awesome. Your videos just keep getting better and better!
Cy, your award-deserving videos are splendid nature documentaries like this one on your hike to Cairn Gorm with its rare geographical landforms like the alpine semi-tundra plateau you described and your amazing artistic ability to catch these unique forms on paper! You are an awe-inspiring adventurer with your intelligent insights and depth of appreciation of nature. Happy Birthday and hope your birthday is as amazing as the inspirational nature around your hiking!
Thanks for virtually taking us to Cairngorms national Park. So many beautiful views. The landscape and mountains are so over the top. Wonderful narration and perfect sketch. Have a great day my friend.
Beautiful footages 👍You nailed the spirit of one of my Happy Place in Scotland but as you said don't let you fool by the proximity of the ski resort as you're on your own up there and can have severe weather condition year round on a blink of an eye!
Thank you! Yes, if I had more footage, I was debating on going into Cairgorm Plateau accident from 1971. Truly an awful story and really shows you the power of the conditions up there.
@@cyruscrossan Was a very poor judgement call from the 2 "leaders" to go there with kids in the winter as it's so exposed with no escape route at all 😔I will think twice and chose a 3 days perfect window at least to even try to go there! They even demolish the shelter there to supress the false sense of security as believe me you will never ever found it in a whiteout condition anyway! It's like toundra artic condition and mountaineers going to big expedition like Everest go there for training in harsh condition!
Hi! I was there with my sisters and their boyfriends this week and it was stunning! Absolutley beautiful landscape like from another world. We came from Czechia and for myself im gonna go back there for sure. We took Cairn Gorm trail loop, but next time I want to hike Ben Macdui. Your video was the reason i choose this destination! Thanks!
Cy thanks for this video. My family and I are going to Scotland in a couple of weeks. Is there a way to hike to the first Monroe and go back. I would love to summit one mountain in Scotland. But I don’t have a whole day to hike 7miles. How long do you think it would talk to hike to the first Cairn? 3 hours round trip?

But I don’t have a whole day to hike 7miles. How long do you think it would talk to hike to the first Cairn? 3 hours round trip? Cairn Gorm? Is that the first cairn after the ski lodge. How long would it take you to hike up there. The funicular used to take people up to the ski lodge but it isn’t working now. I would love some advice. Thanks.
Yeah you just don't keep going on the path after making it up to Cairn Gorm, just turn around and head back towards the ski area. Yes, Cairn Gorm is the first one after the lodge. I think it takes about an hour and some change, half of the walk to Cairn Gorm is walking up the actual ski area though.
You could also hike the trail in reverse, here's the AllTrails, trail: www.alltrails.com/trail/scotland/highlands/cairngorm-northern-corries-rim?u=i&sh=xhrxan Have a great time! Definitely bring a jacket even in the summer as it's cooler and windier up there and it can always rain.

Thanks guys. The sketches were definitely fun to do, but time consuming haha but I do enjoy filling up the sketchbook for these. Appreciate it.

Beautifully done video and fantastic sketches! Well done!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Fantastic. I love that yellow-green grass up in the alpine zone. It feels quintessentially U.K.
It sure is. Great at sunset too.
Glamorous landscape scenery, and really touching shots.
Appreciate that. I always try to convey the mood each landscape makes me feel in a lot of my videos and I think you do the same in yours!
Another gorgeous adventure! 👏
Thanks man, super underrated area in my opinion.
I love the transition of the drawing into the mountain!
Thanks! They were fun to sketch and make for this.

You guys had a seriously busy trip, you must have been tired by the time you got back home! Great video as always.
We did cram in a lot 🙂. It slows down though after this haha. We took the last 3 days to just putz around Edinburgh.
You are so underrated!
It’s so pretty there! New here can’t wait to see more videos!
Thanks for watching! It really is a spectacular landscape.
Just done 105k up and down them mountains last week, what an experience
