Thanks for this! I feel like there's a big gap between amateur SFX and total experts whose work is incredibly hard to follow and understand if you don't have prior knowledge but you sit right in the middle and really take time to explain the steps. I appreciate you 🤩
Thank you!! I felt like in the past I'd kinda gone through stuff quickly to make it a less 'boring' video for those who aren't actually interested in learning the process but click the video anyway (??), but because it's such a technical thing I wanted to try to touch on much useful information as I could think of. I know I've still accidentally left stuff out, like about silicone inhibition from late, etc, but at least it has a lot more info in it than any of my past videos, and any of the other videos on youtube about the topic (to my knowledge).
This is the very first tutorial i watch on youtube without forwarding any parts of it! The way you break down information makes it super easy to understand and apply! Thank you for being so awesome!!
I'm so glad you like it! Thanks! I plan on doing some more really long form content, but I'm talking like 5 hours +, the same stuff I'd teach in my one and two day workshops, here in Aus, but putting it onto platform that better suits it, like teachable :D
Thank you Kiana and Leah! These pieces are sick! I've been doing gelatin pieces out of flatmoulds following your walkthroughs, working on silicone pieces next.
Waooo!! Just Amazing ,love f2f make up I give away because nothing in Maryland to work on it for a old men.:) but your work for my experience,ie amazing you should go to Hollywood, really!!Thanks and keep it up.
Hi! I’m new to the use of cap plastic on molds but i was just wondering if you could use a paint sprayer from home depot or another hardware store instead of an airbrush? Let me know if you know! Thanks!
Hey, you are amazing! Can you tell me if you are using this same airbrush gun for the cap plastic and paints? Is it ok? And can you tell me how do you clean airbrush gun after cap plastic? Just add more acetone as I suppose? Cheers, Hannah
I found the fleet street Scab Paste good for creating crusty scabs, and excess cap plastic for the dry skin (so when you're filling your moulds, just keep the extra cap plastic from the board for this purpose, powder it and store it), and I put a little bit of out of kit silicone in areas as well to amp up the colour and texture.
Hello, I love your work!! I have a weird question.. Does silicone weigh the same when it is liquid and when it is solid, or does it lose some volume when it cures??
Really helpful video, thank you. Where did you get your bottles from to store your A and B platsil please? It comes in tins here in the UK and its a nightmare when measuring out, plus it runs down the side of the tin when you put the lid back on!🙄
I use platsil 25 is it then necessary to use deadener? And how can I safely place prosthetics, I see that people pin them down on a cardboard is that an option?
Hi Nicolle, I would love if our moulds and prosthetics were biodegradable, but sadly silicone isn't. At this time, there is no suitable alternative on the market that we can use. Unless you know of an option?
Great video, but you need to slow down, you have your camera in automatic focusing and we can not see the products because you don't give the camera time to focus on the labels.
No, not at all Hayden. Kiana and I believe in giving back to our supporters as much as we can, which is why we've created this free in depth how-to content. The workshops exist for those who prefer to learn in an interactive classroom environment.

Thank you for this amazing video and such insightful information, very useful !
Can you use gelatin in your silicone molds? If yes, would you need to use a mold release agent & what type of release agent would you use?
Waooo!! Just Amazing ,love f2f make up I give away because nothing in Maryland to work on it for a old men.:) but your work for my experience,ie amazing you should go to Hollywood, really!!Thanks and keep it up.
Which color pigments do you use to create the different flesh tones... Couldn't see the brand in the video.
The brand is Neill's Materials, pale flesh tone. They are located in the UK. Also used is Barnes white silicone pigment.

Would you ever create your mold out of ultracal? Or is it better to use silicone so you one get bits of ultracal in ur prosthetics?
i can't find cat plastic in my country, can you replace it with something else?

Are this prostetic good for tattoo practice?
On the crusty stitches one, what did you use to create the crusty scab stuff?
We used a combination of materials like cap plastic sheets and drying blood, but the crusty stitches tutorial will go over it all so no worries : )

Could Glatzan be used instead of Baldiez?
3 to 12 layers seems like it'd take forever!
Pls do a beginner guide into sfx world
Why don’t you use probond? Don’t these run the risk of delaminating
