After this video I decided to try and see if the EX2510 was possible to OC. I now realise it's more than likely that the EX2510S has the same panel as the non-S variant as I was able to push it to 170hz from it's regular 144hz. If you still have yours from the review, I'd recommend testing it.
After some more messing around it looks like it will only manage 165hz if blur reduction is enabled and 170hz will sometimes give it an out of range error when switching to it, so 165 seems like the sweet spot. I also haven't tested with freesync/gsync enabled at all.
I also own the EX2510 and one thing you have to consider when OCing screens is frame skipping. The EX2510 has very considerable frame skipping at 165Hz.

I think this is something you need to revist. But next time don't only change the timing, but the lower the resolution as well. I got my Omen X27 to go from 1440p 240Hz to 1080p 400Hz with cvt-reduced blank timing setting and 8bit color depth, 60% improvement in refresh rate. It actually went to 420Hz but would crash when trying to play Overwatch which is my main game (this was OW1 so the max fps was only 400, not 600 so this may have been a factor). Also, you can create a custom resolution through Nvidia control panel, no need to download a software tool.
Under-clocking might also be a thing. My old LG IPS236V spec sheet says 56-75hz, but I could get 49-76hz. The funny thing is; it wasn't advertized as 75Hz, but it's in the spec sheet. Had to use reduced timings with CRU to get there though. I suspected a 165Mhz pixel clock limit.

I overclocked my 120hz tv (don't ask) to 144hz to fully fit in the bandwidth of HDMI 2.1
I don't find it bad if it's necessary (like from 60 to 90 for big boost) or just doesn't stress your monitor too much.
Have you tried copying the original timings in the detailed resolution and changing the refresh rate on the original timings?
LG 27GN750-B, from 240hz to 250hz
What we need for TV's and Monitors is software

How much you guys overclocked 75hz monitors
I have a question. Does setting my 1920x1080 monitor over VGA to 2160x1080 harmful? Right now it's connected with a VGA cable but on 2160p it's terrible. Picture quality on 1080p (1920x1080) over VGA is crystal clear
No I'm not using HDMI anytime soon
I have an MOBIUZ EX2710 I overclocked it from 144hz to 165 its working good but should I use it or it will reduce my monitor life?
use it ur lucky
no the life should be the same graphics get decreased by the way so its fine
I have a question, if my monitor is rated for 165Hz, will overclocking it to that reduce it's life span?
it depends really especially since all the visual errors a oc can induce
I need an answer too!! My 24g2 came and windows didn't show 144hz, I have amd integrated graphics so no nvidia panel, I used CRU and it works fine but still need assurance
@@eznemo2346 It's not really an "OC" (which means that I don't have to do it in the OSD to reach 165Hz) from what I can see, it may be a factory overclocked panel from 144Hz to 165Hz I assume but there are no errors
@@DecemberGalaxy0 If it works fine, then you're all good! As long as it is advertised for 144Hz and it's running at that refresh rate then there's nothing to worry about.
@@QuickS4nd oh god yes their is
acer predator xb241h can be overclocked from 60hz to 180hz as a built-in option.
Will this trick damage life of my monitor?
Hello there :) USing ancient e231 (hp) monitor. 75hz was the max stable HZ i could get :) Still something i guess, but its time to update.
Not related to the video but a question I still search the answer to. Have you noticed different text sharpness across brands? I had recently tried a few monitors (LG, BenQ, Acer) and both LG and Benq had a kind of sharper text than the Acer monitors I have. Felt artifical to me though and I prefer Acer's text appearance. If thats the case do you perhaps know other monitor brands with text sharpness similar to Acer?
For Asus monitors, where 165hz overclock is at stock (according to Nvidia control panel), would it make a difference being on 144hz vs 165hz
i have a 4k 60hz monitor that i sadly can not get to over 60hz at 4k however i can get it to 120 at 1440 which while not 4k, is still double what I had and with the same refresh rate for the few games I play where that really maters most. Destiny ill play at 1440 120hz while Total War ill go for 4k at 60hz.
But what if I have a 4k monitor and I put 1080p resolution, will it then allow 144Hz ?
does it only mess your monitor or can it also ruin the GPU?
only monitor
I have a question i hope someone answers this, so if you OC a monitor, the settings will be applied forever? Asking to know if i can unplug it from PC and use it on Xbox with the new settings. Thanks in advance!
Is it bad to overclock the phone screen from 60hz to 80hz ?
Overclocked my 75hz monitor to 144hz, km ,mean like why just not sell it for 144hz?
Whatever I do on CRU doesnt not show up on my settings display - im using windows 11 - what am i missing here?
my Samsung G5 went from 144 to 165 (I only increased in 5hz increments and it crashed at 170)
I have a 4k monitor at 60 fps, I found out that it goes up to around 83, so i safely put it at 80hz. I play valorant casually and i think it makes it for a smoother experience
Good. What's the model of your monitor?
@@shrikantar7107 v28UE its a monitor made by a Korean comany. Pretty affordable too
i got a 2016 Vizio d32x-d1 32 inches...with 60hz im running it now on 96hz on 1080p
that's weirdly bad, my 1080p acer monitor goes from 60 to 76hz and it was definitely a budget monitor and my odyssey g7 can do 1440p at just under 270hz and for fun I tested it at 720p 400hz and it actually worked. It also does 1080p 360hz.
I just checked, sadly 1440p/240hz is same prince range as 1080p/360hz... there goes my hope of you finding a loophole for a cheap 360hz monitor 😅
But(!) 360hz monitors are all 24,5". Your G7 is 27". That makes it the biggest 360hz screen! 😂
Question: How is the image quality in 1080p? Does it look as good as a normal 1080p monitor, or better/worse, cuz it has more pixels?
"169hz... nice~ actually works ;)
I like ur videos, and by reviews that u made before, i decided to buy a monitor EX2510. But, in my region only EX2510S is available. Is there is any diffrence from EX2510 in performance except 165hz? I couln't find anything from internet, forums
is there any impact on monitor's life ?
My 120hz monitor has gone up to 153hz but the artifacting is where I’m lost cause it started up recently😭

My LG monitor has 165hz and with OC 180hz given by the company itself.
Should i use it in 165 or 180
Does using 180hz damage or shorten the life span of the pc please lem’me know
if youre asking if it reduces the lifespan of the monitor i dont think it really does from what ive read and also lifes short so just do it😂
I have an LG LG UltraGear 27GL63T-B standard is 144hz, I can get it all the way up to 244hz, without any weird artifacting or any negative affect other than I have to use 8bpc color depth instead of 10bpc color depth, I've settled for 200hz at 10bpc color depth, UFO test shows no problems and it looks really good.
Hi, is it ok to overclock my asus vg249q1a, it has the option on the osd, but i dont know if is good for lifespan having that all time.
Is it possible to make a 144hz 1080p monitor with a higher resolution? sacrificing some hertz probably

I've overclocked my UWQHD Samsung 34 inch from 75 Hertz 95 hertz and it works flawlessly want to push a little bit more maybe 120 but I'm too scared to brick my monitor😭
Why didn't you try 60 hertz monitors?
ok 4hrz more but what about the lifespan due to stress what about the warranty if it breaks and in the end,can the eyes see a 4mhz improvement probably not so my conclusions its a waste of time.
hi, i have a benq zowie xl2411p and it's 144hz but every time u put over 90 hertz it doesnt work. How can I fix this? Please answer!
It's over
with this method my refresh rate reached from 60HZ to 95 HZ, more than this is not available, Is is dangerous for laptop? display
Is it safe for me to OC a 165Hz-rated monitor from 144Hz back to 165Hz. Sounds dumb but the monitor is capped at 144Hz via HDMI.
Yeah and that would be oc that’s just the normal refresh rate
Hello, i would like if you can review the MSI g242 since it uses the same pannel as the 24g2 and the vg249 that you highly recommend and we would like to see if msi missed the mark on not in calibration and backlight strobing, keep up the great content i love it.
Nice Video! Gonna try that on my Monitor 😄
I have an Asus 144hz monitor I use for gaming on console... It can be over locked to 170hz should I do it if I only play xboxseries X and warzone only
I have samsung tv when I search the exact model it say 120hz but I can't find a way to use it in settings so I'm just going to try this and see what happens. I see some reviews saying it works but really no good information.
i got my "Koorui 24e4" that would only run on 60hz to go to 200hz (running off hdmi) (monitor was rated for 144) only used the nvidia driver thing, no bypasser things
i was able to get my 144Hz monitor to 150Hz
seems kind of pointless and you're really not gonna see the difference tbh
and considering overclocking the monitor might reduce the lifetime of the display, I don't see a reason to run it at 150Hz
how is Gigabyte M27Q 27 Inch KVM FreeSync 170Hz QHD IPS Gaming Monitor ????
Can it "damage" my monitor? 60Hz to 74Hz ?
it's been a while since I had a 60HZ one. But I remember OCing mine to 72Hz and after a couple months it broke (wouldn't display anything or a little with a heavy pink tint 🤣). So be aware while it doesn't have to be inherently dangerous, there might be a chance something will happen. So if you're short on money and can't think of being able to buy a replacement, I'd be careful.
why when i do it my monitor supports 400hz but i cant save it
can i overclock my 75hz to 120 or 144hz
I overclocked my monitor from 144hz to 172 hz today

With my 60hz TV I managed to overclock it to 75hz. I tried 80hz but it said unsupported and I would try a number between 75 and 80 but I don't think doing that would make a difference
