Your channel is inviting because you show and discuss your process of sketching and creating art. So many art channels forgot to do that. They post packing videos, and the like, almost continuously. It’s nice to find an actual working artist channel like yours. Your content is inspirational and your love for creating art comes through. Plus, it’s interesting to see all the landmarks and landscapes you discover. Hope you plan on sharing your world for many more years to come.
Thank you so much 😀Glad that you find it interesting to hear/ see my journey too, I know that's what I like to see from other artists. I hope to continue sharing, if anything it's like a diary of my art life and explorations.
I discovered your channel through the collaboration you did with Sandi Hester. I stayed because I love the walks you take us on and the beautiful countryside and drawings that your share. The colors on this abstract are so appealing! Lovely & inspiring!
I forgot to add that I have been watching for about 2 years. What keeps me watching is how you layer colours and your process. As you suggested I have started to write the date etc. If I need inspiration I come to watch your videos they are calming as well. ❤
The Large and Long Sketchbook tour was where I first viewed your work, Melanie! I needed a break from everything and just wanted to take a tour- it was about two weeks ago, I think- I live near Seattle Washington USA and I enjoy sketchbook journaling and painting on canvas- your videos are encouraging and make me want to try different media - thank you so very Much for your inspiration! The Robin video was so Adorable! I had my husband watch it as well! We Love all kinds of birds and creatures God has made! Thanks again! Kelli
YT suggested I watch one of your colabs with Sandi Hester, so that's where I started, but I've watched back through maybe the last year or so of videos. I live on the Mendocino Coast in California where there are some striking resemblances to your regional landscape in Cornwall. That's fun to see on its own, but also how you interpret the landscape in your sketches. Thank you for bringing us along with you! Very much enjoy your process and videos.
I discovered your channel when scoping around the topic of how to make a concertina sketchbook. I will be investigating your other videos. Thank you for sharing your talents and processes.
Hi Melanie! I think I first found your channel sometime in late 2021, maybe from Instagram (I can’t remember exactly). I think the first video I watched might have been your Relaxing +Long Look Inside My Sketchbooks video from July 22, 2021… or it was your How To Make A Concertina Sketchbook Zine video from August 12, 2021. I subscribed because I love how your content is so calming, uplifting, and real! Your kind, cheerful, and peaceful personality shines through each video. You seem like the kind of person I’d want to get to know and become friends with in daily life. I think that makes your videos inviting, warm and cozy! You share your process so generously, and the overall quality of your videos (in terms of content, editing, lighting, audio, visual composition and clear imagery, creativity and story telling) is exceptional! It’s easy to realize all the hard work you put into even a quick, short video. If I’m having a hard day, or feeling stuck creatively, I can rewatch any of your videos and I immediately feel uplifted and inspired. Well, if you can’t tell, I’m a HUGE fan, and so incredibly grateful for all the time, energy, and thought you put into your channel. Thank you so very much! God bless you. 🤗💛
Ah thanks so much Wendi for your lovely message 😊 so encouraging to read and that the videos help calm and uplift you! You have also encouraged me with your comments and interactions and being one of the first to sign up to my course. Xx
Hi! This is my first video, and I watched it now! Thank you for a beautiful moment together. I guess the energy in your video was very inviting. I'm having the flue, and was looking for something inspiering and calming, and this was really everything and even more I could ask for
I discovered you/ your channel through Sandi Hester, and I believe the first one I watched was of you and the little robin. So cute. I'll e looking through more of your episodes. Thank you.
I have been watching you for 2 years. I first saw you on Sandi Hester's channel. I saw you when you were the artist in residence. I love your style and your soothing voice. You take your time explaining your process. I really enjoyed this mix media sketch. The colors are amazing. I have never seen those earthy acrylic inks ever. Congratulations on the 10,000 mark. That is so awesome. I love everything you teach. Thank you Mel. 🙂❤
I learned about you from Sandi Hester about three years ago and have followed you every since. I am a mixed media artist and love all the new mediums you have introduced over time and the simplicity of your sketches. I also love your calendar pieces you make. Thank you.
I discovered you through Liz Steel's blog, and have done your online course, Mel! So I am a newbie as of January 2023! I've kept watching because you're inspirational, and I love your style. This is such a fun video, and it's great to see you experimenting with mixed media, so informative, thank you! 😀
I have been following you for sometime now. What makes me watch your channel is your calm, humble, professional and staying on task approach. It is a little like I am listening to a story or go on journey with you. I would highly recommend your channel for people on all skill levels.
I just discovered your channel through a collaboration you did with Sandi Hester. What a delight! I have subscribed. Many thanks for your relaxing video.
I discovered your channel through the collaboration you did with Sandi Hester. I love how you both make relatable art, particularly in your sketchbooks, that encourages other artists to explore their world through art. Thank you!
Thank you so much for posting the video, it was such enjoyable viewing. I always think that a book full of beautiful, raw, experimental sketches is a glimpse into your artistic soul, much more than finished paintings. I am addicted to Turner's sketchbooks for this very reason.
Hi Melanie! I found you because of a collaboration you had done with @sandihester ! So while I can't recall the first video, it was likely one of the videos you did with her about a year or so ago. I am having to say that Mr. Robin has provided you another avenue to your artmaking. I love this drawing you did in your sketchbook in this video. I hope you will do more. Though plein-aire sketching is your jam, I'd love to see more of these inspiration-renderings based upon what you were recently working on outside. I think it's very valuable to show non-creatives how the creative inspiration takes its twists and turns, which I think you have done in this video. It's such a celebration of your 10,000-subscriber milestone! 💗
I really enjoyed watching all the steps and different materials you layered and the colors! 💛lovely video, as always, Mel. Thank you for sharing the process 🤗
Hi Melanie, this is the first time I have seen you. This video just popped up in the suggestion area as I was watching another art journalling video. I love what you are doing here and will keep watching . Trills, New Zealand.xx
Melanie, I love this work. I just recently found your channel. The first one I saw was of the Robin!! So I really enjoyed seeing that you have kept him with you a bit longer. I love seeing you outside and it is so beautiful where you live by the sea. I am from the USA. The Central Plains, so no mountains or sea. Watching you is like being on vacation. I also love the mixed media you play with. So inspiring! Keep up the good work.
Lovely lovely soothing art to watch. I came to your channel today for the first time. i am doing a study of mixed media and abstract art. beautiful work and love listening to your voice also thank you for posting
I love the colors in this so much, and your style! Started to watch yours and other UA-camrs this winter when I surfed around for inspiration this dark winter. Always loved British accents and yours is so nice to listen to, haha, sounds weird maybe, but I am Swedish and most sweeds speak English with a terrible American accent. The vlog when you are walking around and sketching the beautiful landscape is so nice to watch. I'm going to South of France next week and will be doing my first sketching outside there I hope. In Stockholm its far too cold, the snow just melted. Thanks for the inspiration!
You popped up in my suggestions quite a few months ago and ever since then I’ve watched almost if not all of your videos and because of you I’ve started to subscribe to Sandi Hester and kriksis. I really love your art and your art style , your videos are very inspirational and a joy to watch . Thankyou for sharing all of your amazing videos here on UA-cam. I’m from Cheshire and never visited your part of the uk , where you live looks pretty amazing and it must inspire lots of other talented artist just like you . Thankyou again Mel .
I really enjoyed this video! I first found you through Sandi Hester 2 years ago. I think the first one I watched was you and Sandi sketching "together"! Congratulations on 10,000 subscribers!
Always delightful to watch, Mel! Such a relaxing and peaceful start to the day. And congrats on 10K!!! I can't think of anyone that deserves it more!! Bravo!
I just recently discovered your channel in the last week or so and I’m in love with watching your creative process. I love the sound of your voice as it is very easy to listen to as well as watching all of your lovely creations. You are inspiring me so very much to stretch and grow as an artist. I’m so glad I found you! Thank you.💕
The first video of yours that I watched was about tips to go sketching outside. It had been recommended by UA-cam because I was trying to overcome my nervousness about outdoor sketching by watching videos of others doing it. I love your multimedia approach, your spontaneous/no worries style, and I live in a similar landscape to yours (North-West Brittany, just across from you) so your sketches are very inspiring to me.
Congratulations on 10K! I'm really surprised that you don't have a much larger subscriber audience. Your videos are very inspiring and very relaxing and therapeutic. Cheers from Canada 🍁
Oh, I loved watching this video so much! The color palette was lovely and harmonious, the angle was perfect, your voice (as always) is gentle and friendly which makes viewing such a pleasure. As I watch, I am learning but I am also comforted by your journey. It was very pleasurable watching you have a play with items that I have as well - it inspires me to play in different ways. I started watching your channel about a year ago, I think. What brings me back is the peaceful way you speak to the viewers and interviewees. I also appreciate the tips and how you let “mistakes” just be and incorporate them in your art. Just a pleasure! 😊
I’ve been watching you for several months now. I can’t remember exactly when I found you, but I was immediately a huge fan! I adore your color choices and your loose, sketchy style. You’re such an inspiration! I have your calendar hanging in my studio right beside my desk so I can see it while I work. I want your artwork all over my walls someday. ❤
Also, I have the same the derwent palette that you always use outdoors. I realise I don’t know how to use the colours. It’s marketed as an urban sketching set but I find the colours hard to use for an urban setting. They are so hard to mix to get the right colour and so dull. But you’re so amazing at making the most if it for all the country landscapes! I do love using those 3 Graphitint paints for abstract watercolour though. They go well with gold and other watercolours that I have.
I think it’s almost 2 years since I found your channel - UA-cam recommended it to me and I think it may have been how to make a concertina zine book - Love your arty videos - I like your meet the artist videos but I much prefer seeing you sketching in studio, our studio, anywhere as long as I see art materials and sketching 😊
I loved this video. I am a newer subscriber and was trying to remember what brought me here. I think it might have been a plein air search on UA-cam, or a search for painting with inks, acrylic inks, or watercolor. If I can remember exactly later, I will let you know. I love the areas you paint in. I love the colors you used in this video, the organic shapes, and showing and telling us what you are using and doing. I find it relaxing and inspiring at the same time. Thank you so much, Mel! Paula
Just started watching your posts and certainly remember the robin one! Really enjoying what you are doing. I am visiting Cornwall in May and have made a note of some of your locations and intend sketching at some of them
Ah wonderful definitely visit the Lizard peninsula, Polpeor, Poltesco, Cadgwith, Coverack, Mullion...So many spots to sketch! May is perfect as all the cliff flowers are out.
I jumped into your channel through your collaboration with Sandi Hester. I immediately loved the way you layer several types of media for a sum that is much greater than each part. I love your sketch walks, your videos such as this (I remember the sketching food items fondly from the funny treacle lion), and your great interviews with your local artists. Your pro audio and video skills make every video a little vacation to Cornwall and I love having a few art moments with you regularly.
I am a recent subscriber. I found you through Natasha Newton, Kriksis and your joint podcast channel. I especially love that you spend so much time outside, and really love seeing your inspirations come to life. You are such a calming presence. Oh, and I love your art too!
Congrats Mel you deserve this. I love your vids because you also share about and encourage other artists and interview them but also I love your artwork and I love Cornwall 💜
Enjoyed watching you experimenting with different mediums. I love how it started by accident and then you embraced it. Congratulations on 10K subscribers! :) I started watching you in autumn/winter of 2021 and found you trough Natasha Newton and creative catchup podcast. One of the first videos I watched was where you opened gift from Natasha-personalised watercolour palette. I stayed because of your personality. Thank you for being so inspiring! :)
Hi, I have likely been following you for about a year and a half. First I saw you dong rock and terrain approach to the sea, in Cornwall. I was captivated by how your colourful almost random looking strokes came together to creat a wonderful tapestry of a landscape. Then I saw some interviews you did with other artists, like Kricsas sp?. Peace and joyful fibe. All good.
Hi Mel! I came across your channel through Kriksis! I suppose your videos wrapped in peaceful voice and calmness made me stay here and subscribed! Congratulations on 10 K subscribers! Please, keep recording, documenting and sharing your art journey with us! You are such an inspiration!
Hi, I’m new to your channel and loving it. The landscapes around Cornwall are places that I’m familiar with because we have spent our Christmases and many summer holidays visiting with family. Also I’m recently retired and exploring nature and art journaling. You have a soft quiet, easy to listen to voice which is calming. That together, with your obvious love for art and nature, is what draws me to your channel. Thank you.
I found your channel during Covid lockdowns. I think it was the video where you were interviewing another artist. I just really liked your personality- that was what first caught my interest. But then as I watched more, I also really enjoyed both your art and the way you narrate your process. I prefer that to silent vlogs with music playing. I want to hear and learn from the artist. .congratulations on reaching 10K
Congratulations Mel, on the 10k milestone - fantastic!! I think I found you via your 'Artist-in-residence' videos, some time ago now. I stayed because I really love your work, I have loved Cornwall since my childhood & dream of living there, and I find your videos to be very soothing & a place of sanctuary. I also love to see you & Kriksis together, you make me giggle 🤭 Thank you!
Hi Mel, first of all congratulations that you now have over 10000 subscribers. You deserve it so much. I discovered you two years ago when I was looking for videos about sketchbooks. And then in Cornwall too, that was more than 100% for me😄. I have written before that your calm voice, the detailed explanations of the colours you use are so wonderful. I'm always waiting for the next video even if I don't always comment. I love your sketchbooks and the colours you use. And I also like to watch your old videos. You have done so many wonderful drawings over the years. We were in Porthleven for a fortnight in February. It was so beautiful there!!! Right by the sea. What a beautiful view to get the sketchbook out. I was able to draw a lot of memories. Porthleven is a beautiful town. And a good starting point for many walks. We have been to Cornwall 26 times now and always find new wonderful places to explore. We are usually there twice a year. It's an incredible inspiration there. I wish you many many more subscribers. Thank you for sharing all this with us. Take care. Gabi😊
Thanks Gabi 😊 so cool to hear that you were in Porthleven, it is the perfect spot to walk from and draw, so many interesting buildings and lanes. Did you come across the wreckers yard?
@@MelanieChadwick Hello Mel, oh, yes, we walked past there a few times😊. It was so surprising and fun to see all the collectibles. I made a few sketches. And threw a pound into the fountain.😄. We will definitely come back to Porthleven. We had a house in Loe Bar road. It's called Boscregan. It's a fantastic place. Walking to the beautifully lit harbour in the evening was gorgeous and so impressive. We usually go to Carbis Bay or St. Ives, but I fell in love with Porthleven. We walked 10 kilometres every day. The coastpath is such a colourful inspiration it's so wonderful. And the weather was great in this two weeks. Thank you for your reply. Have a lovely Sunday😊
Love this sketchbook exercise. So beautiful also!!! You were one of the first artists I found when I realized artist were out there on UA-cam. Probably around 2020
A brand new subscriber watching a couple of months after you posted this video. The first video I watched was "How to Paint a Feather With Copic Markers". Kendra Lwebuga talked about you, Kriksis and Natasha Newton so I was intrigued. I was already a long time subscriber of Natasha Newton. I will continue to watch your videos because you share your thought process and technique which is very helpful to me as I skip and stumble through my own art journey. Peace.
Very creative!!! I have been with you a long while...you were paining food - seems you had finished a contract and were finally posting the project on UA-cam. I appreciate your calm voice; your composition and color choices as well as your plein air painting. Seems you had the same appeal for the little robin 💕
I first found you through Sandi Hester’s channel and the faces video you collaborated on. I can’t remember when it was, but it seems like it has been about 2 years? I enjoy your style and your videos always inspire me to go outside and draw…even though most of the time I end up getting sidetracked ☹️. I like seeing your surroundings, it is lovely there! I wish that I could visit Cornwall one day. I keep watching your channel because of your art, but also for the calm and relaxed feeling they give me. Looking forward to more 😁
Congratulations with 10k followers. Can't remember how I found your channel, but I'm sure it was at the end of 2019. I love your colors and motives, also your calm pace and voice. Keep it coming, lots of inspiration here. Thank you. Love from Denmark.
im a new subscriber, and you inspire in so many ways, especially with working with colors and the tones of brown, i really like when you put autumn colors!😊💗💖
I started coming here since you did the Inktober challenge with the lettering. That’s probably longer ago than I thought! Well done on 10K subscribers!🎉
Very interesting, Mel! May I ask if you seal your pages to keep materials like pastels and Neocolors from transferring? And if so: What sealant do you take? I discovered your channel about a year ago and my first video was "My sketchbook addiction lead to this...". I also like watching Sarah Burns' content and what I like about both of you is your calm and relaxing way. It always feels like having had some minutes of holiday. And what also kept me watching is your beautiful sometimes looser, sometimes more detailed mixed media style. I also like working in mixed media and I do it as a leisure activity, so it's not my job and I am mostly self-taught. Sometimes if I see only "perfect work"/very curated/almost photo-realistic I can get a little self-conscious as I don't like creating art like this and would not be able to do so neither. So I really appreciate seeing other people doing really beautiful but different things with their materials. That's what's really inspiring to me and makes me want to create and try things out myself.
Thanks so much for your comments and to hear about how to found the channel and why you keep watching too! I actually don't use a sealant, I will however put sheets of paper in between pages if I am sketching on the back to stop the transfer.
I’ve always thought the robin’s body shape had been distorted by many artists. But having looked at “your” robin, I notice their bodies are quite oddly shaped for a bird - there’s no sign of a neck and the chest and belly is quite inflated compared to the head!
Your channel is inviting because you show and discuss your process of sketching and creating art. So many art channels forgot to do that. They post packing videos, and the like, almost continuously. It’s nice to find an actual working artist channel like yours. Your content is inspirational and your love for creating art comes through. Awesome! Thank you Christine 😊 current favourite palette at the moment!
I forgot to add that I have been watching for about 2 years. What keeps me watching is how you layer colours and your process. As you suggested I have started to write the date etc. If I need inspiration I come to watch your videos they are calming as well. ❤

I just recently discovered your channel in the last week or so and I’m in love with watching your creative process. I love the sound of your voice as it is very easy to listen to as well as watching all of your lovely creations. You are inspiring me so very much to stretch and grow as an artist. I’m so glad I found you! Thank you.💕
Thank you so much!
Wonderful to hear and hope you are encouraged to go outside to sketch, it is very rewarding.
Congratulations on 10K! I'm really surprised that you don't have a much larger subscriber audience. Your videos are very inspiring and very relaxing and therapeutic. Cheers from Canada 🍁
Thank you! 😊To be honest I'm surprised I have 10k following!!
Thanks so much Imani for your kind comments and glad to hear how this inspires you in your sketchbooks.
Ah thanks so much that's very kind and I also enjoy reading your comments too!
I have just discovered your channel. Loving it. Really inspiring and encouraging x
I think it’s almost 2 years since I found your channel - UA-cam recommended it to me and I think it may have been how to make a concertina zine book -
Love your arty videos - I like your meet the artist videos but I much prefer seeing you sketching in studio, our studio, anywhere as long as I see art materials and sketching 😊
Lovely to hear Rebecca thankyou! Noted more sketching and materials!!
Paula
Thankyou Paula that lovely to hear
Thank you so much Terri, so nice to have you here and hear what you find interesting and fun (the treacle lion) to watch!
I am a recent subscriber. I found you through Natasha Newton, Kriksis and your joint podcast channel. I especially love that you spend so much time outside, and really love seeing your inspirations come to life. You are such a calming presence. Oh, and I love your art too!
Lovely to have you here. Thanks 😊
Congrats Mel you deserve this. I love your vids because you also share about and encourage other artists and interview them but also I love your artwork and I love Cornwall 💜
Thanks Deborah 😊
Enjoyed watching you experimenting with different mediums. I love how it started by accident and then you embraced it. Congratulations on 10K subscribers! :) I started watching you in autumn/winter of 2021 and found you trough Natasha Newton and creative catchup podcast. One of the first videos I watched was where you opened gift from Natasha-personalised watercolour palette. I stayed because of your personality. Thank you for being so inspiring! :)
That is interesting to hear Kriksis and the first video you watched!
All good.
Thanks so much Judy, glad you like the conversations, they are a lot of fun to film!
Hi Mel! I came across your channel through Kriksis! I suppose your videos wrapped in peaceful voice and calmness made me stay here and subscribed! Congratulations on 10 K subscribers! Please, keep recording, documenting and sharing your art journey with us! You are such an inspiration!
Thankyou Tanya that's so nice to hear and that you came through @Kriksis 💗
Hi, I’m new to your channel and loving it. The landscapes around Cornwall are places that I’m familiar with because we have spent our Christmases and many summer holidays visiting with family. Also I’m recently retired and exploring nature and art journaling. You have a soft quiet, easy to listen to voice which is calming. That together, with your obvious love for art and nature, is what draws me to your channel. Thank you.
Thanks so much for following along.
Thankyou and good to know on the silent vlog- I did try that once and it did not do well!
Oh thank you! I do enjoy hanging out with Kriksis!
Ah amazing and so glad to hear that! Without UA-cam I would not have connected or discovered so many other artists online.
Peace.
Thanks for subbing! Lovely to have you here 😀
Sandi Hester mentions you often on her channel. Just joined today.🎉❤
Welcome!!
I just discovered your channel and I love your work you have inspired me to experiment again and not to worry so much about the outcome thank you! ❤
I'm so glad to hear thankyou 😊
Just subscribed!!
Thankyou!
Very creative!!! I have been with you a long while...you were paining food - seems you had finished a contract and were finally posting the project on UA-cam. I appreciate your calm voice; your composition and color choices as well as your plein air painting. Seems you had the same appeal for the little robin 💕
Thanks Deb and you are another long time sub! Always appreciate your kind comments 😊
Looking forward to more 😁
Thanks so much for following along
Congratulations with 10k followers. Can't remember how I found your channel, but I'm sure it was at the end of 2019. I love your colors and motives, also your calm pace and voice. Keep it coming, lots of inspiration here. Thank you. Love from Denmark.
Thank you so much Hanne, for watching and your encouragements along the way.
im a new subscriber, and you inspire in so many ways, especially with working with colors and the tones of brown, i really like when you put autumn colors!😊💗💖
Thanks for subbing!
New viewer. I like your illustrative mixed media process
Thankyou and welcome to the channel!
I started coming here since you did the Inktober challenge with the lettering. That’s probably longer ago than I thought! Well done on 10K subscribers!🎉
I think you are one my veteran subs!! I remember your comments about visiting Porthleven when we were living there. Lovely that you're still here!!
@@MelanieChadwick Yes I love Porthleven! When I visit there I still think of you doing your sketches.x
The first video I saw of yours was 'How to paint a feather using copic markers' and I subscribed straight away! I just really liked you :D haha
Wow you've been with me a long time Debs! Always appreciate your comments too.
The American robin also looks quite different to the European robin so maybe the artists are drawing two different birds!
