      @seriouslyreally5413 Рік тому +25

      @@daniellex51484shaking my head? Or so much hate? At my comment? Facts aren't hateful, they're just the facts. If your intent in posting content online is to inspire others that it doesn't take a lot of money or hiring fancy designers to come up with projects on your own to beautify a space you don't like, then you need to be at least be aware that you could be inadvertently leading them into a action that could cause another unforseen problem such as expanding and re-cracking along the caulking line when the concrete expands in the heat which is it's intended function. Of which you may then find yourself having to scrape out all of that caulking if you don't like the looks of that cracking. For instance, painting concrete; many comments advise against doing so because of ongoing maintenance when the paint starts to peel. That is another fact. Dying the concrete with a stain made for cured concrete is a low maintenance alternative. For those that are inspired to do a project like this in their home, there are many alternative materials to choose from depending on the time and effort you have available to maintain it. I hope you reconsider characterizing people's input as hateful and consider perhaps their recall of past experiences. I thought an expansion joint could be covered because it interfered with the pattern in my patio knowing good and well what it was there for. It didn't work and the lesson learned only made more poignant the solution we inevitably used.

    • @mandielou
      @mandielou Рік тому +6

      She said she added something in it to make the paint less slippery but it's clearly and very glossy so she didn't put enough of it in. She's going to end up having to we do that all the time and for it to look good she's going to have to clean off the paint that was on before. Only way you can get that off is using acetone and a scrub brush, or if it's peeling and chipping you might be able to use a pressure washer for a lot of it. Freaking concrete contracts and expands, freezes and sweats. Lol I hate it when people paint concrete, actually I even hate it when they paint their wooden walkways. It just makes it look like shit because nobody ever gets to it in time to repair it. Lol and when you're a homeowner there are so many things you have to take care of there's no need to make more work for yourself and she still could have done something to make it look nice... Like refinish it. She also should have checked if they were level before filling in those cracks. That was pretty new cement, so for it to be cracking it could be a foundational problem.

    @michaelokeefe8709 Рік тому +5

    Just remember....the added texture you put into the concrete paint to prevent slippage not only provides better grip for your shoes but also provides a place for the dirt on your shoes to get stuck to. ...these surfaces tend to get dirty quicker and need scrubbed (not hosed) for a good cleaning. The look is good but the maintenance is higher. Plus...the paint may wear away faster than you realize if the area is in high use. NEVER mean to be negative...It looks good.....just saying...

      Indeed. My toddler was running, slipped on my parents'slippery concrete and fell back on his head hard. He didn't cry, he had seizure like symptoms. Scary.

    Awesome . The cracks mean the ground underneath is setting which is common . To prevent this you will need to fill underneath to prevent further deeper cracking .

      Don’t think she waited long enough before it dried fully . Cause a painter rudely painted my concrete steps even thought I firmly said not too . And it didn’t show foot prints like that ever . Just looked terrible and I had to so sadly live right it . But thankfully I matched the house and nobody really noticed but I did . Asked him y did me do it after I said no cause I like the concrete natural look . And he said he thought it look better .

    I'm not shocked that new pour concrete is cracked already. They literally built your home within a month. You for sure have cracks throughout your house... people mad your painting the concrete... that's the least of your problems lol. Don't make it slick either. You'll regret that the first rainfall. Always ALWAYS use grit in the paint if you paint anything you walk on.
