So they show that only sex with him can make her feel alive. It's that powerful, I see 😃
But why is it absolutely projection ? It doesn't look like it to me. It's more like she feels that she wants him, but she thinks that she needs to fight it, so she fights him. She thinks that it's so wrong and he is so wrong and she is trying to act 'normal' with the vamp, she constantly reminds him that 'he is a thing' but she only talks to herself just to stop wanting it with him. She thinks that if she keeps doing what she's supposed to do with vamps like slaying them and beating them this will somehow return her to 'normal' state. But beating him makes her also passionate so she ends up having sex with him here. If it were an absolute projection she would end up crying or run away, smth like that.

@@Junejane4 I don't know if you watched the entire show, but if not, just wait a bit for the "crying or run away, smth like that"... About the "projection", it seems they were talking about how she treats him badly and can't stand him, but somehow still sticks around. It's like she's showing how much she hates herself in the process. It's her way of transferring her pain to him, instead of getting psychological help. But deep down, she does want him because he's the only one who gets what she's going through right now. But there's also this thing where she resents herself for wanting him because he's soulless. It's a hole mess!! Poor Buffy >

Why doesn’t Lex Luther leave Metropolis to Superman and mess with lower tier superheroes or even a town without superheroes?
It’s probably an ego thing. And since they consider themselves comic book supervillains, they probably internalized the wrong messages. Last time at least Jonathan went the hero route-sort of.

Another good discussion. Spike and Buffy in season 6 is such a whirlwind. It's toxic, yet intimate. It's violent. It's highly erotically charged. It's safe enough for them to be able to explore something they can't explore with anyone else, and yet it's not safe in the traditional sense because it's manipulative and abusive. And none of it would have happened if Buffy wasn't in a deep state of depression. Depression isn't all lethargy and lying in bed. It's also stuff like this.
I will say though that Spike was not just using verbal putdowns and physical smackdowns only as a means to "get through to Buffy". It's also simply who he is. Spike has loved and worshipped through violent means ever since he became a vampire. S*x and violence are completely connected to him. And with the chip gone (at least with regards to Buffy), there is no need for him to hold back anymore.
A toxic cocktail for sure. Can't wait for you to see how it unfolds.

#SUNDAYRUNDOWN What Marketa said about Buffy being kinda abusive does make sense, despite having the chip Spike is still a vampire and doesn't have a soul so Buffy like the rest of the Scoobies doesn't really see him as a person but as Buffy put it just a "dead thing." So it makes sense she would do things to Spike she normally wouldn't do to other people in other relationships. Its also good to remember how much stronger Buffy is than Spike, he couldn't even lift the troll hammer and Buffy was just one arm swinging that thing around, like she said during the end scene he wasn't even been able to hurt her yet. Spike sticking it out makes sense, since he was changed and was under Angelus I don't think he has much experience with healthy non abusive relationships.

People always argue that Spike is somehow special or unique for a vampire, in his obsession for Buffy (that people mistake for love) and is somehow innately more human or “good.”
The only thing that him in check was the chip. The proof being that the first thing he does when he thinks it has malfunctioned is to try and murder someone.

SPOILER FOR THE MOVIE _FULL METAL JACKET_
Willow wanted a pet rat until she could do it herself or until she realized she could do it herself. That's why she didn't go to Giles It's just another aspect of her addiction. Amy's issues are Willow's fault. Amy enabling Willow, along with continuing her own addiction, doesn't stop that. From _Teacher's Pet_ through _Gingerbread_ is basically Willow's story of seasons five and six for Amy, but that doesn't mean Willow not going to Giles wasn't a mistake concerning her own addiction.
5:53-5:57 Not yet. Not until the end of the episode. At this time cut all they've done is kiss.
"Critical, but stable condition." Either the media lied, was told to lie, or wasn't given the truth. It happens all the time.
It took The Normies way too long to realize Spike was faking the headache and that he just then realized he could hit Buffy. "Look at all The Goodies" is proof Spike has always just been locked up with the chip and hasn't ever been good. Trying to talk himself into it doesn't prove he's good deep down either. It shows he's out of practice and has Lima Syndrome. Which is the opposite of Stockholm Syndrome. Lima Syndrome means a captor or abuser forms a positive connection with their victims. He definitely isn't good. And never has been.
Spike having to look to see what Boba Fett's name was and playing with the figure in the background cracks me up.
I've never seen Doctor Who and even I know it's older than BtVS, Pat.
Amy willing to magically give a girl to Willow makes her no better than Willow was when she slept with Tara after erasing her memory. I like to think Willow turning hr down is a small smidgen of guilt over doing that, but considering where her head is at, I'm not sure it flies as a good theory.
The writer of the episode said she walked down to set when they were filming the hieght of Willow and Amy at The Bronze and was gobbsmacked the scene was pulled off.
The Normies realization of the title of the episode was so amusing. The house being smashed around Spike and Buffy as they smash. Such an obvious metaphor that I was in denial about during the original airing, along with so many other people who wanted Spike and Buffy to be in a "good" relationship. The quotation marks are because Buffy hasn't ever really been in a healthy or good relationship.
Buffy is not part demon. Spike's chip doesn't recognize her as alive anymore, after her death. Way to go Scooby Gang. Another complication to resurrection. Being resurrected with CPR didn't make her officially dead in the eyes of magic or science. CPR worked end of story. Magic put skin back on bones and took Buffy's soul from aheaven and stuffed it unnaturally back in her body this time, so Spike's soul doesn't acknowledge that as alive.
The sex scene (as well as this season as a whole for that matter) shows the difference between _Standards and Practices_ on UPN vs the more strict Standards and Practices on The WB in the late '90's and early 2000's.
I agree with Marketa in that while Spike is who he is, it doesn't make Buffy's behavior towards him a good thing. And it never has concerning hitting him while he can't hit back. Buffy herself called Faith a loser for that back in _Enemies._ Buffy should either stake him, or go home and ignore him. The behavior has only climaxed into this with her depression thrown into the mix.
Willow being unaware of everything is part of her addiction. It's all about the magic since the first time her eyes went black (when she sought revenge against Glory) and since resurrecting Buffy. Tara left the abusive relationship for a reason and Willow is in denial because she has been addicted since the beginning and has turned two points of no return.
Jonathan's motivation in the group is that he thinks this is all harmless, and after his last apperance before S3 he found people with the same interests. Andrew is definitely just a follower and idolizes Warren, and Warren is just ceepy.
Back in _Earshot,_ the head canon is Jonathan grabbed the only gun his underage self could get ahold of, not one of practicality. Just like Private Pyle using the M14 in _Full Metal Jacket._

    okay... Perfect Smashed Potatoes:
1 bag of baby gold potatoes
boil them for ~20min, or unil cooked but not breaking apart, should still hold it's shape.
Let them air dry for a few minutes.
Use a skillet or some other fairly heavy flat object, apply firm but even pressure to smash your potato until its around 1/2 to 3/4 inches thick.
Place them all on a sheet pan, apply a light layer of olive oil/your preferred oil, season with your preferred seasoning. I prefer: Cayenne, Garlic powder, Onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper.
Bake them at 450 for 30-45min, or until they get crispy.
Baste some melted butter on each of them, and allow them about 5 minutes longer in the oven.
Remove from oven, add some finishing salt or whatever garnish you want, if you fancy like that, and thank me later.

Even though Amy is back, we can see she is a bad influence on Willow, as she is a powerful witch also, the two of them at having great fun at The Bronze, but at the expense of everyone else, we can see again the magic addiction out of control. Spike knows something has changed in Buffy, and proves it by hitting her with no neural pain for him. It always looked as if it was only a matter of time when Buffy succumbed to her sexual urges and desires, and they two of them with superhuman powers shag so hard they demolish the house! The seeds are now really being sown for the tone of this Season as 'Pandora's Box' is now well and truly opened. The reason the sex scenes were shown now is because of the network change. On the WB it was not allowed, but once they switched to UPN it was ok. James Marsters explained this in an interview at Dublin Comicon in 2019.

I know what Buffy tells Spike is wrong ! Calling him a thing... BUT is she wrong wrong ? The second he thought the chip wasn't working anymore, what did he do ?? He tried to kill a girl... I'm not saying telling those kinds of things to people isn't wrong. IT CLEARLY IS ! But, I can't fully blame Buffy here because it's not a normal situation. It's Buffy !! We're not talking about some human guy in the real world, we're talking about a vampire that killed a lot of people, tortured... and was trying to kill again the second he thought he could... Yes calling him a thing is mean. But technically... He's a vampire, a killer, a monster... a lot of things. Man, is not what would came first in mind for him... (Important to note that i LOOOOOVE Spike ! But... this episode and the way he treats Buffy is no better than the way she treats him. He knows what she went through and is still going through... The way he brings up all of that -the chip and the link to her resurrection...-, or the simple fact that he fixate on their kisses knowing she's depressed and vulnerable... He's being equally abusive, if not more. But we are just more accustomed to see Spike act like that than Buffy I guess).

Great reaction and your entertaining comments are just fun. I will wait a few episodes before fully commenting on Buffy and Willow but this is a good time to step back a little on the Season. BTVS has always been about more than Vampires and fights. Look at some of the themes emerging: depression, loneliness, challenges of a teenage single Mother, toxic relationships, the blurring of sexual relationships and violence, intelligence without morality etc. What other show even tries these subjects much less a teen supernatural action show? What other show makes its lead actress depressed and also abusive. Then make the popular male lead violent and obsessive. That’s the definition of gutsy.
