    Just bought a 2022 SXT AWD new off the lot with the blackout and cold weather package. This was a complete shock that I bought this. I’ve driven Silverado’s for 15 years, but always wanted a classic car to cruise around in. My wife has a Tahoe with a hitch, so I decided to take the plunge. When I heard that this car came with an AWD option, 300 HP V6 (That-was what the North Star in the 2000’s Cadillac’s with premium fuel could make) and a fuel economy around 23 mpg… and costing around 33k with the discounts I got…. This was a no brainer. I have yet to try it in the winter weather, she only has 550 miles on her, but thanks for the video, this gives me peace of mind

    Man watching on my phone I can hardly tell where the road is. That’s a lot of snow, I’ve only had one snow storm where I live (in my lifetime) that was that bad. We where snowed in for 3 days. Just shows how when people are used to it they can clean it up much faster! Love the new car!

    When I was a Deputy Sheriff in Wyoming we drove AWD Chargers for all 7 months of winter in tons of snow. No problems plus if it was bad, (it had to be really bad, like well over a foot) we took a spare patrol truck out but, that was rare in our part of the state.

    I live in the Lake Tahoe region, I had a RWD Charger, used to drive in snow a good bit. I’m in the market for a Challenger hopefully this summer. Sometimes people will give folks that drive these type vehicles in the snow an odd look, but if it’s your only vehicle sometimes you’ve no choice.
    I had Pirellis when I first bought it, they were too soft, not good for daily driving. The last set I had were M+S, the brand escapes me, they were Z rated and about $250 pop, those did really well in the snow.
    So 305hp and is this the Penstar V6 and 8-spd.? My Charger was the 5.7, loved it, but I did test drive the V6 variant and I plan on getting another Charger for a daily, the Challenger will be my baby.
    Will keep up, oddly I’ve been subbed to you for years, this is the first time I’ve seen a video pop up in a long long while, damn YT.

    Hi. I'm thinking of getting a Challenger GT. Thing is .. most of the later ones have a front splitter.. I'm in New England, and we get a good amount of snow. I'm leery of getting a Challenger GT, and with the splitter, have the car into a de facto snow plow.. Thoughts??

    • @cutlerylover
      @cutlerylover  3 роки тому +1

      @@Roman-eg8bw thanks, there is a thick rear pilar because of the design I have zero issues with driving and seeing the blind spots in fact if you align your side mirrors right there really is no blindspot at all my only issue is less visibility backing into my driveway at night, not a big deal there is a backup camera that works very well but doesn't cover the side of the car obviosuly and my driveway is curved with boulders along it so I just go slow to ensure I dont scrape one, but Im going to eventually upgrade the reverse light to something brighter other than that I love it :) Rear window is big enough o see fine as well, one thing is the car is long but im use to a bigger car in general some peopel complain its harder to park either they rub curbs or stick out but that is just something to get use to where your car is, backseat in these challengers are the biggest in their class compared to the mustangs and camaros but dont be fooled its not comfortable at all uless your a child or short and skinny, but fine for trips within an hour or so for an adult...

    I've heard that AWD is not on all the time. How does the car know there's snow on the road?

    • @GoodKong.BadKong
      @GoodKong.BadKong Рік тому +1

      I realize this comment was a year ago, but I'll answer. The AWD system in these cars engage when certain conditions are met, those conditions are:
      - the temperature outside drops below 40° F.
      -The windshield wipers are engaged for more than 5 minutes.
      - At least one tire has traction problems even for just a moment.
      - Sport mode is engaged.
      - Traction control (or ESC) is turned off.
      ...and I think thats it.. Its an automatic AWD system so it turns on and off by itself and can not be controlled by the driver in any way shape or form. HOWEVER, putting the car in neutral will disengage the AWD system but it will kick back on as soon as the car is put back into drive. The AWD system will disengage automatically after a short while when none of those conditions are no longer present. And yes, driving in AWD mode will burn more gas than in RWD mode (these cars are RWD bias). I would say driving in AWD mode burns almost as much gas as driving a V8, though I don't have any official numbers, I'm just going based on what I can observe. And yes, you can still do donuts in the snow in these vehicles even with AWD engaged. Simply turn off traction control (ESC) and off you go. Additionally, you can put it into manual mode (with traction control off) and stay in a low gear and have as much fun as your heart desires (be careful dont blow your transmission though).

    • @GoodKong.BadKong
      @GoodKong.BadKong Рік тому +1

      Ok, what I meant to say was there are ways you can force AWD, but you can't turn it off yourself. (You can not force RWD unfortunately.) It is still an automatic AWD system though.

    Modification wise, at minimum, the car needs Oil Slick and Smoke Screen. I mean okay I know everyone's going to make some BIG PEDANTIC COMMENT about Pennsylvania gun laws not allowing machine gun mounts on the front like LAH DEE DAH gun law experts, but I would definitely go with Oil Slick and Smoke Screen at minimum. I'd recommend missiles too, to take out helos, but I'm guessing you're a little cash poor right now.
    One possibility is to have a horn that plays a bar of Battle Hymn of the Republic or Yankee Doodle when you hit it. I think that'd confuse 97% of people, enrage 1%, and highly amuse the other 2% and pretty much everything I do in life is targeted at that meeting those percentage goals.
