    Thank you so very much for taking the time to teach in these videos. I totally appreciate it. I just wanted to comment on laying down a floor for best cleanliness. I have worked in Pharmaceuticals for 27 years now and know what they do to ensure best cleanliness in the manufacturing areas. Just like you have done, one piece is best. However, what is done in Pharma is to run that one piece up the wall by a good 4 inches and create seams in corners. Then, that sealant bead would be at the top of the end 4 inches up the wall. You would clue the wall floor rise to the wall. This way you can clean with wet mop and no leaks can happen as there is no sealant on the floor level. If the sealant wears out as it will you don't need to watch it as diligently since the seal is 4 inches up the wall. I know it's not pharmaceutical manufacturing but is a good practice. Just sharing! Keep up the good work. I'll be watching all your videos as I work to build out my own trailer to save money. Could you please do a video on the electrical where you take it all the way and attached the cables? Please!

    Whenever I spread glue for floors, I find it easiest to pour out a big blob of glue and then just push it around with the trowel. The grooves in the trowel leave just the right amount of glue when you push it firmly into the surface while holding the trowel at around a 45 degree angle. That's what those grooves are designed for. When you get to the end, just use the trowel to lift any excess glue and put it back in the container.
    Also, instead of doing a couple feet at a time, it is easiest to just glue the entire half of the floor and then lift the flooring and slowly roll it out, pushing it down with your feet as you go.
    Further, instead of trying to use that little hand roller, most equipment rental shops should be able to rent you a 100 lb flooring roller. That makes easy work of the majority of the floor, then you can use your hand roller for the edges. It also saves your knees, since you push it while standing. That entire floor could be glued, rolled out, and trimmed in about an hour.
    One final tip is to keep a bottle of charcoal lighter fluid and a rag handy to clean up any excess glue. It cleans it up, and leaves a bit of oily film on the surface to reduce the chances that the glue will re-adhere strongly while you are wiping with a glue filled rag. This oily film will come up easily when you do your final cleaning, after there is no danger of spreading glue everywhere. Put the fluid on the rag, not the floor, because you don't want it seeping underneath the flooring and damaging the effectiveness of the glue.

    Possible idea for your next installation in a Food Truck... Do the flooring cut before you put the walls up, this way you can cut the flooring closer to the wall a little, and then when you set in the wall, the wall will cover up the cut lines, and you won't scuff or scrape the SS wall. Thoughts?

    I love your videos. I’ve learned a lot. I did want to throw out a suggestion for the flooring; and, that is to use a scribe to mark the rounded nose of the trailer and then use tin snips to cut it. Also, what about renting a heavy roller from HD used for installing vinyl flooring? I’ve subscribed to your awesome channel; but, how do I watch all of them in order?

    I think I would have put the floor in first and layed something on top to protect it. I would have also went up the walls about 4 inches, so if by accident anything should be spilled, it can't penetrate under the rubber flooring and rot the wood underlayment. Just my own thinking.

    • @fbaltierrez

    I am building a new food truck right now I think I will use this flooring but I think I will put the flooring in first because then I don't need to cut the flooring I can just over lap around all the walls glue it in place then when I put the stainless steel walls in they will hide the fact that I didn't cut it, and a bonus it will be water tight for sure.

    First off, THANK YOU for your videos! They are teaching us so much as I convert a trailer for my wife's business. Haven't watched them all but we're going to. I have a couple of ignorant questions: 1) Why don't you just lap the flooring up the wall a few inches to avoid the silicone corner sealant? I've seen it done before - just don't know how well it worked or if you had a specific reason for not doing that. 2) What was the outcome at the end with glue? Was it too thick like you noted? How did the rest of it go or did you find a solution to the "bubbling"? Thanks!

    • @fbaltierrez
      @fbaltierrez  3 роки тому +1

      Didn't like the look of it like that to be honest the silicone corners seal is perfect looks real clean. The floor turned out great no bubbling I love it wish I had it in my truck but I have the diamond plate

    @5:50 why not just slide it over 6-8 inches to the right side. Then you have a perfect cut already and only have to cut the one side. 1/2 the work, twice the results. See again at @8:40. If you slide it over, only have to cut one side.

    I like your videos but one thing I think you do not put links for a lot of the things you use like this rug. I have a question, I like a regular flooring that's a white wood look. Is that acceptable? It's the look I want. My trailer will not only sell food it will be used for some camping events so I want a house floor look.

    Did it end up being too much glue?
    Could I do glue in the 4 corners and make an X in the middle to meet the corners with the adhesive and will that be enough rather than gluing the whole floor?

    That type of floor won’t pass inspection because health department wants aluminum diamond plate with 3/8 radius and 4” walls on the sides. So grease and water stays in the hallway and not underneath the cooking appliances.

    • @fbaltierrez
      @fbaltierrez  2 роки тому +4

      That depends on the health department that the truck is in. Maybe in yours it won't pass over here with flying colors

      Good morning. I have a trailer that im wanting to convert into a food trailer. It looks like it may have been a horse trailer at some point that someone added a propane tank smoker to. Im wanting to eliminate adding as much weight as posssible during the build. So with that being said does a food trailer HAVE to be insulated and also could i only use stainless behind the cooking equipment and under hood? Im trying to avoid having to add excessive wood if possible.
