Drake can’t beat this
Never ever, how He dear even think beef whit this real King of rap
yeah he can tubs
@@rasakgamez5892 it doesn't mean drake isn't good at what he does
@@byoxanaxyeah those melodies
Drakes already got him beat on every front. Like EVERY FRONT. if you know you know. If you know the way broadly, you will see it in everything.
I for one am glad that King Kendrick self-censored so that I can play this with my daughter around.
❤❤❤
Lol fuck you. Ruining the whole experience because of the censor
I feel art should never be censored and children deserve to experience art in its pure form.
@@TamiaPeach i agree but his ability to self-censor is incredible in itself
except for that "fuck your truce" in maad city. he was feeling that one💀
The algorithm brought this greatness to me in a post-euphoric splendor...
absolutely true, vibing so hard right now
This is a comment before the diss. You're a true fan.
Imagine getting a pulitzer winning artists to perform one of the most important albums of the decade, but profanity is a no-no
This performance is broadcast on live tv in some areas. I agree, I hate that he had to sensor his lyrics but that’s the reason.
@@CRGtx325lame ass reason
Honestly the way Kendrick self-censors isn’t even that bad
@@ShottaKenyaI was impressed
@@ShottaKenya I agree. The man is gifted.
Breath control is crazy! Not Like Us brought me here.

brought me here too!
check out the rest of his discography. its flawless IMO
Hell yeah, soul food 😋
@@ccc-ij4wm im super familiar lol. Love all his work, Section 80 & GKMC are my favs tho :)
He did "Free?" LIVE!??? I'm a musician and I've almost never heard a song I can't figure out or play along to and this song was always one of them and I figured it was just something he could only do in the studio, this shit is wild
Its just a minor blues, very basic jazz

A shame that they made him censor his own lyrics.
It's played on tv, pbs no less, it's hard to see a way around that
Love how he got the audience to uncensor stuff for him
n word still slipped through on for free lol
this.. ain't free
yes it totally ruins the show - I couldn't even listen. America is dumb, our president can spew racist bullshit, we can televise bombing other countries live and show unlimited violence, but god forbid somebody says the word 'dick'
As a fan of jazz, I've been sleeping on Kendrick. His Drake beef brought me here!
His whole discography has jazz and soul influences but To Pimp a Butterfly is the most overt about it. It's even got Thundercat on a couple tracks. Highly recommend if you haven't listened to it yet. It's without a doubt one of the greatest albums of the 2010's.
@@BirdNoise77 Good looks, gonna check it out!
@@wy206 Enjoy!

@@TGR2.0 exactly. Those his predecessors so his job is to surpass them in different ways and move the culture forward.
So glad Kendrick walked through Dre's doors. That west coast funky stuff is all over Kendricks music and its perfect with the band.
Also credit to Terrace Martin
Im having a self quarantine concert
Same bruv
same here
Me too...my fourth one of the night so far. Actually...I guess that means I'm having a music festival then. Idk
Totally! This concert was a blast and it's one of these things we're thankful to be able to watch. Master piece of the 21th century.
I honestly did not know about Kendrick Lamar and his music untilI saw this show on Austin City Limits a few years ago...its was EPIC! I’m in my early 50’s...and I love him! His lyrics are incredible and the music creates a true vibe...he never disappoints...love his musicianship✨💥
man that the blacker the berry song felt so powerful in front of a white audience
lol
do you understand the meaning of that song? it is definitely not for white people to feel shocked here
Well he’s talking to black people in the song but sure
best rapper alive
No question
absolutely
No doubt
facts
he so much ahead in the game its not even close
I wish more Hip Hop artists performed with an actual band playing. As someone who's more into rock and jazz this appeals to me a lot more than just rapping with a basic beat, it scratches that instrumental itch for me and makes the rapping actually interesting.
I bet ticket bills would multiply.
@@djfeelings not really, most rock bands have the same ticket price as hip hop artists. But rehearsing and practicing with the band would take a lot of time tho
Ironically, the first time I seen a full band at a show is over 10 years ago at a Drake concert. The reality is that most hip hop shows don’t make enough money to afford the band. I remember specifically a Flo-Rida show where the band did not come because they didn’t sell enough tickets to pay them. If you wanna see more bands at hip hop shows, pay for and support the hip hop artist you like so they can afford it.
@@DreFromHeavena big difference would be bands on average have more simple stage dressing.
I way prefer to see live musicians it is it course going to be rehearsed and rehearsed until it runs like clockwork (probably also lots of notes in peoples monitors) but having a full band just feels more organic.
More rappers should play with a live band, this mix of heavy guitars and rap is gorgeous
💯💯💯💯
So many people forget just how orchestral and GRAND hip-hop used to be. Violins, big horn hits, pianos, heavy guitar riffs, choirs, the whole nine yards.
Saw WuTang Clan live last year and they had a live band. The way the guitarist was shredding RZA beats was great and drumma boy was going off too!
His TPAB era live band is incredible. Holy shit.
Yeah! The good thing is that the band remains the same.

Why haven’t I seen this????! I’ve seen damn near every kdot performance vid. This is why I search his name every week or so.
Was just thinking that...like, WHAT? This was uploaded 3 YEARS AGO?! How have I not seen in this after my many search queries?
Same I'm always checking for new Kendrick anything 😂
I m saying the same thing!!
Hahaha
I remember catchin' this late night on PBS! 👌😎
I am grateful my 14 year old son introduced me to Kendrick Lamar. Best I have heard. My God !!
Better late than never I guess. Thank you Kendrick !
glad that you listened to him
You got an amazing kid
What now?…….. a rapper not using vocal tuning and quantizing?!?!……performing the music live with real instruments?!?……what is this man, an actual musician?
Long live the king
Man I wish he’d do a TPAB tour again. So upset at the age I was when this released I wasn’t able to do a lot on my own. This album is top 5 all time
Was so lucky to see him in 2016 when he came to Melbourne for TPAB
Shame i live in a small country, no one comes here
Same
U think u have it bad
I live in south africa
Bro
okay but when he performed ‘these walls ‘ and he started with the guitar THEN he added the bass .. It was already too much for me to handle.. THEN he added the pre chorus .. I had to pause it and breathe bc omg that’s what I needed
Damn near nutted when the bass came in
Sir Iceman II literallyyyy omg I thought I was the only one
Music head vibes
I felt that when I heard the dark side of the moon by pink floyd. I forgot which song. I'm not into classic rock. I'm a hip hop head with some punk stuff that i heard growing up with an emo sister that grew out of that phase. I didn't know that classic rock could do that. Tears fell involuntarily. It happened with to pimp a butterfly on the song "u" and the last song on the album.
@@user-jv8oe9gn1s okay first , thank you for the suggestion bc i will listen to that and omfgggg YESSSS i def feel youuu
The little girl in me that didn’t have cable and woke up at 10 to watch this on pbs …. Is smiling!
This was on PBS? Like Sesame Street? 😳
Kendrick hands spit more than most of these rappers
Kendrick's stage presence and command of the music is magnificent.
Never thought 10 years later ID be listening to this and live to see the day I’m doing some random dance stuff to this with my son in my living room in my own home I own.

Blacker The Berry is one of the HARDEST HEAVIEST rap songs to ever be produced. Up there with some of this heaviest metal grooves.
heaviest metal grooves bruh (imagine never listening to rock music)
@@hunterfamily7043nah, the tones are there.
Darken the synth and keys, add some chuggs following the kick drum. It's at least some nice sludgy rock with not too many changes.

8 years later im here....
What fucking show
As much as I respect the skill it takes to make the lyrics PG-13 and not constantly slip up, I would still prefer to just hear the lyrics as they were written.
I think how good he is at censoring shows how deeply he is taking in his own lyrics as hes singing them. Not many people could do that as well as he does here. Also he probably practices it alot
I wish I found out about Kendrick Lamar earlier.
damn i would love to be in this band, the arrangements sound so fun to play
God, if only this performance wasn’t censored… still one of the best 🔥🔥
amazing live band and performance. happy to see a rapper lets his bassists play solo lol
