I posted recently on reddit about the video glitch you experienced on level 9 and 42. Apparently, it is a long-standing bug which as of the official 0.247 has not been fixed. Though someone forked it and fixed the issue.
I have found a way to finish it with only 1 credit. As you saw I was just a few frames short of getting the turbo on level 49. Now, I have found a way to burn less fuel on level 48 by keeping the inside lane for the first few corners. 😀😀😀 But the new score is under 5 million (4993990), I posted an update video to show it off.
The path I took in the TAS is probably too hard to do in real life, but now that we know that you burn less fuel when taking the inside lanes of turns, there might be a possible path. But I think the biggest challenge is getting there with just one credit. I'm sure I'm not that good.😀

I played this in an arcade in '87 if I remember correctly, lots of fun , nowhere as good as you!
Banned due to disqualified, not to finished 50 levels.
Never knew that you couldn't finish the game on 1 credit.
I guess that explains why I never got a 1cc.
