Man, this is 1 year old and that whole year i never somehow seen this. Of all arcade TAS, this flew under my radar. Such a good one but i need to know about that really really weird glitch with the trees. Was that really what happened or is my video being glitchy. Nevermind, seen that were you slowing down to stay in the curve i think. Or was the car actually sliding along?
From all the videos I saw including the ones on Twin Galaxies, all path give different points and this path seem the one that give the most points. I will probably verify that by myself eventually. I may also do a video with the 'trick' since it is possible to get over 60m points on that path.
Hi!! im trying to learn how to make a TAS for arcade racing games ( games that use w/steering wheel). All was made with mame?? some tips?? i was really good on san francisco rush in the past, but now you know, work, family, etc i dont have time to practice at that level. So , i wanna make tas videos. Sorry if there are some mistakes, english its not my native language. also, nice video! outrun was really amazing
I use my own TAS editor with a modified version of MAME. More info here: www.youtube.com/@Prog61/community You should check BizHawk which support arcade games, but I am not sure it work with racing games.
Outstanding run! I'm curious as to whether you chose the optimal path for total points or lowest time, as I have seen faster times (without using the offroad trick) on Stages 1, 3, 4, and 5. Due to errors in the program code, a faster time does not always produce a higher score. Also, the displayed stage times are incorrect on Stages 1 through 4. One must view the INP file frame by frame when approaching each checkpoint to determine the accurate stage times.
I use the path that is used for the hi scores on Twin Galaxies, it is probably the best for Hi score, but I did not test the other paths myself. I plan to eventually TAS the other paths to verify that and see which is the fastest.
@@Prog61 Twin Galaxies high score? Thank you sir, that would be me. :-) I wasn't asking about the stage selections; the optimal path for high score is: Right -> Left -> Right -> Right (due to the number of extra seconds given to the player at the beginning of each new stage). I was more curious about your choice to hug the inside of each curve throughout the race, particularly when taking the right branch at the end of stages 1, 3, and 4.
You made the video that I used as a reference? Very good work, you are much better than me at that game. I was comparing my stage time with yours, but now I see that those times are incorrect, thank you for pointing that to me. But I was also comparing our scores on the first frame that the stage time is displayed just to be sure that I was ahead :) My goal for this first TAS was just to hug the inside of each curve more than someone could possibly do in real life, to see what difference it make on the final score. I did this TAS in a short time, I am sure it is possible to improve it.
I always wanted to see a TAS of this great game.
Thank you very much for your video.

Much of the Japanese who was playing this game was requesting to make the time short more than I got a high score.
(A translation site is used.)
yakuza fans when they see a japanese person irl
I've remember playing the arcade verson of this, the seats tilt back and forth.
This was relaxing to watch
Outrun = Highway Star + Rad Racer ^^

Superb TAS, i don't know if all directions gives same points or not.
