Georgetown would likely have felt more comfortable to you, but feeling comfortable isn’t what college is about. College is about expanding your mind and perspective on the world - hard to do when you stay in your own familiar world. So, good for you!! You have an exciting journey ahead, and we’re looking forward to going on it with you!

Congrats!!! I go to UCLA and personally, I think you are going to love it. Campus is indeed big but it is gorgeous and the size means there is so much to explore; you never really get bored and there are a gajillion awesome places to study. People are also very friendly and you have direct access to Westwood where there are a lot of great restaurants and fun events (oh, and a very fancy vintage theater that a lot of Hollywood blockbusters have their movie premieres at, such as Spiderman 👀). I mean, I’m definitely biased, but I really think you made the right choice. My experience at UCLA has been overwhelmingly positive and I have absolutely no regrets about my decision. Look forward to seeing you on campus in the fall, and go Bruins!

Having family who went to both: Georgetown is a bit more liberal artsy, UCLA more full-university experience. Except for the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown, UCLA has more opportunities. However, the real clincher is that UCLA is on the opposite coast from your home. The adventure of setting off to a new and radically different place from your hometown is an essential element of a great college experience (and, frankly, growing up). Good luck & enjoy!

Do u think going to college like an hour away is bad. It’s a highly respected and prestigious school that I really loved. Even though I rlly wanted to leave my hometown (well I still am) I’m mad that my favorite school is sorta close by.

Wow, about to graduate from UCLA in a month and this came up on my page :) Has been an amazing experience overall. The campus is gorgeous, there's so many people to meet and things to do, generally people are just friendly and inspiring. It's super hard for so many reasons, but in the best way! I've grown up so much having to navigate my way through a large school with not a ton of hand-holding, and I'm so much better off for it. And it's just been so fun!! Also, I've learned like an insane amount of shit. I look back on the knowledge I came in with freshman year and I'm just baffled by how much I've learned in my time here. And yes the dorm + food life is pretty sweet.

Yayyy congrats! You can’t go wrong with either, but being able to move away from home for college is an incredible learning experience. And, of course, I’m guessing UCLA makes a little bit more sense financially since Georgetown gave you no aid at all lol. I don’t even know you, but I’m happy for you. You seem very sweet and kind :)

Ayyy. I had the choice between Georgetown and UCLA as well in 2020. Since I am an instate student, it made a lot more sense for me to stay in LA. Congrats btw!! UCLA is an awesome school

This is for the best, I think. UCLA has a more solid reputation than Georgetown (which, to be clear, doesn’t mean it is a better school, only that the name [or brand, firm, call it the way you want] is stronger).

HAHAH we kinda went opposite paths - I’m from California and chose to go to Georgetown next year over my UC acceptances because I wasn’t sure I wanted to stay here my whole life. You’re going to have a great time in California, the weather is great :)

Haha I was down to UCLA/Georgetown too for my college decision, but I ended up selecting Georgetown SFS over UCLA to attend this fall. Amazing choice though! There is no wrong choice - any choice you make for yourself in your own unique situation is the right choice!!

There's no financial aid at UCLA if you’re out of state. Not worth it. If I'm paying full, I'd rather go to Harvard or Yale.
