  • Unboxing the World’s largest centipede species Scolopendra gigantea, tied with Scolopendra galapagoensis and Scolopendra viridicornis.
I titled the video as a homage to The Dark Den!
Also showing a good comparison of a centipede vs tarantula and the Scolopendra gigantea showcasing his/her venomous centipede bite!
    Hope you enjoy.

Centipedes are the best fun! I had birdeaters, scorpions and centipedes, liked the centipedes the best! They sound like horses racing round after their prey. Always wanted a mouse spider or two but never found one. Eventually gave up raising all these guys due to increased workload and increased age. Now I am almost 60 and husband gone so I might return to it soon.

Agree! Centipedes and some tarantulas are very active hunters. Scorpions are mostly opportunistic predators.
My Vietnamese giants are extremely alert to the surrounding, shooting around upon slight stimuli.

Imagine opening the inner box, ferreting about with your hands only to find out that the centipede had gotten out and was loose inside! Cripes!! :-((
I have an almost compulsive hatred of centipedes. Totally fascinated by ALL invertebrates though. Much more interesting than mammals. BORING!!
However, when I was a kid, and this is 50 odd years ago now, I always used to ferret about in our large garden in Sussex and one day, under a large rock, I caught a nice big orange centipede. The bugger, quick as lightning, turned and sunk it's pincers into the end of my finger. And it hurt like I had being stung a dozen times by honey bees. It gave me a lot of respect for them that did, I can tell you!!
When you opened the tub for the spider, I was thinking it's only gonna be 1/10th the size of the one that came out. Lovely looking beast though.
I'd love to have a tarantula, but my missus has a very deep seated fear of spiders, so, unfortunately, that's out of the question :-((

Whatever// No lol house centipedes are creepy, but if anything they’re more beneficial to you than these things could ever be. They might be worse at killing things that fly but they’ll hunt better than spiders, and they’ll have no interest in you. Even if they do manage to bite you, it won’t be so bad for most people, and you’d have to really try to get that to happen.

Centipedes feed on lizards, cockroaches and small rodents in the house. They usually run away if they detect humans and only attack when agitated.

Hi! Hows it going? I was wondering if you can point me in the right direction to finding a Scolopendra galapagoensis or Scolopendra gigantea for sale. Ive been looking for a while online and I havent had any luck. The few places that do sell them never have them in stock. Anyway, any help would be much appreciated. Loved the video btw!

I live in hawaii, we have this size centipede here, also a small blue one, the centipedes here look exactly the size and color of the one in the video. I've crushed a 10" one with my skateboard.

I find centipedes repulsive but fascinating at the same time. It is definately the most colourful centipede I have seen. Have you watched the "Brave Wilderness" guy's film of being bitten by a Giant Desert Centipede?

If this venomous box of tricks grows to the size of a Hawaiian or Indian centerped you're gonna need a tank the size of a tennis Court!!!!
