I DEMOLISHED a Cottage With My Excavator!!

- This week me and dad knocked down this old cottage! It's getting replaced with a New Build. We used the grab on the Kobelco SK75 and the Rototilt on my Kubota to demolish the house and sort the materials. The brick from the old cottage will be getting reused for the New Build. The wood had to be burned on site as it had woodworm in it.
Good video Amy. As a carpenter, I agree with the demolition of that cottage. You could see that it had been partially modernised decades ago BUT it was definitely time to start again from scratch.
Absolutely, it’s a shame seeing them go. But sometimes you just have to go with the times 😊
@@the_digger_girl WE WANT TO SEE THE VIDEO YOU OPERATE THE HYDRAULIC HAMMER BUT DONT PUT IT IN FAST FORWARD
Glad to see the young ones are interested in your profession !!!!
I love that you’re in a KX080… me too! (At least most days.) It’s a great versatile machine!
Thank you for the hand-controls review. It highlights how skilled the operator of amachine like this needs to be - no small undertaking. Just don't see the Rototilts used in the States very much.
I just have total respect for all accomplished tradespeople such as yourself.
Outstanding.
Thank you very much!😊
Amy,
You daughter is an absolute beauty!
I love how your Dad's work looked more fun to her,
and even more so, that she took your spot, behind your Dad.
Watching you smile, while talking about being little, and behind Dad
was just the sweetest thing.
You're all doing a great job of watering the seeds, to grow your kids into
fine adults, such as yourself.
I hope you enjoyed Dublin, and I'm looking forward to what's next here.
Hi Amy, I really enjoyed that video and it was lovely to see your little girl stood behind Papa like you was many years ago. Really lovely to see and I hope she takes after her mummy, great content something different. Thank you😊😊😊😊
Me to!! Thank you so much 😊
Another great video, great to see you and your dad working back together - you must enjoy those jobs 👍
Absolutely 😊
Great vid that claw and clamp are worth their weight in gold. Did the job perfectly. Proper way to demolish the house good job burning the wood. Very enjoyable😊
Another great video Amy and doesn't that old timber burn so well, nice to see you and your dad working together and getting to see a sample of what the old cottages were like, that's history that you have there in Scotland and the UK that of course we don't have here in NZ only being able to look back 150 years, great to see both your young ones watching what's going on.
Lovely and dry makes it easier! Thank you so much for watching and commenting 😊
Hi Amy thanks for sharing another awesome video, great to see you back working with your dad. You can certainly see where you get your skills from watch your dad he's some operate. Man that was some fire be like working in summer next to that. It's awesome to see you with your daughter in the cab with you fantastic memories, you are one very proud mum. Just imagine how your dad feels having them with him in the machine. Maybe one day you will have them working with you, thanks for showing us how the different attachments work. Hope you have a fantastic week take care and stay safe 👍 😊
Thank you so much, what a lovely comment. I’m so grateful they can jump in the cab with papa and hopefully they can for many more years 😊
Great start to my Sunday. Good to see you working with your dad I see previous comments about the slates I take it they were beyond saving. 👍😀
Yea everything was unfortunately. Everything will be getting reused as much as possible, like the rubble for building the road up 😊
Lovely to see you working with your Dad Amy lworked with mine for almost 30 years diggers and lorrys barely a cross word between us in that time sadly not with us anymore what I would give to have him back with me for one more job cherish every minute because one day hopefully a long long time you will be on your own and you'll miss him so much. Great videos BTW take care.
The more older I’m getting I do. I love working with him🥰
TheDiggerGirl another brilliant video. The views you get to experience on a working day are incredible. Terrible shame the cottage couldn’t be saved, but I look forward to seeing what replaces it.
The views never get old. Thank you for watching 😊
I agree with the demolition of the cottage as long as the new one is made to look traditionally built.
It shows how good the rotation is.
Great video as always.
Absolutely. Thank you 😊
Good video Amy Great start to my Sunday. Good to see you working with your dad
Thank you for watching. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday 😁
Hi Amy, another great video, great team work with you and Dad, only for the Rototilt, and grab, it would be impossible, and your wee girl loves being inside the diggers.👍🇮🇪 bye Amy
For sure, it’s a game changer! Thank you for watching 😊
Good afternoon The Digger Girl awesome ur doing demolition buildings
Having looked after many a grade listed building in my working career, I always find it a little sad when a building has been left and hasn't been looked after. I always wonder about the people that lived or worked in them and think of the stories those walls could tell, if they could speak. Just hope that the building replacing the one your taking down, lasts as long and is also able to hold lots of memories.👍
Aw absolutely there would be some history behind these walls. Sadly the people passed and it was left to family who live elsewhere where with there own lives.
The Rototilt and grab makes life so much easier and safer on a demolition job like that. I have memories of trying to move stone with a transport box on the tractor but thankfully times have changed for the better. Great video as usual. Thanks for sharing your week with us. The family business will be in safe hands for years to come
Yea they really do. Life changing! Thank you very much 😊
Amy,
We had a show here in the States called, This Old House.
In about 1990, they took on a 200+ year old house.
(the original Owner was a signer of the US Constitution)
She was more firewood then house, really.
The original builder, never owned a Square, or a Plumb Bob,
and most likely a drunkard. lol!
She needed new foundations, and everything fixed, or replaced,
from there up.
If they had torn it all down, and built an exact turn key copy, with
everything to done to pass modern day codes. It would have
been $360,000.00.
But because it was a repair, and not a replace TV Show.
The owner ended up on the hook for $3.2 MILLION Dollars.
So I see this as a good call.
Here in Philly Slate roofs were all the rage in the early 1800's
because it stopped fires from spreading to your house.
But now only 2 countries, make new slate, so a 18"X24" costs
$136 dollars a piece. So not a lot of Slaters fighting over jobs here.
Another great video I tried to get my daughter into construction as would have loved to work with her every day but she didn't like it lol but I bet your dad is so happy that you 2 are working together it's so cool if you ask me can't wait to see what next weeks video brings
Ahh you never know, one day she might find her way back! Thank you so much 😊
Another great video. Nice to see the Kobelco in action 👍
It’s a cracking machine 😊
Hello ! I am setting my tiltrotator for the first time, so I prefer to set it as operators usually do. So your setting is as such : Rotation on left hand back, tilt on right hand front and claw on right back. Is it ?
Always very happy at learning with you and looking how you do the things 🙏
Hello Amy I am fascinated when you drive trucks Oh when you operate the excavator Greetings from Santiago de Chile
A very good Sunday morning to you all from Wellington Somerset
Ahh thank you for watching 😊
Nicely done you 2 !!!
That is the job i always wanted to do but never got the chance!, i love watching demolition, when i was a kid they never had excavators like that, just tracked loaders like the Cat 951 and International B100, things are certainly a lot easier now!, it's rare to see a fire on a demolition site these days, it was common years ago.
It’s such a satisfying job!😊
Awesome demolition derby 😊
Great job Amy, just like the west coast of Ireland never stops 🌧
It’s been endless this winter. Spring can’t come quick enough 😅
Very good vlog Amy I enjoyed watching it ❤❤
Great video Amy when that fire was burning it was we ideal time to get that grab and plop dads pickup on top of it 😂😂😂 did it manage a Mile down the road and back to yard 😂😂😂🙈🙈
😂😂 you’re spot on, it did cross my mind 😂
That cottage and land, if sold here in the States, would probably be worth a few hundred thousand dollars.
It’s like a game but you show it in real time. Love it 🙌👍😂👌☘️🇨🇮
Hi Amy nice hair plaits! Handy for a bad hair day, 😂 I learnt like this with my dad, he ran cat 955s and dozers and that was cramped in the cab even at 8yrs old 😂people will moan about saving slates, timber, but sometimes it’s easier to do it your way, 👍nice content working with ya dad . Waited a week for vlog and you didn’t disappoint super digger mom 👍you and your family stay safe from the 🏴and keep smiling because alot of people would walk an extra mile for one of your smiles
It was a hair mask day 😂 thank you so much what a lovely comment! Thank you for watching 😊
@@the_digger_girl your welcome, me and my crew are working moving rocks on sea defence again. It pays the bills
It’s interesting to see you guys work without a thumb Here in Washington (us) most machines have thumbs
Yea I’ve seen so many in the US use them. They really aren’t common here at all. It’s funny how everywhere has different ways of doing things 😊
You are both doing a good job I like this video as I have watched it three times today are you going to build a new cottage that is the way your son and daughter will learn as that is now I learned farming with my dad ❤❤😂
Thank you so so much 😊😊 a new house will be built here and it’s my children yea 🥰
Hi amy, have to say you and your, dad make a good team 🎉
Took time but we got there 😂
Just found your channel! Definitely subscribing. The inside honesty don’t look too bad. I would try and save it if I bought it.
Looking at the way the mortar crumbles into dust those walls were not worth saving either. Enjoying the real-time action over the time lapse.
Ahh thank you so much for this feedback!! Really appreciate it. I’m still pretty new to this YT game 😅
Smashing video as always keep up the good work 👍🏻
ANOTHER AMAZING AND INTERESTING VIDEO THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Thank you for watching 😊
For a moment i thought you were going to try and play the piano with the grabs. 😂
Could be a good game!! 😅
Looks like a great spot to build a cottage/house Has it got much land with it ? Is your daughter not as keen on being a plant operator ? we don't see her with you as much as Johnny boy x
Another brilliant video as always 😊
Great video, always a shame when something with so much history is demolished but totally understand why they are doing it. I might take you down the amusement arcade and see if you can win me a Teddy with your grab skills 😂
Your an amazing content creator. Keep it up hun.
Thank you so much, this means a lot 😊
Great job 👏
very good video amy as always brilliant ❤️👍❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you!! 😊
Lovely to see you Amy underwood my girlfriend at work knocking down a cottage ♥♥♥♥
Good video Amy
Your little girl in behind your dads seat is exactly how learned with my uncle in the back of a cat 312b then on to js130’s
Same! Was the best way to learn 😊
@@the_digger_girl definitely was but health and safety’s pretty much put a stop to it in most cases
Dead unfortunate that yon cottage had been so totally left to rack and ruin, but yes demolishing that was the right decision after all. And yes that woodwork was completely FUBAR! Show the owners this page maybe, because most of us are saying they were right?
I've never driven an excavator (but did have some shots on a JCB 3C backhoe in school holidays, which will tell you how long ago that was from the model number) so do appreciate the skills involved in handling one like you do, particularly with the addition of the Rototilt head.
"The Digger Boy" - Now subscribed (#114)!
That’s what happens when people pass unfortunately. Ahh nice one! Thank you so much for watching 😁
And subscribing to my boy. He’ll be delighted 🤩
@@the_digger_girl Aye, that's partly why I did it. I was in the middle of watching your update though so I've not looked at his channel yet.
Hi Amy that’s going to take u n ur dad ages with the wee claw use better not getting a an attachment the the Clam shell so use can open n close and get more in side the clam wen it’s closed instead off picking one bye one bit at a time 🤔🤔 also use might damage ur roto tilt ??
Cancel last message just seen u got one as I stopped in messaged then went back to watching it and seen kelbco got grab 🫣😂😂
I understand it had to come down but it’s also such a shame. I think about all the history it holds. Probably people born there and also passed there.
Absolutely agree!
Good video ❤❤❤
It is my birthday next Sunday xx
Ayy up Amy great vlog how’s the Scania 143 coming on with Nippa
Hopefully get started very soon!🙏🏼
Masz fajną koparkę 😊❤
Is that good slates worth a bit
Perhaps the neighbours envied that cottage when it was new, but I'm sure they're relieved to see it gone now.
Amy you mist a trick you should've sold the slate as they strip the roof of all the slate and still pay you for them
They’re pretty past it. They’re getting reused on the site to 😊
Unfortunately we get a lot of rundown cottages in Scotland that you could probably fix up
If only everyone had all the money to do so!😅
Amy are you building a house for yourself on that land if so your going to end up with some stunning views
This isn’t my land unfortunately. Maybe one day?🙏🏼
Well Amy hopefully one day we could see you building your own house well the person who is going g to live there is going to have someviews
Nice this video with driver girls
Shame to see these old stone Croft buildings can’t be saved.nice tide job though.
Luckily dad managed to save his. I’ll do an update very soon on it!😊
Must be quite satisfying I recon
Nice video girl 👌😎
Fire all good 😜 as long as you don't burn the hydraulic lines. 🤨🤣
Hose protectors may or may not be a little singed 😂
If that was Ballachulish slate the owner probably lost out on enough money to pay you for most of the demo work
❤❤❤❤❤
After the bonfire you'd have about 5000 screws and nails ready to puncture every tire, always think of this when you decide where to burn the pile. Same thing if you burn in a stove when you throw out the ashes there will be nails.
Lovely video ! But I just cannot understand that in your country it is allowed to burn everything what can burn. Over here everything need to be separated in containers. If something is going up in flames, we get big fines or even go to jail
Great 😊
"The Girl With A Smile In Her Eyes" .... Wasn't that a song title?? 😄
Subscription done 👌
Thank you ☺️
Demolishing a fine house like that, its a sin
It really is. But sometimes you just have to move with times and make the best decisions financially 😊
@@the_digger_girl well that's true too. Nothing worth loosing money over.
A great driver you are , I must say
👍👍👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
£1 per slate Amy 😉 💸 💰 🤑
Make a good cheap drive way to 😂
You get a lot more for the slate if it's Ballachulish slate closer to £3 to £5 a slate, lots of builders would pay to take off that type of slate since it hasn't been mined for in over 70 years
Fireplace worth money in old house they stripped before knocking down
There was no fire place just made up stones from the river and a bit of timer 😅
Did you get a waste exemption licence from the EA to burn the wood, which is probably treated, from the demolition..... I presume there was a planning application made for the demolition ....
I saw you in Dublin
Did you! Should of came and said hello 😊
@@the_digger_girl I didn't want to
Do u get many lunch breaks
Depends what I’m doing and what hours I’m working 😊
1:50 🤐
😂😂😂
Shame the cottage had to go
what waist a good building
Got to move with times unfortunately
How much salary can an operator earn in scotland I am also an operator but in the middle east
Don't melt your seals in your roto
All good thankfully 😅
Can anyone tell me how to get a job for this job in Europe?
What did you say your son UA-cam was called so I can press subscribe for him
@the_digger_boy
Thank you 😊
