It's nice that you have video footage of your Dad Richard. And having the old Grey Fergie he bought all those years ago is just brilliant. We have a MF 135 my father bought secondhand back in the early 80s. Of great sentimental value to us. Still in use to this day too👍
When you look at the saw design, there are most safety elements built into it, beyond that you used caution and common sense. A completely practical and safe item to use .
If your wife wants to know what you will look like when your hair is white, she has only to look at these videos of your Dad! You even walk like he does and you are the spittin' image of him. What a treasure to have these videos.Hose down the hat before you put it in the washing machine!
That unforgettable sound of a Ferguson saw bench. We actually still have one in one of our sheds and a guy on the farm has a grey gold Ferguson. Great to see your Dad again. Great video looking forward to seeing more. Regards to the family
Lovely memories even so it brings a bit of a tear to your eyes, came across a picture of my dad after the first world war with a wreath to be laid at the first Cenotaph in Whitehall that was made of wood, and how young he looked and smartly turned out in a suit trilby hat with his medals on and I stared at this picture and a tear rain down my cheek and as you get older you seem to get more emotional.😢
Looking forward to see you taking part in a tractor run with the fergie. Those logs looked like they were part of the root ball. Good you have footage of the three generations. Enjoy your videos.
That video of your father on the TEF 20 was the first one that I watched. I only came across it because I was looking for videos of old Fergusons. Now I'm following you, George Saunders, Oly Blogs...and many more😉🚜
Lovely to see the grey fergie working and see how your dad used to do the logs, my late Grandfather used to chop all the logs for the house my hand, Its amazing how times have changed and the kit out there now for cutting and splitting logs. I bought a small tractor powered oxdale log spitter about 6 years ago best thing i ever did think it was about £400, definitely don’t miss using an axe and the hassle that went with it. If you do get a log splitter i guess it’s something you could put on the 265 in the winter?
Wow Richard that would bring back memories for you ........happy times everyone posting good comments. The saw bench a bit of a bad boy. Thats a show Ferguson. Crackon .........
How nice to see your father, how good he was at splitting logs, after years of experiance, youre so like him. Thankyou for all the videos, l so look forward to them, you do cheer me up, love from me, crack on. X
Great to see your Father again, fantastic archive of the farm. I used to spend winter Saturday afternoons with my Father cutting wood with a Mconnel sawbench and helping him load it onto the trailer. Dad always said you got three warms with wood, one when cutting it, then stacking it and finally burning it.
Thanks for sharing part of your family history. My father has his father's TE20 Fergie from when my grandfather was a beef cattle farmer and butcher. I bet your father was chuckling to himself or head in his hand with you splitting logs, and to be honest, I'm no better.
Another great video Richard thanks for sharing. I was good to meet you and Harry yesterday at Malvern, I won't mention the straight pipe on the 265 again lol. And if you don't mind me saying it would nice the see the grey fergie start and some point. And it was nice to see your older footage of your Dad. You got him a new log splitting axe and he used the old one he has always used.
Evening Richard your dad was a lengend .my dad has the same love to me when i was a child dad also was a dairy man on knighton farm in wimborne Dorset.so i was like hazzer i learnt the milking parlour with dad.cheers mate.❤❤❤❤👍👍👍
Nice to meet you and Harry briefly at Tractorworld yesterday. It's true what you say, it's odd meeting someone you feel you have known for a number of years but does not have a clue who you are. Great video as always, great to see your father working the Fergie as a fellow Fergie owner.
Great video, I remember using one of those saw benches as a kid, it would be good to see the grey fergie out and running even if the belt was removed, I’m sure the farm manager would suit that tractor 3rd generation driver.
Hi Richard, nice video and you are the spit of your dad . Nice to see a much smaller Jack . There’s always something nice about preparing firewood hard work but somehow enjoyable.I think you should get the old Fergie going again and maybe take it to some shows it’s a nice original example especially with the correct period Fergie sawbench.👍
I remember when the new safety laws meant you had to have roll bars (unless only the owner ever drove the Tractor) Farm I worked on had 6 or 7 of the design type your Dad had on the Grey Fergie. Whoever designed and built those troll bars must have done quite well. Different days, Happier times I think.
Unfortunately I lost my father in 2002 when I was 13 we have a few pictures but would have been amazing to have a video like that. Your father would be so happy seeing how much you do with your lads. My lad is only 3 but I know my old man is here in spirit. Crack on Richard and oh yes a hydraulic log splitter is worth their weight in gold if you have lots to split
Good to look back Richard wish I'd had videos of our farm you need to get that tractor running and use it Richard maybe get hydraulic logsplitter on back of it
Hi Richard, I have a weeping Ash outside my house it's in very poor condition and looking very dead. But I remember my father telling me it was a weeping ash about 30 years ago. I said it to friends and they laughed and said it must be weeping willow. Little do some people know. Very interesting video 😊
Blimey that saw bench looked lethal, but like you say, health and safety has improved alot, great video to have in your collection, and real family tree moments to hand down, nice 1 richard
Lovely you have video of your dad, You will treasure them. Did he have any petrol/tvo tractors before the fergi ? And when did the horses finish working on the farm? Think you have said you still have the wagon.
Nice 👍🏻 that videos would of taken a while to look through and brought back lots of memories. We have a hydraulic log splitter for the tractors which is very handy compared to the manual way 😅.. but would love a Haverston fire wood processor for the skidsteer not cheap but wow.. thanks for sharing your talent hope your 35 dream comes true. Stay safe 🏴
Love the sound of saw bench blade working. If it was me I would of parked the loader a bit closer so the logs would straight in the bucket, I really don't like to double handle anything. Great to see a T20 doing exactly what it was built to do.
Ah good ol' Fergie, proper tractor. Don't put that hat in the washing machine like that. Rince it off first and squeeze it out before putting in. Log splitting is bloody hard work, there is a knack to and sure to knacker you before too long 😂
You picked that spot to split logs because you wanted an audience (other than us now) - bet the cows were entertained for a bit 😂 Maybe Farmer P might help you out as well and split them for you? If not, surely he'd do it for Veronica!
Nice footage of your dad rich I always put the chain saw into logs that looked like that the axe always bounced of them then I built my own Hydraulic splitter
Great video Richard I restored two grey ferguson I think they are more fun to drive then these new fango tractors But I would suggest cleaning the Ferguson off and putting some sort of cover over it
There's nothing quite like the sound and smell of a vintage tractor. I personally prefer vintage than modern tractors just think they have more character to them.
If the water dont go kinda quick you might be struggling to get the cows out onto the grass and get the fertilizer out loved the vid of your dad with the grey fergy
Richard I worked in the woods for 25 years on a estate in Hampshire when splitting logs you should split your logs on a good lump of Oak 2 foot across and 3foot high and you will do a lot better
First tractor I ever drove, but it had bigger wheels, off a 165, I think, would do 30mph on the road. We used to have a two wheeled trailer, hooked on, with a 4 wheeler behind that, loaded with straw. At 15 I thought I was the DBs, didn't think for one minute how I would stop it if needed to.
Watch out for “bit rot” on hard drives that sit idle for years. Errors build up and corrupt the data over time.the video files must be written again from time to time. Depending on how new the drive is, once a decade MAY be enough, older drives need more frequent refreshes
Richard not a good idea to split wood on a cement floor. Your maul blade will be wrecked before long. You can use those pieces as Yule logs and throw the whole thing on the fire.
It’s the beauty of having these videos to look back on Richard that makes it worth while. Your father was in his element there
100%
Yr father seemed to be in good health on this video but am I right in thinking he died a year later.May he rest in peace .Amen
@@leomcnally4999 About 2 years later. Very sudden - a heart attack
you look exactly like your father, only he had better hair 😉. Beautiful memories
It's nice that you have video footage of your Dad Richard. And having the old Grey Fergie he bought all those years ago is just brilliant. We have a MF 135 my father bought secondhand back in the early 80s. Of great sentimental value to us. Still in use to this day too👍
A step back in time! Thanks for sharing this now 👍👍👍
When you look at the saw design, there are most safety elements built into it, beyond that you used caution and common sense. A completely practical and safe item to use .
THERE IS NO COMMON SENSE!!
Richard your log splitter is called a Maul, l have a monster 4 kilogram one, makes light work of splitting most wood.
Love the grey Fergie, what a classic. That was the tractor I learnt to drive on, mostly rolling grassland.
If your wife wants to know what you will look like when your hair is white, she has only to look at these videos of your Dad! You even walk like he does and you are the spittin' image of him. What a treasure to have these videos.Hose down the hat before you put it in the washing machine!

Grey Fergie resto is a "Harry" project if ever I saw one! Wash and good clean, then oil and filters/grease and she will be grand. 👍
Lovely old fergi.when i split logs it always makes me think of my dad as it was a job i always did for hime untill he past away a few years ago

Would love to see the old gray mare back up and going. Looking forward to it. I liked how your dad worked with the rings to split his logs.

This is great having a video of your dad cut on the old cord wood saw. Also the boys have grown so much. What a great blast of the past
Good to see your dad in the older videos.
Thanks for sharing part of your family history. My father has his father's TE20 Fergie from when my grandfather was a beef cattle farmer and butcher.

Christ Richard that saw bench gives me the willies, have we gone soft😱🫣
Very thoughtful to have 2 backups of your vids rich, good idea that

This is a lovely video, so great to hear the good things you say about your father, Jack was really cute back then....

Great video. Jack was just a wee tot then.
Lovely you have video of your dad, You will treasure them. Did he have any petrol/tvo tractors before the fergi ? And when did the horses finish working on the farm?
Think you have said you still have the wagon.
Morning Richard I’m new to your channel and it’s awesome reel life of the farming struggle don’t change anything

The Fergie tractor could be shown by Harry ( minus the saw )
Interesting vblog 🎉
No wonder, why you miss your dad Richard, bet he was a good man for many people around him.
Ah good ol' Fergie, proper tractor. Don't put that hat in the washing machine like that. Rince it off first and squeeze it out before putting in. Log splitting is bloody hard work, there is a knack to and sure to knacker you before too long 😂
You should get the t20 going rich be a good thing to do with Harry and I'm sure your dad would be smiling down on you watching you doing it
You picked that spot to split logs because you wanted an audience (other than us now) - bet the cows were entertained for a bit 😂 Maybe Farmer P might help you out as well and split them for you? If not, surely he'd do it for Veronica!

What a lovely video. Omg your dad looked so like King Charles to me !
We have a sow bench like that and still yous it ver handy for cutting up the sticks
There's nothing quite like the sound and smell of a vintage tractor. I personally prefer vintage than modern tractors just think they have more character to them.
That blade scares the hell out of me, every time your Dads head or hands went near it my stomach ended up in my mouth.
Proper tractor
Crack on Richard and wash that hat 😂🤠
If the water dont go kinda quick you might be struggling to get the cows out onto the grass and get the fertilizer out
loved the vid of your dad with the grey fergy

Great video to have
somebody buy this bloke some wooly hats
It starts of the gear stick to be correct still use my sawbech all the time in winter on my tea 20 petrol Ferguson tractor .
Have you bought yourself a truck Richard see one in back ground

Chainsaw Richard that's what I do axes are a thing of the past
Axes are still usefull for splitting logs.
Should never leave a rake in that position
Axe needs a good sharpening Richard
Give the hat a good hosing before the washing machine
Your log splitter is called a log maul 👍
👍👍
is there a reason why you're choosing that over an axe? Feel like an axe would've been easier with those awkward ones anyway 😂
One piece of wood would work you 3 time . Cutting lugging and burning 👍👍👍👍👍👍
If your not using the old massey why not sell it to fund a tractor mounted splitter
Just want to say your excellent viewing!!!!!! I’m not from a farming background it’s just great watching you and your funny as 😂😂🪓🪓🪓
thanks
their all out of the roots of trees you need an hydrology splitter for them son . Well don to try
Curly grain ... difficult to split!
In Ireland we call that a maul
To near the to call logs
To near the root
Richard not a good idea to split wood on a cement floor. Your maul blade will be wrecked before long. You can use those pieces as Yule logs and throw the whole thing on the fire.
Lovly stone wall in the shead that un uasal 2 see
Should have got the fergie out to cut those logs😂
Wow you definitely have your dads face
I didn't know the grey Fergie came with a diesel engine
Yes it’s called a tef grey fergie👍
If I remember right from my childhood it was theTE20D.
Maybe I’m wrong but as far as I’m concerned they were called a tef.
its called a maul.
Talk about Chip off the old block Richard.
Jaes ur the image of the old man them saws wer stil beter than a chain saw
I think if u tuck ur jacket of u might look the part I think it’s how not to wood split
Be nice to convert the grey fergie to log splitter
Maybe hazza will do the same when he's older
you have to plant them before you split them.
👍🇮🇪🇮🇪🙏🙏
😃😄😁😆😅🤣😂🙂
you should be ashamed leaving the Ferguson in that state it need's to be used with the bench saw
