When I was in DHS from 88-91 we marched 100+ just in the brass section... This is dissapointing, but you guys have a nice sound as a a unit. Keep your head's up!
i swear im glad to be finally graduating from this school. the band sux from what i see as of now, but i hear back then like years ago they use to be good. but now i'm hearing that next year they are cutting the music program all together which really sucks. CLASS OF '08!!!
Lol I go to Denbigh High School in North Wales UK and I thought WTF we havent got a band....clicked on it and realised :] haha Really nice that you have a band...we dont lol!
Is this Thomas??? Schooling these young kids about the good ol' days of the DHS Marching band? Weren't we like 300 deep? Under Webb and then Hargis.... OH!! And Mr. Curtis with percussion??? Percussion rocked day & night! DAYUM! Indian River? Those were the good ol' days for real. Oh well.... you had to be there to see it! QUADS BABY!!! QUADS!!!
We were not 300 deep in the Webb era (I was drum major in '83 and '84). We were 120 total. Had a larger color guard and larger band than this though. 3 color guard? We had about 20. We won awards for drum line (had Conolly running it, a former rock musician). And won awards for majorette squad (had 3 majorettes). But never for the band (we could out play anyone and had great musicians, but never could march worth a damn). Back in the '80s, Denbigh known as a great festival sit down band because that is what the late great Edgar Webb emphasized. Knew of Hargis from Virginia Tech, so sounds like he put more emphasis on the marching unit which is good. We were still wearing uniforms from the 1960's when I was there from 81-84 (only 3 year HS back then). We were called the Patriots but looked like british redcoats (uniforms looked like we were guarding buckingham palace).
Is this Thomas??? LOL - schooling these youngin's about the good ol' days of DHS Marching band? Under Webd and then Hargis? Oh! Please don't forget Mr. Curtis with Percussion!! We were the bomb back in '88-'91!! First place left & right and we had like what... 200 members????
