Hi! I have the same car like you . When you cut off the catalysators what you mounted in their place? Just straight pipe or another muffler or something? :)
I don't think it does gain anything. I haven't looked all that much into it. But cats are worth a lot, and all they're going to do if left on the car is burn up after a lot of miles of hard driving. They're better off than on. You don't want loose too much back pressure though, because then you'll loose a noticeable amount of torque.
@@bavarianbaron yeah you definitely lose torque with deleted cats and deleted muffler. I can tell clearly when I put my decat on. With stock muffler and no cat you gain more than no muffler and cats
Well this one doesn't do it a bunch. If it does its very subtle. My straight piped E34 540i does it more, but i think that's because it's a manual and when I downshift I'm adding fuel to the system.
@@bavarianbaron I have a 2001 and 98 6speed manual I honestly thought this one was manual as I saw at the end your engine go quiet thought u had put it into N. But yea they pop like crazy and grown when you downshift I just have the muffler deleted.

The light will come on if the cats are removed, but it doesn't bother me

@@bavarianbaron you do gain hp because the cat is the most restrictive part of the exhaust. I’ve seen videos of people getting like 10 hp from a decat

Do you still have the factory resonator?
Yes I do. I'm planning on replacing that with a Vibrant 3" resonator though.
Hey I’m kinda confused because when I bought my 540 it only had 2 cats a resonator and the scuba tanks what do u mean by the secondary cats?
What year is yours?
Mine is a 2001. Primary cats are part of the manifolds. Those cannot be cut out.

Yeah quite a bit. I added a muffler eventually and it really quieted it down inside.

Yeap. Muffler Delete was just a cut off muffler, before the other work was done.
