Pre Calving Cow Preparations | Hedge Cutting DISASTER! | Baldys Farm Merchandise

In this one we give the girls a pre calving spa day. They get rain through the cattle crush to get their tails trimmed, ears clipped and mineral boluses. I also head off hedge cutting which ends in a complete disaster!

Hi James, tie the end of the chain link wire to a barn pillar, then reverse the tractor slowly & it should unwind off the header.

It is but we do use it to do both feeding and bedding. If the sheds where designed a little differently though, we could get away with not using it.

I'd buy a decent T shirt James maybe similar to Tom Pemberton with outline of a cow. Obviously a Stabiliser cow lol
BTW there is no cut off this year it was an EU rule that now doesn't apply. SFI will probably introduce new rules soon?

Didn’t realise there was t a window this year. Still got a few to do but managed to smash the window on the tractor the next day 🤦🏼‍♂️ really not my week.
SFI will probably introduce something. But it might be only if you select payments for hedgerow options 🤷‍♂️ I guess we just wait and see.

Hey, we do it just to make the war tags easier to read when calving. It make record keeping and registering calves faster and easier. 👍

Why have hedges when you have a fence?

Hedges provide an extra barrier between fields. They all have ditches along them too and they provide vital habitat for wildlife on farm. Traditionally hedges where put in place to decipher between different soil types.
