When you think about it. Combining the storm and blue spirit episodes into one is a brilliant idea. The former is telling us Zuko and Aang's stories simultaneously while the latter shows them working together foreshadowing their eventual friendship. And while I don't always like how the show runners combined different episodes into one on this adaptation, this was brilliantly executed. A breath of fresh air after a monstrosity that was "Spirited Away"
Ugh, I hate mush ups (it's way worse there merely call it a mash up or mix up,def not a mess up, moss up is the right word.... mush sounds right.) I hope they do this with Tai Lee, she also had the word play about describing clouds, "poofy" in book 3 ember island, i think. but anyways, the plots tend to get disrespected when the mix up too many plots. but I truly hope the directors keep doing the right "mix up" rather than a mush up, or even worse, a "mess up" it honors the correct plots even if the way they do the story arcs are mixed up. but budget and green lit air time is a key factor for Live Action. so they have only so much time and only so much money to tell a story.
Damn bro you cut out reaction to the shot for shot escape? I lost my mind when they did the ladder-stilt walk. I was positive they wouldnt do that and THEY DID IT! 😂
The creators of the show worked on episode 1 and 6 before they left because of creative difference which would explain why people liked these two episodes the best, it definitely says a lot.
episode 1 was a hard BUY i truly hope Nextflix funds the directors for a full 3 book arc. unlike GOT live action, Airbender has source material to make a storyline from. Dan and Dave had to use creative liberties to bring the story to an end after 8 long seasons.

Don't worry. I bet we'll see more of Roku's serious side in the second season. I think Albert Kim mentioned how they want to show more of Roku and Gyatso's relationship.
People want to quickly judge a season 1 character to a complete season 3 version and you cant do that. We need to see how the show progresses and ends to really see how these characters are overall. Season 1 is only part of a character.
Omg i do want the yuyan archers to be women cuz "yuyan" is the name of the girl who wants to participate in war but declined so she perfected her archery as deadly weapon. I wanted to see azula's crew named rough rhinos with mai, ty lee, azula, a yuyan archer and possibly a blade master which are all girls.

I like the change with the 41st division, but I didn't appreciate Iroh's condescending attitude toward the crew. In the animated series, he is empathetic toward the crew and reprimands Zuko's outbursts, but here it comes off as if they're just supposed to accept Zuko's abuse because he saved their lives. The core issue wasn't dealt with, unlike in the animated series where Zuko proved he cared about them by getting out of the storm. Also, for the more "mature" version of the story, why do we have Iroh spelling out the thesis of the episode like we're toddlers? When the literal cartoon for children never did that?
The best episode of the series in my opinion. Following the episode I absolutely HATED the most might have made me appreciate this episode even more though.
I absolutely love this ep, the only issue I have is the Blue Spirit moment where aang and Zuko talk. In the show they didn't have that, because zuko wasn't ready to bond, only hyper focusing on his quest. That brush stuff, was just...not for me But that's the only thing. That ending, the reveal, that's so clever and good. Legit caught me off guard, saving the 'dead meat' division and have them be his crew. Seeing Lieutenant go from "he's a prince but not our prince" to "Our prince has returned" and bow in respect... Beautiful!
personally, my expectations were set so low from the last live action remake. im glad this time they TRY. the good they did do 1) try to stay true to source material 2) use original sound tracks 3) personality traits are.... similar (not copies which I hope this frees them to make a unique story arcs) thing is, when it changes mediums, you lose certain abilities but gain others. CGI allows most animation aspects to get carried over, but certain facial expressions are literally non human. (anime nose bleed when aroused, ackward sweating around a cringe/ackward moment 😅, ) but live action does allow certain things to happen. not many come to mind right now except for a better FEEL since suspended disbelief is easier when its real humans, and i guess live action attacts a bigger audience since some folks think animation automatically means for kids, (few exceptions is the cursing cartoons like Simpsons and Family Guy) but yeah, I wanted live action avatar since the blue people, I felt so lied to going to see "Avatar" just to see its blue folks that didn't bend the elements.
I don’t like that they changed where Joao kept Aang to a just a fort and not a city, but it makes sense since he’s alone. But also we won’t get frogs to save Sokka and Katara from an illness, no scenes of those too seeing illusions.

This was my favourite episode of the series, minus Roku. They did Roku dirty and I’m still mad about it
