  • One of the cool features in the IC-7300 is the SWR graph, so you can visually see how your antenna is tuned across a portion or across the entire band you are operating on. No need for an analyzer to find out where your antenna is tuned.

Just got my 7300 and am setting it up. Saving several of your videos to refer back to when I am in front of the radio. Thanks for all the hard work!

    Nice video, Eric!
I love the swr function on all my Icom Trx. I use it, since I bought my IC-703 couple years ago.
It's wonderful especially while SOTA and backpack tours, when you are trying to Limit your weight on equipment.
I have the IC-7300 also and I'm fully satisfied with it.

Thanks for the video. Now this makes sense how to use it with my 7300. I also have a Icom 7100 with this feature as well, which will be perfect since I just put it in my car to run mobile this week. Now I can easily check the SWR of the very old hamstick antennas my Dad (SK) gave me many years ago. 73 de KN3A

Great video, Eric. I am taking my Exam for my Tech ticket May 5 (earliest test date in my area). Been taking practice exams for a few months now, past 2 weeks I have been scoring anywhere from 75%-80%. Talked to a buddy, who is a ham radio operator, he said now that I scored 80% I should be taking 3 tests a day until I reach 90%, once I reach 90% you should be all set to take the exam. So any other advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks. Have a Great Night. 73s

For some reason my IC-7300 lost the SWR config while playing with the SWR graphic and runing out of the frecuency as shown in the video, any idea how to set it back to normal ?

so on the band where your SWR was through the roof, Could the ICOM 7300 Tuner get it below a decent range?

Hey Eric.... great vid. I've actually used that feature on my 7300.
Question! I read that when using the swr feature. The power setting should be set to only a couple of watts???
    Please chime in.

I never changed my power, and I have accurate readings. I think the SWR graph function will limit the power output I would think.. I havent looked at the power meter when I did the test.

Quick Question, I have the IC-7300 and on the display right below band display I keep getting a flashing "OVF". Sometimes it is solid and a lot of times it flashes on and off. I tried tuning the frequency which the frequency did get tuned but I still get the flashing "OVF". What is wrong and how to I fix this? Have you ever experienced that on your IC-7300?

I wonder if an UNUN would give a 1:1 SWR with 1000 feet of antenna wire.

Could be your swr is totally flat, that's why you would see no bars...

Ahh the baby Icom. Yes, it is saying the rubbish in-built antenna tuner is setup for the bandyou were talking on and not higher up. Seriously my 7300 is back in the box months ago. These 7300's are popular with the pirates who are too stupid to get a license, they buy them second hand and sit on CB channels, 27.385 LSB and 27.555 USB and normal CB. I've even heard many calling on the HAM bands using other peoples call-signs. How sad is that they are so stupid they can't pass a simple test. Ofcom in the UK won't go out and shut them down anymore. The Icom 7610 is far superior and more sensitive. Antenna tuner is still a bit rubbish but I found if you switch both these radios to emergency mode where the output is halved to 50W that you get a really good SWR all over the bands with the in in-built tuner. Try that if you haven't already. Good video demo for those that find the very easy to use 7300 hard. God help them if they tried the 7610. I keep all my radios I don't sell them. That 817ND you sold, should have kept that! It's a fantastic wee radio. The 818ND is not much different. I'm not really into VHF/UHF unless mobile to use the repeaters. I love HF.

Those bloody pesky cb,ers with there ruddy hf sets, i had to put work in to get my licence , they shouldnt be using those on cb , it amazes me how so many ham licence holders get upset about cb radio users who buy a hf radio, like it really affects there life so bad, get real pal if thats all you have to moan about then you must be a very sad little lonely man indeed . Just be glad that people are still using radio in any shape or form as this is a hobby thats needs as many as we can get. People like you are the reason that ham radio is on its knees today !
