I own Ranger Raptor here in Australia and the build quality is excellent, i think its a US build quality thing. And you miss out on a lot of extra things we get in ours.
@siebitup there's a few more things we get that you don't. Grab handles to get in on all 4 doors, cup holders under the front vents that come out of the dash, USB behind the rear vision mirror for dash cams etc...
Yeah, I got my Ranger Raptor in July, I had a Tacoma and was going to just get another one. But after researching how Tacoma quality has gone down and Ranger's quality has gone up, to include most reliable truck last year, I went with the Ranger Rapter. I already put 10K miles on it, so I guess I like it.
Non-ventilated seats. Or even just perforated. Something you learn very quickly is a must if you run a little bit on the warm side. Lol I could understand if it was an open top vehicle, like the bronco or a wrangler, but in closed cabin vehicle it is excusable in this day and age. Honestly, that’s probably the only dealbreaker for me because size wise, and everything else is perfect.
That's ridiculous. Wear a shorter skirt bro. That will keep you cool. I live in SW Florida. I have ventilated seats in my 2024 Grand Cherokee Summit and rarely, if ever, use them. Its definitely not a 'must have' imo. Its a 'nice to have' feature. Must have is all the other features of the Ranger Raptor.
I'm buying this exact model. Same exterior color - Azure Gray (which I really like on the Bronco). Hopefully it looks just as good on the Raptor as it does on the Bronco. Its on order and I should have it in about a month. Trading in my 2021 Gladiator Mojave. Its a bitter sweet trade. I love the Gladiator's rugged look and living in SW Florida, its a great convertible. However I found its a pain in the ass storing the doors and top. Especially the rear top. Its big and requires 2 people to remove it. In addition it rains a lot down here. Not for long periods of time but rather short violent bursts of 30 to 40 minutes that can come out of nowhere. The one thing I think I will miss is the back seat roominess in the Gladiator. The back seats in Ranger Raptor don't seem very spacious - not terrible for short jaunts but also not super comfortable for those 6' and taller. Also the Gladiator just doesn't ride great on the highway as it meanders and the steering is very light and the road noise is LOUD. Its also very much underpowered. So I'm looking forward to the comfort and power of the Raptor. I also like that I can fit a 4'x8' sheet of plywood flat on the bed. Highway 'driver assist' with the lane keeper feature is an important feature for me as I do a lot of highway driving.
Can anyone tell me about the current RR's transmission, 10R60? I am highly considering buying one next year, but I had some concearns about the transmission from the previous model. Have the issues been rectified with the new 10R60 transmission?
I still don't get all the criticism over the shifter. I've never missed reverse, I don't have a problem with it. I think it's just not a normal shifter so people are WAY over critical of it. If it were a normal in the way shifter, I don't think anyone would have said anything. I like that it's low, it's out of the way, it's easy to grab and use, and it's easy for me to find the gears. And I don't think they even realized what the M was for.
Get the Raptor. Order it from Ford directly and you can get it for the price I did of $57,935 with the options of spray-in bed linger, mud flaps, and locking wheel nuts. Ignore the dealer markups. You can't get a Toyota with all the features the Raptors has for anywhere close to that. Plus the Raptor has a way more powerful engine and a front locker which is unavailable on the Toyota. I am not against Toyotas. I own a Lexus GX 460 (which is a Land Cruiser Prado in a lot of the world) but the Raptor has the Tacoma beat hands down.
I love the Ranger Raptor but I’m currently driving a Raptor 37 PP and it’s so spacious, I can’t imagine driving anything smaller than that lol. Yeah, getting to tight trails is always a problem but that’s what the truck is for. Who gives a sht about some scratches. Also, I’m genuinely curious: why does 0-60 time matter so much to car reviewers? This is an off-road performance truck. I can careless about on road 0-60 time. All the engineering only shines when you drive this thing 70 mph in backcountry/desert roads.
Our forefathers settled the desert West without ventilated seats. They were men and would just turn the air conditioner up if they got too warm. Learn from our forefathers!
We’re not entirely sure as we rely on whatever the previous car journalist put into the vehicle. Would make sense that it wasn’t as some people get in the low 5 second range. We put premium in it when we gave it back.
@@ACCELER8TV I figured it was a journalist car, which could be why there is a gap in the hood vent. The truck could have been jumped and rattled pretty crazy and that just has to be put back in place. What an amazing truck
Interesting car. From what I've seen, I love the damned thing EXCEPT- a) I'd love to see a manual option for those of us still around who might enjoy that, and b) Twin Turbo or Naturally Aspirated? Where I seem to be going back and forth is that I'm not into turbos and superchargers. Instead I love a NA V8. So there's my question- a smaller V6 TT of a V8 NA, which will make me decide whether it's the Ranger Raptor or the F-150 Raptor. 1st world problems, I tell ya.
Well, since it's a raptor. The truck should have amber marker lights in the front grill!!! And the led light stripes on the headlights should be amber as well !!!
The electronic steering is the problem, i think the trucks are supposed to wade water, but the steering rack will need replacement after water crossing, which is not a simple nor cheap replacement though
I ask because I ordered an RHO for 10,000 under MSRP. With all my options, I’m at $65,000 for the Ram. With the wheels and stickers on the Ranger I was at 60,000. I have had every gen F150 Raptor, and currently have a F-150 Raptor. I was looking at these Raptors but it feels so tight inside. And for 5000 more dollars I could have 150 more horsepower and a full-size truck. Still love these Rangers tho
Only reason you buy a Ranger Raptor is because you can’t afford an F150 Raptor. I would never give up my F150 Raptor for that little thing. Plus there’s no room in the back seat.
I feel the ZR2 is a better truck for the money. The raptor has more power but it also weights a lot more than the ZR2. The ZR2 also has AC seats as well as a lot of other little things that the ranger does not. and to top it al off the ZR2 can be found at msrp unlike the Raptor. (raptor should have a better resale later down the road I feel) both good trucks
Just depends what you're looking for. GM packs tons of features into their vehicles to distract you from that fact that their engine and drivetrain aren't as good as the competition. I drove the ZR2 and it was a dog compared to the RR I recently bought at msrp. I guess i just prefer a v6 over some air vents but we all prioritize different things. The ZR2 would make a great overland rig, but you won't find a soul out there that prefers it over the RR for baja stuff. The fact that the ZR2 can be had below msrp while the RR are flying off lots with 5-10k markup is telling in itself.
BYD Shark has more power and torque, instantaneous torque and power from two electric motors, 0-60 in about 5 seconds. It costs considerable less than the Ranger Raptor in Mexico. It has very good interior and suspension, can haul considerable more than the Ranger Raptor.
Just went to look at one tonight. Sticker price 58,000. Out the door number 78,000 wtf. A 12,000 dollar mark up for popularity, tint and bed lining and sales tax is the rest crazy. Nice trick though
If the Ranger Raptor had cooled seats, vents in the back, I would buy one tomorrow. No vents or USB in the back is kind of a deal breaker. Live at the NC beach. Really nice to have. For 75k, I would rather just get a F150 Raptor.
$75K? I bought mine for $57,935 with a spray-in bed liner and a couple of other options. turn up your air conditioner if your butt gets hot. Or for the difference in price you think you have to pay you can probably get someone to install a cooler for your sweaty butt.
I own Ranger Raptor here in Australia and the build quality is excellent, i think its a US build quality thing. And you miss out on a lot of extra things we get in ours.
It's a damn travesty we don't get the higher rear climate vents like y'all do. It's a dealbreaker for me with little kids.
@siebitup there's a few more things we get that you don't. Grab handles to get in on all 4 doors, cup holders under the front vents that come out of the dash, USB behind the rear vision mirror for dash cams etc...
