Since it has USB4 ports, you should make a thunderbolt eGPU enclosure with a water cooled GPU in it that supplements this mini pc. Just throwing a cool idea out there.
Already ordered the parts for it! Stay tuned 😉
Nice
@@ZacBuilds Is there a video on it yet?
I'm predicting CPU bottlenecks
@@ZacBuilds When will the eGPU enclosure video be out?
There's also acrylic specific glue that's just an acrylic solvent so it melts the acrylic slightly on both sides and forms a chemical bond. Super strong and transparent
Ya that's the weldon6 stuff I got for my next build! Really excited to try it out
I'm genuinely blown away by how much expertise you have in so many fields. I'm no gamer by any stretch, but this was a blast to watch! awesome video!
Thanks Alex! I'm a tinkerer at heart, so i think all my skills are just a collection of things I've picked up to take things apart and play with them haha. Thanks for watching!
@@ZacBuilds it shows! I can't wait to see what you build next!
@@ZacBuildsHi! Sorry this reply is 9 months late, I also enjoy tinkering with stuff sometimes, and im interested in building a PC into a Wii U to run Gamecube, Wii, Wii U games, and more (through legal dumping), any suggestions on what to use, info for me to know, what preparations to have, etc? The reason I want to do this is to do something unique, and I thought I would ask you with all the stuff I have seen on the channel
Hey! I would suggest you to take a picture of the IO and import it to fusion and you can take mesument there witch is more effecent and gives you a better view of what you doing :)
You best me to it! Great idea. Another impressive build Zac!
which is the witch which out-witches which witch's sandwich?!
You can also use a tool that has a profile for your camera or phone to mitigate lens distortion.
Dude that's awesome you should make these cases to buy but ship them unassembled(diy case) to save on production costs..👍
I support this idea, Would definitely help me with making it.
Big box version for launch box is highly recommended. It works great for when you plug it into a tv. All you have to do is open it with a keyboard and mouse first and then the rest is handled by a controller.
It's crazy to see someone local pulling this stuff off! I'm so amazed. You earned a sub!
Normally I don't like Noctua fans color scheme that much, but they're perfect in this build, love this!!
A measuring tip: get a printer scanner, lay the board horizontal (can't let it be sideways with components) and use the image as a backdrop of the design software. You can then take some reference measurements to scale the image properly and more easily sketch around stuff, measuring as you go to make sure things match. Taking a picture with a coin works well for more complicated stuff, but it's more prone to error due to angles and field of view.
Love the video, my only complaint is that the minisforum um690 is almost $715 USD. At that price point, you can probably build an itx pc and go from there. Sure, this already has the “parts” put together, but it’s just a lot for a “DIY” build. Love the wood working elements. Might try that part on an itx board and an off the shelf agpu
Trust me I tried costing this out as an ITX build and by the time you get everything you need you end up being just as expensive and your foot print is significantly larger.
pssssst. pro tip for marking stuff where to drill for u :) instead of hammering it in and potentially breaking things like the pcb .... paint the tips of the stands with a sharpie and put it where you want it. the paint wont be dry and you will have some decent markings there to work with ;) this works in all kind of situations ;)
I'd really recommend an emulation focused linux distro as there are a few out there that offer a launchbox like Ui except that they're completely navigatable with a controller and would give a much more Console-Like experience especially for couch gaming.
Why didn't you just drill holes in the side tab of the fan which would have allowed the fan to slide over the standoff pins instead of cutting
For the usb cables, you should of use brought some USB connectors and soldered the fan wires directly to the connector, would of looked factory and very low profile
Cool build, Zac!
I love this everything console series. I think the integration of walnut adds a lot of aesthetic to the computer.
Just a small gripe I had is that Moore's Law is actually dead. We can no longer double the number of transistors on a chip every two years due to physical limitations. The transistors are giving more issues than solutions when you shrink them down past a certain size. The technology is there to make them smaller, but due to a little thing called Quantum Physics you can't get a good transistor. Fortunately, people are researching ways of overcoming physics with molecular electronics (one example) being proposed as an alternative. Essentially, molecules (much much smaller than the smallest transistor currently) can be used as transistors. Currently, there is no real success in this venture apart from a select few molecules.
I apologise for this little rant. I did my PhD in nanochemistry and know several researchers doing molecular electronic research. So, everytime I hear about Moore's Law I pay closer attention. (I know this is a me problem)
I know this was also at the very beginning of the video and I know you jokingly said it too. I did watch through to the end and very much enjoyed the build and your design process.
Oh don't worry, I 100% agree with you. Moores law is dead and I say it to people all the time. The exponential growth of technology through the 80s 90s and early 2000s is a thing of the past and I'm sad to see it go. I remember being a kid and having a computer that was 2 years old was basically a relic. These days a 5 year old computer is still serviceable. As you said were running up against the limits of physics. I was just being silly and joking around in the intro
@@ZacBuilds exactly! Funny thing also is that one of the big things Moore regretted the most was people using his hypothesis/quote and naming it after him.
I also just want to be clear, I'm was also not trying to have a go at you. I simply have mild compulsive corrective issues at times haha.
I really like the content you make too and appreciate the less click-batey titles when compared to Eric's recent trend. (I know UA-cam and the algorithm rewards click-bate)
Just make the case an extra inch larger. You're not trying to save pennies for mass manufacturing costs and you'll save a lot of time and effort from less worrying and measuring.
Is there a link to where to purchase the same mini PC used in this custom build?
I would love to get my hands a 3d printable version of this case. This whole thing is what I've been looking for in an emulation box.
Zac you dont know how much pumped I am, even before actually watching it, because i know youll always blow me away
Hell ya, if you're pumped to watch the videos, I'll keep being pumped to make them!
Couldn't help noticing your CB500X! We have the same bike! Anyway, Love the videos!
Love to see what you could do with a minisforum AtoMan x7 Ti. with that 4 inch screen surrounded in wallnut it would look sick
I wish you sold these dope work homie
First video I watched of yours and Wow, what am amazing build! I also try to tinker with custom builds, but your talent and execution are truly amazing. Loved watching this and I look forward to watching more! Subscribed!
Protip: anything that's flat you can drop in a flatbed scanner to use as a reference to place holes very accurately.
Could have made more form-fitting port holes if you can keep the board propped up on a scanner long enough
Works well with 3D printed parts but probably better not to cut the wood down super thin to get proper clearance on the plugs, and definitely better not to countersink acrylic that thin.
Awesome job, gangsta as Hell. Why don't you try a wedge shaped design case for your next build in honor of retro pc's?
i would totally buy something like that
I got a ad for a CNC machine while watching this
That is just…out of this world….😮
Why did you use a USB y splitter instead of connecting both fans parallel to one usb cable, without the plugging of usb cables inside the case.
Amazing! This video got me so excited about retro gaming - I spent all night consolidating all my emulators into LaunchBox which you can boot into a BigBox shell (don't even need to see windows). A great setup if you have a dedicated emulator PC. Thanks for the vid man!
Thanks for watching! Isn't it so satisfying to get the whole collection organized and looking good? I'm really happy I found Launch box
@@ZacBuilds It´s so satisfying to see the video, thanks btw :)
@@ZacBuilds How does this compare to Batocera?
It’s an ice cream sandwich.
You deserve millions of more subs and views dude! Amazing work!
This is true, couldn't agree more!
Dude thank yoh so much. When I first started youtube a couple of years ago I didn't think I'd ever hit 100k, so honestly already feels like I've exceeded my own expectations by a large margin haha
Uv resin would be great stays pliable till UV light is added and sets clear unless you want color
I have no idea what you’re saying in 99.9% of this video but I still found it so entertaining!
Haha thanks Soph, I'll include a glossary next time 😂
Might I suggest if you like launch box, you should consider upgrading to big box.
Wow that's way too much tech. But very amazingly to see someone do this. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep Making. God Bless.
Haha sorry if it was a bit of a tech overload, but as always these videos are an exploration of my passions haha so they can get kind of techy. Thank you for watching and the support as always!
@@ZacBuilds it ok. Your very welcome. Can't wait to see more videos soon. God bless.
I think this is now a goal of mine (buying a mini-PC for emulation, minus DS/3DS, Wii U, and Switch games), freeing up my main PC for daily tasks and, well, PC games. Does adding the two fans and paste drastically increase cooling, or would I be fine without those? That said, I most likely wouldn't overclock said mini-PC.
That is really impressive, thank you for sharing!
Hey Zac will you ever sell or maufacture more of these emulators? In my country it is hard to find the right parts and doing it my self and your's look so beautiful for my living room
The amount of knowledge is mind blowing. Amazing video
Really awesome job, IMHO maybe for aesthetics I would have go for slim 120 15mm fans, they are pretty good from noctua, so you can reduce 10mm on each wood panel.
I'd take a second look at the fan situation here. I'm very confident that you could plug a lownl noise adaptor into the board, followed by a three way splitter.
Looks great. Even more 'tie-fightery' if bevel was on both sides of the walnut.
Not a criticism! looks stunning as it is.
Next time!
Fusion of skilled carpentry and computer programming. Who'd a thunk it possible
nice little elegant pc. i wouldnt mind having one of those bad boys.
i thought you were going to jam the internal electronics of all those consoles into one box but this still very cool
"No shame in starting with something simpler."
Me just trying to get the roms working with my anbernic 😂
that maximum carnage was easily one of the hardest games ever played
Launchbox is frontend. I like it. Use it myself.
@5:56 saying mm accurate yet he takes mesurment in inch xD 🤔🤔🤔 , nice video by the way :p
Awesome. Stinks with the USB cable, though, sticking out. Maybe a right angle adapter would allow you to loop it underneath the console, and it would be a little more streamlined?
I can't wait to play some emulations on my phone with Dolphin Emulator today on my flight! Good stuff.
did the little computer have a built-in CPU fan? might want to make sure you are not getting overspin, it can cause the fan to start generating power instead of using it, causing power to backfeed into the system, causing damage.
Question, do the games come with audio files too? For example Tony Hawk's pro skater has music from established bands.
Thermal head room won't do much when the performance is already limited by the wattage of the external power supply.
What the heck mate! How's all the fast computer stuff inside that little box mate! My pc's like a deep sea container that stand's like a brick under mu desk and has 1 blue ligjt so I know "it's alive"
Why did you cut ventilation holes in the acrylic if you had a push-pull fan system?
It's not push pull, it's push push, and side exhaust.
you should definitely try batocera
Love it but that blue light sorta killing the vibe!
This is very interesting BUT I was expecting actual game consoles, not emulation.
Still, would something like that be possible? Like taking apart a PS5, XBox and Switch and cramming all of the components into a one-in-all homemade console.
14:27 AAAAAHHHHHHHG!!! 😱
When Oiling The Wood Stuff, Can you not just like Dip it? Like In a Big Enough Container W/Lid.
oh thank god xD i was slightly upset when you pulled out a mini pc. but then you said lets upgrade somethings and make a case! LETS GOOO!!! that's what im talking about
since it has liquid metal instead of thermal paste, having it on its side like that is very bad for the cpu. the liquid metal pools at the bottom of the cpu, and the top part ends up burnt out and over heated
Amazing build!! I would suggest you check out Batocera for emulation its like an OS itself with almost all emulators.
I'll look into that! Thanks for the info
That's a emulator beast to run PS3 Xbox360 games it's really powerful for a tiny PC and the case build is pretty neat asome work 👍
If Launch box ever gives you problems or you want to make it more of a console experience theirs a program called steam ROM manager you can set it up to add all your roms emulators and all that to your steam library and the you can use steam big picture mode and you can also set steam big picture mode to launch on startup its a bit more complicated to setup but was well worth it for me
Where did you get that hat your wearing zac???? Love the look!
I got it from my buddy @remarkablewoodworks it's his logo, he'll be on my podcast @offthecutpodcast later tonight too
Amazing work!
This is soo cool but inexcusable to most people as most don't have all these tools you do lol ... but on the other hand limitations may open inspiration...
I really love this project! You did an amazing job🎉🎉🎉
I’ve been kinda trying to reverse engineer something like this myself (for more than just games; movies, music, comics, a true All-in-One machine) so this really inspires a lot of my ideas and where to set the scope.
That said, I also feel like ‘Everything Console’ is a bit too obvious of a name.
If this were my project, I’d try to go with something that would still emphasize the nearly infinite nature of the product: Juggernaut, Magnificence, Menagerie, Zenith, Paragon-I feel like I’m overshooting it, but something along those lines to give it a real punch that makes it seem like the best there is.
Beautiful 🤩🤩🤩
Great carpenter skill, but this just mini pc + 2 fan + some emulator that maybe not even work flawless, i expect something more advance to upgrade the mini pc output power.
This is dope bro & bring a shop owner with over a dozen 3D printers a CR10 is what you’re missing! 🔥🔥
I like how Linus' joke of calling MHz "mega transfers" seems to be seeping its way into the community as an actual way to pronounce "megahertz." Like how if you hear something enough times you will eventually say it, even if it's by mistake.
Edit: Linus from Linus Tech Tips
I liked the video as soon as you cracked a beer lmaoo
Can we just add the fact that for this setup, one would need to purchase another copy of windows, adding about $200 to the cost. The advantage to other emulator projects is they use free, community based, open source OS and software such as Linux.
No shame, but thought I'd give it a shot. Any chance to buy the everything console mark2?
Question: would it be possible to take the internal components out of a PS5 and an Xbox series X, combine them in 1 chassis with great cooling and an HDMI splitter to create a console where you can seamlessly switch between the 2 depending on what game you want to play?
Haven’t seen it done yet but I’m sure there’s a very complicated way that someone with more money and time than me could achieve
impressive build, well done! how do you like the 8bit pro2 controllers? I have their supernintendo style controllers for my arcade, they are well made!
YOU, my friend have a new subscriber! Hella awesome content. Where could I get one of these?
My Man!!!! Thank you so much for sharing all of this Zac!
Thanks for watching!
Cowbell Brewery ❤
How much for one of these?? Live in Brazil, no access
wondering if you could GPU accelerate this, since it has thunderbolt ports
Amazing!!
It's Amazing! I have one question, Is the everything console MK3 is more powerful than a steam deck?
I ment powerful pc handheld where it can run switch games.
Like the Ayaneo.
or the steam deck.
Yes it is, by a good margin. It's got more than twice the power budget, and the CPU cores are from the next generation. That being said the iGPU is similar, though clocked faster in the EC MK3. It's similar in power to the latest Ayeneo system. However it's got more cooling and power to play with. And the CPU is clocked slightly faster.
So cool!!!!!! What was the mini computer you used for this?
Man this is awesome. Wish I could experience this custom phenomenal upgrade.
I love how the noctua fans compliment the color of the walnut !! great work dude !!
Will this system still support multi-player bluetooth controllers?
Wouldn't a killswitch been better instead of that fan wire
Love these videos. How does multiplayer work on this? Or is it just relegated to a single person experience?
Multi-player works great, I've had some great mario kart sessions with friends haha. You just connect 4 controllers via Bluetooth or USB and the emulators usually pick them up right away and it's good to go
@@ZacBuilds I was hoping that would be the case. What kind of controllers are you using with it?
What was the app that you were using when taking the measurements of the motherboard? Also, what CNC machine do you have?
What is the software you used to create this.
Dang so cool!
Thank you!
Man you need to practice using a drill, those legs are wonky af. Rest of the build looks good though, that usb cable sticking out could surely have used a 90° to keep it tidy.
I'm waiting for 4 🤣
okay that looks nice
Yeah dude, CA stands for CyanoAcrylate, so it basically dries into what? Acrylic.
why did you choose 54w of power instead of 60w?
