I’m happy to hear that coffee is not an issue
Same here! I always thought that it was the reason for my dehydration lol! x
No matter what. I have to have my coffee. ;)
I need my coffee ☕️
Yes!!! Haha
Same here 🙋🏻♀️🙌🏼
This woman is a living encyclopedia.
I love your deep dives into how the skin functions. You can’t get too detailed for me! Educational slides make my day:) You are so generous in sharing knowledge.
I see my derm annually for a skin check but she only has a few minutes to give me advice on how to cope with aging. I leave frustrated (I’m an RN and like getting more information). Last time I left with a $160 bottle of Vit C. Thanks to you I will never do that again! I am so thankful to have I found you on UA-cam and I appreciate the education you give me. Really enjoy your deep dive educational videos like this one. Keep up the great work!
She said vitamin C helps to produce collagen but the scientific name of the collagen (I cant pronounce) is rare to manufacture into products. She didnt say vitamic C doesnt help
Dr. Dray, that’s what I love about you. You don’t just tell us what to use, you thoroughly explain whatever the topic.
I swear it's like Dr. Dray knows exactly what my skin is going through when she uploads her videos....also tried the Necessaire's products at Sephora yesterday - loved them!
"Drink more water..the answer to everyone woes" 🤣🤣
So happy for this information - as I get 'wiser', my oily skin is becoming 'normal but dehydrated' according to my esthetician...I nod my head like I understand what she means, but NOW I really get it. I love this detailed information! Oh, and as a coffee lover, I'm SO happy to hear that coffee isn't 'the enemy' - reversing all my efforts to drink more water. Thanks for keeping us educated!
No wonder I felt no use in applying oil on my skin. Never knew the difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin. Thank you for this video.
This is such a key concept! Really helped me when I first heard from you. Also just watched the J Lo video- about HRT- a reason no one talks about it is that one tiny study that, for a generation, caused docs to avoid discussion with us as we lived through menopause. Three sisters- all live in different areas, different docs (now in our mid 50's- 60's). None of our docs brought up to us as an option for menopause. None of my friends either- the only quick mention was that unless you were practically dying from symptoms, it wasn't worth the risk to really consider HRT. Yeah I didn't have horrible typical symptoms but maybe it would've helped with horrible worsening chronic migraine...
I love these deep dives into skin health
Adding products containing urea has been a game changer for face, body, and nail care for me. Indeed it does all the things you've mentioned in your videos. I haven't eliminated occlusives or products with an oily base completely but have slowly learned from you that those products alone aren't the answer to improving skin barrier function and eliminating dryness. Thanks for another very educational video!
Love the info! Always appreciate product recommendations in addition.
Thank you for explaining the epidermis and skin cell turnover. It totally makes sense why my son’s skin soaks up lotions and water within seconds/minutes. He doesn’t produce the STS enzyme and has a form of ichthyosis. Thank you for this video. I appreciate it!
Really appreciate skin care advice from Dr Dray, who has beautiful skin.
Thanks so much for this Dr. Dray. Now I clearly understand what I'm dealing with from a very different body versus face perspective. I was partially there in my approach thanks to other videos, but I've got the whole view now, simple, execute and be consistent. Thanks again!
I love Necessaire!! The hand and body lotions are so nice and I appreciate the omission of fragrance! I have backups on hand at all times. Great to see you reviewing and promoting them ❤️
Great video! Leads in the direction of what products to buy!
Great topic!! You helped me with this last fall with another one of your videos. Looking great btw!
This made me go back to my lecture classes .... u r a great lecturer...u should try joining in a college too.. u explain amazingly.... thank u so much.
Thanks for the awesome helpful video ☺️
You look really beautiful today, It's amazing to see the progress you have had over the course of two years when comparing your old videos to the new ones.
You are right! I just noticed she looks so fresh and elegant today
Hi Dr. Dray is so bad for me you don’t live in NY You will definitely be my dermatologist without a doubt. Thank you for all the knowledge you share with us. I changed my skin care routine my hyper pigmentation is much better now. You helped me a lot. Thanks again.
I appreciate your in-depth and expert explanations! -xo
AMAZING in depth video. Thank you 💕
I always learn so much! Thank you!
Thanks for the content! Hope you, your mom and Tybee are having a nice week.
Thanks for watching
I wouldn’t watch if you didn’t impact my life for the better. Thanks for empowering strangers on the Internet. You and your family deserve happiness and health.
This video is exactly what I was looking for today as my skin has recently become drier and has dry bumps.
What are dry bumps?
This is so interesting! I live in Arizona “it’s a dry heat” and I would refer to my skin being dry, I think, when the environmental issues like we have hard water resulting is stiff or taut skin.
Arizona has hard water too which doesn't help with moisture either.
I just moved here a month ago and my skin has been dry like crazy. This makes so much sense since my skin had never acted like this before!
Mz
Thank you for this video! Much appreciated. I am a heavy tea drinker and I do not enjoy drinking a lot of plain water or any other beverages. And I hear from everywhere that tea is dehydrating and water is the only saviour. I needed to hear that this is not true! PS. I have to say, you look so nice in this video!
Took so long figuring out what’s different in your look today. Middle-parted hair style suits you Dr. Dray!
Thanks 😊
Yes😀
omg I asked for this video a few days ago !! thank you Dr Drayy
Thanks for watching
I just started watching your videos (subscribed and starting to sunscreen haha) and I have so much new awesome info. I really appreciate your taking the time to provide consistent and straightforward information. I also really enjoy your vlogs :)
You look really pretty here Dr. Dray. Been watching since 2017. Love your content still
I’m in esti school at the moment and we were talking about this yesterday but I feel like my instructor didn’t describe it as well as you. Thanks! ❤
Always a pleasure to learn🙏💜 I don't know if I speak for the majority but ur content is always helpful and concise, and truly bringing knowledge and awareness to our skin needs is what we needed for a long time, that along with transparency from brands...so massive thnx Dr Dray🥰💗
Humidifiers also help. They can’t solve the problem altogether (you still have to drink lots of water) but they are definitely helpful. I own three humidifiers (for my office, bedside and living room) and I turn them on whenever the humidity hits 50% or lower.
Ooh, I would love to see a longitudinal study on people who have lived in humid vs arid climates their whole lives to see if it makes a difference in their skin and signs of aging. I live in an extremely humid climate but my skin is still extremely dry, although that may be more due to sweating I guess?
I was just looking at Lab Muffins vid on it and Dr Drays notification showed up. Crazy..I love both
Dr. Dray is so awesome.
Currently dealing with Dehydration and it's not fun! Thank you for being our saviour Dr Dray! 🙌🏻
How to overcome dehydration because my degradation is not going nomatter how much I drink
@@Sara-nj7ox Try to drink electrolyte water, it is better than normal water.
I have that hand cream and it is awesome!! Have a great day💐
The reason I like your videos it’s because you give the WHOLE explanation, I love it♥️♥️
Thank you for giving quality information, as usual ❤️
thanks for watching
Always putting out useful and quality content. Thank you very much, I've learned about urea on your channel and it has helped my skin a lot. Also you look prettier and prettier every day, so motivating to keep a healthy lifestyle.
I love all your videos.. I've learned so much about my skin! You're beautiful without make up . I do like when you surprise up and wear make up...it's very pretty on you especially when you wear eye make up. Keep putting out great content!!
I've never been to a dermatologist that has really helped me other than to freeze something off. I really appreciate learning what I can here.
Totally learned. Btw that is why I checked in. ❤️😎
Thank you for all your knowledge that you share. I wish I had ur guidance when I was young. I’m learning ~ better late than never👍😊
I would LOVE a list of ingredients that hydrate and a list that moisturize because I am so confused!!!
You look so elegant in this video. Very pretty.
How does Isotretinoin affect the skin's ability to maintain hydration and the moisture barrier after you've stopped taking it?
Woohoo, it’s 2:04 am in Australia and this video just dropped! Usually I don’t see them till the next day
Thanks for watching
Hi Wendy, I normally watch at 2am too and feel 'late' today as it's just past 3am Friday morning. I should be less curious and wait until later in the day!
👱♀️❤
@@nadab4750 Where is that Nada? Australia too?
Yes Tina (& Wendy), Rippleside, bay & beachside Geelong, 50 mins from Melbourne. So we're in lockdown. I'm on annual leave at the moment, and when I'm at work it alternates between day & night; so that's why my circadian rhythm is so random! I have to make sure I get my beauty sleep though!
👱♀️❤
YES!! Necessaire
Thank you so much!
Hi Dr Dray, Happy Thursday!
Happy Thursday
hi dr. dray. if u happened to read my comment, please talk more about dehydrated skin. influencers always talk about PI, PIH, rosacea, dryness, acne prone, oily, combo etc but no one really dive in about dehydrated skin (dry-dehydrated or oily-dehydrated), how to handle it and what kind of product should be use and should not use.
Thank you for great information I will never get board listening to your content 👩🏼🙏🥰
I appreciate that
The Necessaire body serum is where it’s at I can’t live without it !🖤
Another great video! Your face is glowing & your skin looks beautiful! What did you use on your face today?
Dr Dray, please can you share tips in a video about getting sunscreen out of one’s clothes?! I’m finally taking SPF seriously but no idea how to manage the stains. It gets everywhere when I reapply because I don’t want to miss a spot so just go for it haha. Xx
I've been longing so much for someone to answer this question for me. I hope Dr. Dray notices it.
What is the correct skincare routine for those who are working on a graveyard shift? Where literally your morning starts at 10PM-7AM and your night and bedtime starts 7AM onwards until 4-5 in the afternoon. Where does application of sunscreen be inserted?
If you’re coming home in the AM and you’re going to be awake and pottering around for a few hours in the daylight (and especially if you’re sleeping near a window without blackout blinds,) then I would advise you to apply your sunscreen as soon as you finish work. If you shower when you get home then that’s perfect, ‘cause you can apply it after you cleanse!
Basically, we need to have sunscreen on whenever the sun is up 👍🏼.
I hope I’ve helped you! 😊
Happy Wednesday Dr Dray! :)
You too
You looked so beautiful in white💕
Happy Thursday Dr Dray...see you tomorrow x🤩💙
i love the well hey guys omggg 😭😭😭

Great video! Well done, "Skinfessor"- hope you enjoyed making it too! :-)
Very interesting video! Do stretch marks come from stretched dermis or epidermis?
Happy Thursday, Dr. Dray 🎀🌸🤍
Happy Thursday
Greetings Maricel Gundayao hope u r well n Happy Thursday😀👍💜….
Hi Maricel!
👱♀️❤
hi dr dray! so, i thought i had just super oily skin, but it turns out i think i have combination skin instead as i would put on my oily targeted skin care products all over, i noticed my cheeks would “burn” or flake. i switched up my routine and i kid you not, in less than a WEEK my skin looks SUPER clear! i live in Texas as well but west Texas to be exact (Texas Tech University) and i noticed when i would go to Dallas or Austin my skin looked and felt better as well because of the moisture in the air.
Dr Dray - Recently found your channel and appreciate all the wisdom. I never understood proper skincare and I've been following your advice and my skin looks and feels so much better! I'm having one new problem though that I imagine could be plaguing other viewers. I'm suddenly much more prone to styes on my lower lash line. I'm not sure if it's because I'm putting sunscreen around my eyes multiple times a day, or because I've been putting a little bit of vaseline on my eyelids at night before applying a retinol to my face. Any tips for dealing with this problem?
So, I'm not the doc. But my theory is that, when you cleanse, maybe you're not cleansing adequately the eye area. Or if u put petrolatum on various times throughout the day, maybe your fingertips/eye area aren't clean enough. Might be, you're trapping dirt and not cleansing the area adequately.
My suggestion is cleanse with micellar water first (the most basic and popular one you can find), before your usual face wash. Just soak cotton pads and press them on your eye area, wait a few minutes, then gently wipe.
Thank you for an in depth talk on this! I never knew which one I had I just knew my skin was always peeling in certain areas and almost every foundation made me look so dry
Thank you Dr.
I wish you could have recommended some products for dehydrated skin
Oh I was JUST feeling the tightness of my neck and face and wondering whether it's dry or dehydrated, yay!!
Thanks for watching
I have a dull dry tight flaking skin,no oils,no moisture present and when i moisturise it stays hydrated for a very very short period of time then goes back to being dry.I think i may have a nutritional deficiency but i dont know what it could be
I don't know what the underlying cause might be, but it sounds like you might be having moisture barrier issues.
I have eczema on my face, hands, scalp…during winter but it completely clears in the summer. I was thinking about trying phototherapy at home. I would like to know if it’s safe and what are your recommendations. Thank you for your wonderful work Dr Dray ! ❤️
I subscribed tonight. I sure hope you see this and answer tonight. It is not related to this video but important to me. I had brown spots frozen today on face and need to know what is the aftercare? Anything? Vaseline? Moisturizers? Should I wash my face and if so with what?
I really enjoyed this video! I also happen to really enjoy Necessaire as well 😅. I use their fragrance free body wash currently as well as their deodorant but eucalyptus scented ✌
So interesting, as always, Dr. Dray!
What is your go-to oil or balm cleanser to remove mascara & tinted sunscreen these days? Still using Neutrogena?
Thank you & stay healthy!
Can you recommend spray moisturizers? I can’t find any without fragrance
❤️❤️❤️👏👏 thank you. Fantastic!
Happy Thursday
@@DrDrayzday happy Thursday!
Thanks so much for explaining the difference. How you manage to address everyone's concerns, questions, and skin conditions, plus all of the shop with me and all the other fun videos, I'll never know. Wish I had your energy!! You are one impressive lady!!! Happy Thursday, Dr Dray! Hope you have a lovely evening. 💞
Big fan!
I am on the hunt for a hand AND/OR body lotion I can apply multiple times a day that will minimize sun spots. Also one to help with crepe hands. If I can get that all in one container…bonus!!
Thank you for this video, it's super helpful. Could you maybe explain how or why delayed skin cell turnover of the top layer keeps the skin dry (as you mention around 11 minutes)? I don't have much chemistry or biology related training and I always kind of assumed that when desquamation is a bit slow that would only be a superficial cosmetic issue and perhaps even improve stratum corneum barrier function. But if I understand correctly it has a negative impact on deeper layers of the epidermis and maybe even the dermis? Can hydration not get through correctly if there's too much buildup of corneocytes there? Or is it something else?
What occlusive do you recommend for daily use in the harsh windy New England winters?
Dr Dray- could you please address the recent formulation change with some of the Necessaire products as several of them went out of stock and have been rereleased at Sephora as new. I’m specifically curious about The Body Serum. Thank you 🙏🏻
Dr. Dray, can you review the maya chia line? Specifically the “natural” encapsulated retinol Called straight A and the super blend pressed serum. Wondering what your thoughts on this type of retinol. Thank you!!
Dr Dray what do you think about cannabidiol in creams, and their effect on acne?
I just moisturized nesscessaire and aveeno restorative therapy.. love it..
Hello Dr. Gray hope you are doing well this time of pandemic. This is Jacob from the philippines, I've been watching your youtube videos about your amazing skin care routine. I've been suffering from back acne and i've been using panoxyl foaming wash with 10% benzoyl peroxide and it is effective and i've noticed that my back acne started to dried up gradually. However, it leaves dark spots on my back. Can you can give me an effective way or best product to use to get rid of those dark spots on my back area? Thanks Dr. Gray and God bless.
Can you do a video for super dry climate slin regimen? (New Mexico!)
Quick question- for those of us that live in very humid and hot climates - does the excess climate moisture benefit aging skin, or does it not help because of sweat etc?
Yes I’m wondering this too!
