The post-millennium period saw an explosion of genre film festivals across the world. In Europe alone there are now 120 such events. In Britain this period spawned a number of iconic and long-lived festivals, including FrightFest (2000), Mayhem Film Festival (2005), Abertoir Horror Festival (2006), Celluloid Screams (2009) and Grimmfest (2009). Join our panel of experts to reflect on what has changed during this time, the dynamics and politics of the genre circuit, the challenges of both a covid and post-covid world and what it takes to make a horror film festival stay the course.
