My 74-year-old late mom lived alone, so I asked how she opened stuck jars. She said she sticks a knife under the edge & gives it a little twist, which lets air in, and breaks the suction / seal... or if she will be using all the contents / is not saving any, she will poke a tiny hole in the lid with a push-pin. What a smart cookie! Love & miss her, and her wise advices.
My Mom would hollar every year when the Salad Shooter commercials would start that she didn't want one so don't buy her one. I finally told her one year that I was going to by her one just so she'd stop. She finally wound up buying me one for grating up my soaps, lol.
Ive watched 100s of soap videos, through many different platforms. I enjoy your videos the most. You have mishaps (adventures). I love adventures! Thank you!
Ok, second time I have seen the soap volcano over the pot on you, so you now have me convinced that you to get the larger 18L container to do this. After having mine do that once and give me 2nd & 3rd degree burns due to the gloves, I immediately went and bought one. Check your Asian markets/warehouses as they sale these to the public very inexpensively if they carry restaurant supply items (there are several in the Denver area).
If you have to open a difficult jar turn it sideways to approximately a 50-degree angle and then give the lid a good whack right on the pointy end of the lid.
Thank you for sharing! After watching the volcanoes and the overflowing mess, then the cutting challenge, I am convinced not to try making soap! If someone experienced as you ends up burning herself and has such a mess, I as a novice would have a complete disaster and possibly land in the hospital! Thank you for a realistic video!
Donna Hinds I've used this type in my front loader. You only use 1-2T per load and you put it directly in the drum. You can use vinegar for the softener
Yes, homemade laundry soap is HE friendly. This was just the first step in the process though. She adds other stuff later. Borax and washing soda get added. That is why her 8lbs of laundry detergent will be around 20lbs in the end.
I have made cold process coconut oil soap bars. Zero superfat. Goes so much faster and not messy and stressful like this... 😅 So why HOT process and not cold? 🤔 Maybe I know by the end of the video. 😉
I just made it. I did a small batch and it all happened do fast. Grated and cooling. Thanks! My second ever batch of soap. The first was a shampoo bar and got lye everywhere - scarey! So you have me the courage to try again! LOVE the hot stick blender method. ♨️💕
I was just wondering, what keeps the soap warm. Just the reaction between the lye and the water or is it something else. This is the frist time I've seen hot processed soap made this way. Everyone I've seen always uses a crockpot.
I do not know how you soap with short sleeves. My arms would get all irritated and burnt. Maybe I'm extra messy, but I have to wear long sleeves every time.
@@HowToMakeSoapOnADime Thank you for your answer. I remember tales of those being washed with lye soap, and it wasn't pretty. I gather you are saying the lye undergoes a chemical change when the soap mix finishes combining. Is this correct?
I don't have the nerves for the fast process lol Tried it once, I know where I went wrong but my heart was in my throat when I couldn't stir down the volcano lol My crock pot wasn't big enough and it was too hot. I was a wreck watching you stir down the volcano and you had TWO going. Not on your Nellie would I attempt that I'm too old lol :o)
I'm always terrified for her poor Macbook Pro just sitting there next to 8 lbs of oil, fresh lye water, volcanoing soap...! Just one splash would destroy it. I'd throw some plastic wrap over it just in case. They also sell silicone covers for the keyboard. But her Mac always seems to survive :)
@@HowToMakeSoapOnADime Loved this video. You’re inspiring me. Are you still making this for your family? I he not have palm oil (I accidentally bought 8 lbs of it). I’m wondering if it would be worth it to try this with palm oil? I’m trying to figure out a way to use it.

I knew the trick with the knife but not the one with the push-pin 😀😀😀 thank you!
So lucky here in Brazil you can buy ready made cocnut oil soap easily. It comes in bars, paste, liquid.

she has great videos. never cuts it apart to be "perfect". but at times it's like watching a glorious hot mess train wreck.
You can buy a food processor and it will be a lot faster to shred the soap, I use one that cost me around 12 dollars and I grate the soap super fast!

I love this so much. Those feminists can take a hike! Thanks for leaving it in!
To make it a liquid soap just use potassium hydroxide instead of sodium hydroxide and you can use the hot process
I know you had a hard time in doing that. but Ive learned. thanks for the video.
can you make the laundry soap with a cold pressed or melt & pour soap bar?
I know ma'am you had a hard time in making that soap. Atleast you made it up to the end. and that makes sense, you still made it great!
I was on the edge of my seat every time it volcanoed. I am only brave enough for one container at a time. You really got a work out today!!
How much lye did you use to make the soap?
can I buy some of this soap?
When did you put the Borax in? I missed that.
Making/editing videos is a lot of work! Great job!

Hi, can I use the same recipe for cold press and hot press?
I have never made laundry soap but I bet it works well. What type of machine do you have? I have a HE machine. Does it cause a lot of suds?

Hello.. Is there anyway to just buy the soap directly from U? I just subscribed to the email. Thanks
Do you do powered also, I don't like the liquid
Just looking I make my own soap been watching lots of vivd

your link in the buy my soap here isnt working
Thanks for your helpful video 💞
Can we use corn oil, or sunflower oil as well??
Thanks for a real laugh today. You are amazing in the best way possible!!
Do you have a laundry powder recipe available by any chance? I do not have the room to store that much liquid :)
Thanks.
How do you use this? Just put a scoop in the washer? Or do you mix with borax etc? Loved the video! Thanks
Both!

Just the hot lye/water and hot oils.
"The feminist can take a hike" lol 😂
are you going to sell this in your etsy store
Not sure yet.
Hope u decide to sell
I don't see it on any heat so how is it doing that I don't see it on a stove please explain
You heat the oils up and it cooks itself.
We can see everything just fine.
I do not know how you soap with short sleeves. My arms would get all irritated and burnt. Maybe I'm extra messy, but I have to wear long sleeves every time.
I get too hot with long sleeves. I rarely get burned.
Is this good for people with sensitive skin? (I’m inclined to think so, because it doesn’t have fragrance added.)
Yes it is.

Can we buy the laundry soap off you at your shop
Are you using distilled water for this recipe? Does it matter since laundry water is tap?
You use distilled water to be sure the lye doesn't react with any free radicals in your water like metals, or chemicals. 😊
Rachael Telakowicz Thank you!
I did use it for this but only out of habit. It's not needed if you water isn't too hard. Ours is really soft so I could have used it out of the tap.
That is good to know our water is very hard! I know to use D-water whenever I soap no matter what kind of soap I'm making. Thanks!
Was it saponified bu the time it exploded out?... I have never watched hot process and that was so scary to me
Isn't lye very hard on the skin?
No there isn't lye in the soap when it's finished as soap.

How to do soap hard
You rock !!!
Is it safe for High efficiency washing machines
Yes!
Wish you luck stay bless..
I know u say 0%super fat, but what percentage is your water?
Looks like a monster batch there, you should be clean for quite awhile. Nice work
cleaning with oil. hard to wrap my mind around that. why does oil stain clothing yet used in cleaning clothing?
Because mixing the oil with lye causes saponification turning the mixture into soap. So you don’t clean with just oil, it’s been turned into soap :)
It is always an adventure!
CAN YOU WRITE NAME AND QUANTITY CLEARLY PLEASE
Thanks for this video, I'm going to try this. How much would you put in your washing machine for one load of laundry please?

OMG, my anxiety too! I was a wreck! 🤣 (this is great, fun video, I’m totally going to make this. Thank you!)
I’m sure this is amazing soap, but what a disaster 😅
Tell me that is not a real MacBook Pro sitting there! My anxiety was through the roof. 🤣
yes, yes it was. :)

The recipe link goes to your olive oil soap, instead of the laundry soap recipe. I found it, just wanted to let you know.
No I forgot to put the post up. I will get it done next week.

BJ to the rescue! That's what sons are for ;) It's never dull, Tawra! That's for sure. MAN! That's a lot of laundry soap! Do you sell it on etsy?
I don't sell it right now but I might.
23oz of lye got it❤
In order to open a jar, if you dont have a man handy, then use a jar opener or a rubber glove!
🥰
Hahahaha.... Definitely we do need men around
Yeah BJ
