I'm very pleased to say I'm now the proud owner of the Joe Strummer Tele! It's fantastic and just perfect for me as I gig most weeks and it's gonna get some real proper outings this year with my band,The SKAstards. I have to say a massive thank you to Colin for doing a deal with me on Reverb. Been playing it the last 2 days and it's immense and looks fantastic and as a huge Clash and Joe Strummer fan it's deffo the guitar for me. Long live the Guitaristas!
It’s true!… I was I two minds until Ash here reached out and made his pitch that tipped the balance. No doubt in my mind it’s gone to a great home and will be played in anger… Joe would be proud!! 😁🎸👍 🧷 Cheers Ash!!
Hi Colin, good choice! Now you are a rich man and have to spend all that money again! You now need an Eastman T59V to fill up your collection again! Cheers Nobby
I missed pt3 so I'll have to go back and watch it Col.. Wish l cd win lotto (once!) I'd buy the Guild and a few others!! I wdnt sell the Strummer, they did a pretty good job replicating his Tele. Glad you're keeping the Eastman's... cracking guitars, even the Juliet's grown on me. I dunno about the UK, but prices in Australia have gone up (like everything!).. Now we have to sit back and wait to see what you buy with your new found wealth!! Good show you've got Col, we all enjoy it. Thanks mate!
I have just watched these back to back. Absolutely love it! I have one guitar, a 2022 Epi Les Paul Lemon Burst which is great. The Mrs is even happy with it sitting on a stand in the front room! but I have a list where I am going to try and limit myself a collection of 5, maybe 6 that are diverse in their sound. A Gibson Les Paul Jnr; Telecaster 60’s and Telecaster 70’s/72 Deluxe; Gretsch Electromatic (6 or 12 string!) possibly a Sheraton……..the most positive thing to come out of my own recent rekindled guitar obsession is that my youngest daughter came downstairs last night having been practicing on her acoustic and played White Stripes 7 Nation Army! 🤘🏼
A very important reason that keeps me coming back for more, is the fact that like the rest of us that have/had a guitar collection, knowing those guitars well (NOT just reviewing and sending back like other sites) and sharing the good, bad and ugly, helps us, your supporters, decide on future acquisitions. BRAVO...!😎👍👍 New acquisitions of yours, Colin, gives us knowledge, entertainment and groovy licks, just to name of few of the highlights. It IS hard to see a collection go...I know. However the future contenders for collection status is...well "F"ing cool😁👍 Amazing that you do all this and share with....US👍👍 BRAVO 😎👍 SPAIN...??? Madiera.. ???😃👍👍👍 😎✌👍❤🖖 Love Brother
Thanks man, I hope I'm finding my groove here now and of course looking forward to sharing some of the new 'for me' purchases (there are now 2 🤣) as well as some stuff we can poke around and take apart. 😁👍🎸👌
Hi Colin, great final instalment - bravo! My friend -(a) keep the Eastmans, natch -they are gorgeous and I really do believe this initial batch will reach ''59 Gibson status' in a decade or two and (b) I'd hang on to that Gibson L50 acoustic too if I were you. If i had the money I would happily have taken 'Scratch' off your hands . . .despite the grief the Peach retailers put you thru I think it was a lovely piece and I am 100% sure the new owner is enjoying it. The rest, let them go as you see fit. FYI, in case you hadn't noticed, Eastman are now taking on Fender - the Coral Blue "S Style' is now No. 4 after SB59/v, Pomona Blonde Juliet. T 494 (? - semi acoustic 335/ Casino). They have a Tele and whatever but the Strat is the only one that grabs me . . . cheers and it's great you are letting stuff go. The way I see it you are a an SG & Tele guy - absolute opposite of me (LP & Strat) but I am happy you are hanging onto those Eastmans . . .all the best from the mystic East 😃
That’s funny. I’d pick up a les paul way before any other guitar on the planet. We all have different love affairs with these things. I was watch Mark knopfler say guitars are like characters in a play. You have to cast the right guitar for the roll. I so agree with that. As guitarist, some of us like to be a part of playing more roll than others.
LMAO! I think I said it in one of these parts 1-3, I'm having the same issue trying to decipher which ones I can comfortably sell without regret. I don't have a channel here, or a Reverb page. Just an eBay page in the USA & when ones don't sell even after reduction in price and/or with an auction or buy it now, I've taken some down as well. And like you say, "Scammers everywhere". I've regretted selling a few & can't sell some that have been with me for decades. Anyway, carry on I'm just watching this today & will be watching your newest one later today I have to catch up. It's nice to have many as they do bring us pleasure & they are nice to look at. I'm sadly paying down bills instead of re-investing in them & because of issues medically not being able to play as I used to, so they're mainly going because of that. IF I get better I'll probably be more pi**ed about some I've let go as we know some cannot be replaced. Anywho, stay well mate! Cheers!
Haha I tried to sell you that ages ago Paul! 😆 yes that went a while back to someone who will hopefully appreciate it more than I did.. and of course it opens the door to finding another in the future I hope!
@@theguitaristasWell it was a beauty. In fact, I WILL own a Duesenberg Starplayer at some point in my future. I think your original video planted a seed….. I better get saving.
Every piece of gear has its moment in the sun. My maxim is if I haven't used something for 3 months, it's fair game to get sold in order to get something I will use (for a time). It's the GAS circle of life 😂👍
Please get the PRS DGT SE Goldtop with moon inlays. I assure you you will ike that guitar VERY MUCH! Chunky neck, no birds, vintage tone. Is fantastic! And Im someone who owns an Eastman SB59/v, owened Gibson USA gibson Custom shop, and the PRS is just amazing. Please get one!
It's cool that so many sold so fast. Good luck selling off the rest! You may want to get a different stand, or toss a cloth over the existing stand at all of the contact points. Enjoy your break!
I got tired of waiting for you to review the Epiphone Uptown Kat ES and bought one used. It's a great playing and sounding guitar. You really should check one out. My favorite Epiphone. Love the show and looking forward to seeing what you get in 2024.
Great start to 2024 with your channel, don’t sell the Standard LP, that guitar sounds awesome! I know it’s not your go to guitar but dang that one sounds and looks amazing!
Great finish to a well told story. This collection series was very fulfilling... like reading a good book. People outside our community must think we're all loonies, but inside we're all in a comfortable place that makes perfect sense. :)
Thanks for the content! The 50's Standard sounds great. That would be one of the last ones I would sell. But I have 4 of the 50's so I'm Jaded. The SG would stay too. At least for me.
I've loved this series of videos Col. Taking a leaf I flipped a few guitars yesterday at my local store (shout out to Back Alley Music) walked away with a black Eastman 59v and an Eastman Acoustic. 3 out 2 in. No regrets. 😊
I know what you mean. I got an Epi Les Paul because of all the hype, and, it is perfect. But, I usually just pick up the Telecaster. Great video as usual.
I’ve been watching your channel for a few months and this is my first comment… I really really enjoy your personality, the way you convey your thoughts, your accent (I’m a Kiwi) and your wonderful sense of humour, your honesty is appreciated also. Thanks Col, keep doin what you’re doing, you’re loved and cherished by many old muzos like myself!
That SG-2 is BAD ASS! Such a cool guitar! Mojo for days, yes. Personally, I enjoy modded in period and well used guitars, even if it is something that is considered classic or valuable these days. When they were modded, someone was just trying to reach a vision they had for the instrument or for the type of music they were playing, with no regard for future value, which they could hardly know anyway! Nice one.
Hi Colin, Now you've sold all these guitars and have some cash burning in your skyrocket, I thought I'd wet your whistle. Bernie Marsden is selling his 1998 Gibson Custom Shop Lonnie Mack Flying V + OHSC Bernie Marsden Collection on Reverb. 🔥🤘
Good decision on the Stratosonic. The mods I did on mine with Gibson P-90s and a black TP adjustable bridge make it a killer and still very affordable guitar. Can't wait to see what you acquire in the coming year.
Some guitars become long lasting friends despite their faults. Some guitars you just fall in love with, and some just become acquaintances. It is still hard to part with any of them, whatever the relationship.
Discovered your channel, Colin, about 10 days ago and binging has been a pleasure. Love the long form, genuine, honest, knowledgeable, relatable, BS free approach. Keep it going. I'm off to watch more from the archives after this - with nibbles and a beverage, of course!
I flirted with a Vintera ii 60s Strat (I don't even like Strats) just for the thrill of having 'something on the side', but honestly can't begin to think about selling any of my four electrics so resisted the temptation. But you're right, sometimes the big thrill is just buying. Me and the old girl have just bought a flat in our home town, and what home would it be without a guitar, so I can, with a clear conscience, get back in the market. And it's going to be a black Gretsch single-cut with a Bigsby, with a view to upgrading. That probably is a clue to our hometown as that model is synonymous with one of the greats, rest his soul. Unlike you, Col, I do like acoustics - I own a three-quarter Mexican Martin and a dreadnought Simon & Patrick (S&Ps are superb guitars, regardless of the fact they are affordable). Even if you don't fancy finger pickin', running through a few 1, 4, 5s on an acoustic is a great way to wile away an hour or so. Taking a breather is a good idea. But when you are back in the groove, a few pick up swaps (as mentioned) and other nerdy stuff would be great on the TV channel. No pressure. Looking forward to another great year. All the best, mate.
I've been a little hard on you, especially on the last video (Part 3), about your love (preference?) for P90 equipped guitars. Of my 20-odd guitars, all but 4 are twin-humbucker type guitars, so I need to trim the collection just as drastically as you have done - if not more so. I completely understand about your dilemma, not wanting to let go. About getting frazzled and over-worked, just take 1 out of every 4 weeks off, or 1 out of every 8 weeks - but, make it a firm rule, for the good of your own health, both physical and mental. We'll be here, us fellow nerds/nutcases, looking forward to your next outpouring of eccentricity and honesty. More power to you, Col!!
Good choices for the keepers. The Squiers and the Epiphone LPS Mustard are great inexpensive ones to keep. The ones you’ve sold will make some money, while the low price ones won’t; but they have their own unique value, which is not financial. Good series.
Late to the party, sorry Colin. I love the Tokai absolutely beautiful and for me a keeper, along with the Gibson Std. The Vintage SG is cool as 10 too, great video mate as always. 🤘
If I had the cash I had this time last year I would of loved to of bought one of your guitars, I know it would be a great standard and given that kind of care and attention that you want when spending money on a guitar.
Love the look of that L50 and similar guitars. Would be a great wallhanger. Wouldn’t play it. Some lovely guitars again. Woman collect handbags. Some people collect stamps. You can only wear one pair of shoes at the time. I love having multiple different guitars.
Another great fun video, Colin…. I really think you are going to love the PRS SE DGT… I am older than you and had similar thoughts about PRS, except that I have been a Santana fan for many years. I now have 3 PRS SE guitars and 2 of them are beside me all the time instead of my Gibson or Fender. I have McCarty 594 single cut - best guitar I’ve ever played and a Silver Sky - fab.. give it a try
Damn fine collection Colin! I was drooling like Homer Simpson over donuts with sprinkles. Taking time off, yes it's important and rest assured we'll always be here to watch after your break.
I've got one of those Crafter acoustic guitars. Sounds very good buy the action is very high at the top end of the fingerboard. Low at the nut end. Good strumming guitar.
I bought two gibson style guitars, a Les Paul style and a 335 style guitar. Both are very nice. However, after years of playing telecasters and stratocasters and Jazzmasters, I still don't feel comfortable playing gibson style guitars. I'm going to sell mine and just stick with my Fenders. We all have our tastes when it comes to guitars--right? That Squire telecaster is sweet! Love the green color
Really enjoyed this series Colin . Well done on cutting the fat! Recently done the same thing with 4 guitars. I didn’t want to at first but at the decided to go ahead as I wasn’t playing them and really wasn’t planning to play them! 2024 is all about playing. No purchases this year (he says 😅)
I'm a little late to the party, work got in the way today. I have gotten rid of 3 guitars but I didn't sell them I gave them away to friends of mine that were interested in learning to play. They weren't very expensive 200 dollars or so but good players. After doing that I have found myself in the early hours looking for guitars. I want a green one not sure what model but green for sure. It's a good place to start.. love the videos, cheers
Loved this episode Colin! So glad you're keeping the Squier Stratosonic (its because of your video that I bought one and well I did love the concept of a Strat with P-90s too) and the Squier CV Tele in olive drab to name a few. The 70s SG that's been modded is kind of cool too. Would love to hear that one! In the end It's really hard to let certain ones go for sure but like you've said you can buy other ones now. I do hope you do a comparison of the Epiphone TV Yellow Les Paul Special and SG Special now that would be cool! So curious as to what you just bought you devil! Anyways thanka again for the wonderful vid and keep up the great work 👍
Hi Colin, I suggest to try Tonerider pickups to swap on your olive Squier tele - the Vintage Plus version, they are absolutely killer. Would be a nice comparison on your channel before and after. Regards.
The Robert Smith guitar you might be thinking of is the black National Val Pro 88 from 1962. Schecter made that one you showed a pic of in honor of the National...presuming when he made a deal with Schecter.
Hi Collin, Glad you have kept the SB59/v and the Squier Custom Telecaster in Olive green. I have the same guitars and this has confirmed my decision to keep them. I love the SB59/v, wouldn’t change anything on it, the tone and feel is amazing. You mention you might upgrade the pickups on the Tele, I changed the saddles on mine to brass, the tuning machines to Fender vintage ones and the pickups to Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders, sounds amazing. Now just got a Gretsch G5230t in black like the one you reviewed a while ago. Keep up the good work and look forward to your future purchases, if I get any more my wife will kill me! Jason
The Guild is an absolute bargain .If I hadn't just lost my job I'd be right on that .Someone will get a beauty anyway.Don't sell the Strummer ,you will only kick yourself .
I have a Crafter TA050/AM Accoustic and I think they make great guitars for the price. All lovely guitars Colin. That Eastman always Special to see and what a lovely thing it is. I prefer it to Gibson. The Joe Strummer Tele as well is one of the must keep and not worth losing si much money on it as its too good to get a hit on it. I think you would regret selling that the most. On the Squier Tele I think Texan Special pickups will sound the best. It will make it sound so good and have that special sound.
On the Gibson SG2, I know it’s got locking tuners but add more string winds on the tuners to increase the break angle - might stop the strings jumping out of the nut so easily…. 😉👍🏻

Cheers man! 😎👍
Good choices for the keepers. The Squiers and the Epiphone LPS Mustard are great inexpensive ones to keep. The ones you’ve sold will make some money, while the low price ones won’t; but they have their own unique value, which is not financial. Good series.
Eastman DC SB 59/v, squire fsr Tele. I bought on the strength of your reviews.
Keep up the good work.
Great collection, great series thanks for all 😊 ❤ 😊
P,s I saw the Gibson TV episode with Rudy a week or 2 ago .His passion really did shine thru as you say ,brilliant.
Really looking forward to seeing your new crop! Managed to sell two of mine and went straight out and bought a Robert Cray strat and why not.
Why not! 😆👍
Late to the party, sorry Colin. I love the Tokai absolutely beautiful and for me a keeper, along with the Gibson Std. The Vintage SG is cool as 10 too, great video mate as always. 🤘
Inspiring... thank you!
Thanks Colin. Have a great weekend brother !
Thanks, you too! 😁👍
Pity about the Stratosonic, I quite fancied that. Don't blame you for keeping it Col.
Enjoyed your series of guitars you have currently, take care and take a break!
You made a old geordie happy with the deal on that old zenta Colin..the amount of comments I have already had on it from friends and family..cheers .
It was a pleasure and really nice to see it go and be appreciated... I just hope they were kind comments! 🤣🍺
@theguitaristas mostly comments about who's older me or guitar ..think it's me but not letting on 👍
@@biffabacon1203 🤣👍
Another great fun video, Colin…. I really think you are going to
love the PRS SE DGT… I am older than you and had similar thoughts about PRS, except that I have been a Santana fan for many years. I now have 3 PRS SE guitars and 2 of them are beside me all the time instead of my Gibson or Fender. I have McCarty 594 single cut - best guitar I’ve ever played and a Silver Sky - fab.. give it a try
You make me feel okay with my G.A.S. I lust daily for many, many guitars to add to the herd.
Damn fine collection Colin! I was drooling like Homer Simpson over donuts with sprinkles.
Taking time off, yes it's important and rest assured we'll always be here to watch after your break.
Cheers man, have a great weekend... I am hoping for a tiny glimmer of clear blue sky for you know what 🏍
@@theguitaristas Thanks Col! Same for you! It’s good for our mental health. 👍
I've got one of those Crafter acoustic guitars. Sounds very good buy the action is very high at the top end of the fingerboard. Low at the nut end. Good strumming guitar.
Thanks Colin, yet another great video
thanks for sharing man. cant wait to see the new toys. enjoy break.
Anyways thanka again for the wonderful vid and keep up the great work 👍
Really enjoyed this great series!
Wise decision, Collin, I told you about the Strummer Tele. Keep all what you can get about The Clash !!!
What a fantastic video Colin have a good weekend also I like the Gibson sg as well to be honest a favorite 😊❤
Thank you Sir once again for an enjoyable video. Cheers
Great views on moving some instruments around. I am going to take your advice and move some on.
Really dig southend music exchange very friendly shop
Hi Colin, I suggest to try Tonerider pickups to swap on your olive Squier tele - the Vintage Plus version, they are absolutely killer. Would be a nice comparison on your channel before and after. Regards.
Very Cool, Thankyou. Such an Awesome Collection, hate to see it broken up, But Great decisions made. All the Best. Cheers
Whew! Just reviewing your collection took some doing. It was interesting to see. Thanks for the videos.
Keepin' it real!
The Robert Smith guitar you might be thinking of is the black National Val Pro 88 from 1962. Schecter made that one you showed a pic of in honor of the National...presuming when he made a deal with Schecter.
👍👍
Hi Collin,
Glad you have kept the SB59/v and the Squier Custom Telecaster in Olive green.

Damn, that's a lot of guitars.
On the Gibson SG2, I know it’s got locking tuners but add more string winds on the tuners to increase the break angle - might stop the strings jumping out of the nut so easily…. 😉👍🏻
I nought these because they had low posts but it didn't really work 😆
I really like the Vintage SG Jr.
The shipping cost is the thing.
I'll keep an eye on it though.
