One of the sweetest work van set ups I’ve seen yet !
With Ryan's ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxy_pn55PK60wAV3X_C_RoLS_67mNonoCE plan I was like one taken by the hand and led step by step from start to finish. Thank you very much Ryan!
What a van set up Cameron. Top Notch!
hi scott all the way from south africa chatting and being addicted to your channel being in the trade for 30 od years and still learning kind regards
Crazy that most builders in America have tricks when these vans are such a great solution.
Cris Vega you're right!
Most have big trucks with job trailers they pull..some advantages
To the trailer like leaving it on site while the disadvantage is someone
Steals it with all your tools in it
I have a truck currently. But honestly, after realizing I could be getting 90% of my materials delivered and trash hauled away I could probably get away with a small van. Trucks are such a “status” symbol in the states. I’d admit, a small van like a Transit Connect wouldn’t be nearly as “impressive”, but it would save me a lot of fuel cost.
Patrick Houser Don't forget the gun rack on the back too
Which holds a gun or a level...or both!
Elijah well, now I have more incentive to keep working out of my truck! :-)
those little squares are ideal boomerangs ,,,,,but if they don`t come back ,,don`t go looking for them lol nice video mate
The weather and plants \ gardens look so similar to the UK. Surprising
Not sure I could sleep at night with that arsenal of tools in the van!
coops66 I’d setup my bed inside my van, or have a vault for a garage
Avid fan here.im on my 2nd year apprenticeship and loved you're videos very informative
That van is class
That van looks sick
Wow that van is awesome.
Love how well you took advice from a viewer and talked about it. We can all learn new things no matter how long in the trade
That van was nuts
That is an awesome van set up your mate has. I think we need a bit more of a guided in depth tour of that thing in a future Scott Brown Carpentry episode!
Good idea.
Yeah me to , I wana c what's in all the festool box's
Me three, I love getting ideas for van set ups. Anything to make our job as carpenters easier..
the little square is perfect to make sure that your chisel is cutting down at a perfect 90 held against the rear face
Hi Scott,
Nice tools. The squares are handy but I still think a speed square is more useful for the type of work you do.
Let us know how you go with the 'inkline' I suspect you'll soon switch back to a 'chalkline'.
Top vids Scott. Keep up the good work.
normel678 do u carry both a speed scare and set square in your tool belt?
@@MsElijah16 Just a speed square.
I do have a combination square as well, but I rarely use it these days.
Cheers mate, we'll see how I go. There are some limitations to an ink line for sure
Love the van setup
Wow that van is crazy. You just couldn't have that in the UK. It'd get jacked straight away.. Unless of course you had one of those 'No tools left in this van' stickers. 😄
Black Tea One Sugar hahahaha
I’ve heard differing opinions about the packers on the lintel. Most people haven’t even heard of it when I bring it up. Love your videos Scott, and that van setup.
Quality ...the little squares are ideal for checking your saw blades are bang on square
also joinery- design intention.
Tiny square is good for tiny jobs, I use mine to align trim.
what nice toys I want some greetings from Aguascalientes Mexico Scott very good videos
the small t squares are for your keys or key chain like put it on your van keys and you'll have one everywhere u go
Try olfa knifes they are Japanese snap of scalpels basically. So sharp and very nice to use. You don't even feel it in the pocket.
I like the little square. You should get a small sized tool belt and fill it with mini versions of your tools and see how long it takes your colleagues to figure out what is wrong. Little square, Amazon hammer, butter knife...
A builder's van reflects the quality of their work.
Love a good van tour
The baby square will become your best friend very quickly. Not pointless at all.
I just got that flush cut saw too. Just looking for a job to plug and cut.
What are the clamps on the ceiling of the van call? That clamp the level
Google "toggle clamps". You can usually find them in woodworking stores.
www.comac.co.nz/modules/SP_webshop/products.php?cat=114
Try Comac, they are a family owned company and easy to deal with
Can you do a video on your buddy's van? That is a sick van!!
Will do, in the next episode
You all seem refreshingly friendly and helpful, as opposed to us hardass grumpy competitive cynics here by the old Zealand. Fill that inkline thingy with graphite and it will be erasable, like a pencil line.
I have that same gyokucho flush cutter. Comes in handy more than I thought. Love the Japanese tools.
Love the van tour thanks for sharing
Liked that van at the end, well organized.
Great video 👍.
I notice the guy with the tidy van has one of those aluminium estwing hammers. Wonder what that's like to use.
where did you get the plexiglass larger rectangular router base plates, with the four large locking knobs.....
Why do you put silicon between the jamb and the framing? is it a requirement around the screw?
Is it me or does Cameron have the same style of shirt in every episode? Even at home~ Like Charlie Brown. It's his look.
woah his van fit out is legit cool.
that van set up is unreal, bro. Your mate is a legend. I'm an apprentice (3rd year) in Auckland, if you're keen to help me set up my mitsubishi lancer sedan for tool storage I'd buy you a box of beers and let you have a go with my Martinez M4 hammer and my diamondback apron
Lol you drive a hard bargain
Scott Brown Carpentry oh and maybe pay you for your time haha. Also getting in a stiletto finish hammer on Friday - a little 12 ounce hickory handle. Love the channel, bro.
Your visitor was a bit weird 😆. Cheers dude it was cool to go behind the scenes and hang out a bit.. the little square was a real cutey!
It was fun catching up bro! Do it again soon
@@ScottBrownCarpentry Yeah for sure man!
Rob Trautvetter - Takami Woodshop hey man just subbed to you, you seem a cool dude
@@II_4_R_Z_II Hey man - cheers dude! Hope you enjoy! 🤛👍
I'm sure I've seen that Rob guy before somewhere...
Boom!
No need to screw the header the aluminium framing and glazing is manufactured to accommodate those spans. Header is fixed in place with the arc unless there's p50's in which case you'll need to screw. I don't understand how silicon is any different from a packer should've used poly if you want to accommodate movement/flex. Fake it til ya make it.
Best ink line design ever! Love mine to death.
Hi Scott,
Great stuff man.
Your videos are such an inspiration. May I ask you, if possible of course to do a little review of the van of your friend. Thanks in advance.
Yes please! Love the van tours!
A lot of "I wish I would have thought of that!" Going on. I try & learn something from everyone I work with.
Scott, that small square is perfect to check if your table saw blade is at 90 degrees!
I am a joiner and i use it on buzzer
I’d put the little square in my key chain lol
looks like Rob knows good music. keep up the good content scott
Cameron is a toolfreak lol
Mean van bro
Super cool Scott, seeing you and Rob together is awesome, Cameron’s van setup is crazy nice👊🏽
Frank man it was a blast - I'm editing my version right now.
Hello, what kind of camera and lens you use,the video footage quality is very good
I’m happy that this popped up on my recommendation page :) cool to find a youtuber who makes his content out of his day to day job
Apologies if I have missed the post - what is the brand of the multiple draws you have in the van, with the green lock?
How do you tell the ink lines stright?
Do it for the tools!
Let me know how that ink line works. I’ve seen those but never tried one.
The Crazy Framer omg the legend himself 🤣🤣🤣🤓🤓🤓🤓hi big fan
Will do bro!
that van tour was pure pornography. props to the wee man.
I can't recall Cameron's you tube, I think I heard you mention it before- with that rig he must be into some serious contracts?
Holy shit! So much Scott brown content in the last few days! love it
Even Lvl lintels do we have to forget about hard packers?? Thanks
Sweet to see my two favourite kiwi youtube channels in one video.
Best comment I've seen all day 👍😁🇳🇿
@@TakamiWoodshop haha cheers for the reply! You deserve a lot more subscribers than you've got as your content is a lot better than some woodworking channels with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Think UA-cam must forget about you kiwis tucked down there at the bottom of the world! 😉 You've got a loyal subscriber here in England though Pal. 👍🏻
@@joey10-49 Thank you mate - really appreciate it! 👍🙏🏻
Cameron's van was out there, OCD builder! He must have put a lot of thought into that setup, but do you really need that many pencils... That van is an art piece. How about this, The Scott Brown Carpentry Best Tradies Van NZ 2019.
Put Paerau on the BBQ.
bunning63 yeah I recon the SBC van setup is the best for a Hiace cause you can put a sheet of ply in it and still access your tools , also people can't see your tools under the platform
From the thumbnail I assumed he was stealing from Cameron’s van 😂😂
If you don't know what the baby square is for, then the answer is that throw your hand chisels away when you need to sharpen them and buy a new ones. It major role is to ensure that when you sharpen a chisel the blade is square a the face. If it is not square, then the blade will naturally dig into the wood first on the side that is proud and cause your chisel not the cut in a straight line.
What do you make of that red Hultafors pencil Scott? Been thinking of one myself but haven't been able to find a decent review
A few days in, So far so good
That van was amazing.
Hey Scott I love the shinwa jr tough line maker it’s really do I live in japan and do metal and wood work you can buy a magnet and pin end for it so you can use it for metal sheets really handy
That was very cool!!❤️😎
Is the ink better than chalk?
Thanks for the love guys
Love it man!
That van looks absolutely mint
How did a swedish pencil (hultafors) got to you in NZ? 😃
That van set up , I need that in my life
Scott, does the inkline stain through the paint on the drywall?
Yeah the black ink will. They sell some white ink for dry wall
Cool van set up.
I've seen a Festool sign written ute up north once. I've only seen a few items in tool review videos. We get the Hilti rep come up here a lot now.
Wo. That van tho
Do all builders have the same model of work van in New Zealand?
german serratos Not all but , id say it's very popular
Yeah that's true, probably the most popular work van. A lot of builders drive work trucks though
The "pointless" little square is the ideal tool to double check chisel and hand plane blade edges when sharpening....anything larger is awkward in comparison.
Hey scot. always wonderd, Why dont you have some sort of advertisment for your company on the car? its the cheapest form of advertisment ?
We've always got our work via word of mouth, I've never had signwriting. I might do it in the future though, looks pretty pro
That van though, holy smokes!
Oh that little square is not pointless if it’s a 3 inch it stays in my pouch I use it for marking reveals transferring lines you will be surprised how often you use it if you have it in your pouch
I need an inkline in my life
Scott, Please give us a quick review on the ink line! The pros and the cons, I think I want one.. chalk lines are such a pain.. 😂
If you get ink on your hands/timber it's not as easy to remove as chalk, that's my two penny contribution. Still prefer chalk lines
The white would be awesome. I only like white chalk looking out for the painters.
Tajima do 1 aswell
🤔 I guess.. I would like to know how often you need to re-ink the lines though.. recalling your line every three flicks can be annoying if you have a whole wall to ping for weather boards
ocd Cameron 😆
Hi Scott, love the videos keep up the amazing work you do. Would you ever get a van that size and kit it out like that?
Maybe! Need to find somewhere to park it first 😎
That van fit out is awesome
Scott, let's get a proper tour in the next couple of episodes of master P's Van man. looks like we need to see a little more. that was just enough for a chubby.
Great vid as usual scott 👍🏼
sickkkk
6:18 - about 10,000 people just reached for their phones!
Never failed an inspection for wood or plastic packers. Maybe for a concrete tile roof but the architect or engineer should account for lintel size and load. You want hard packers so the jamb doesn't move under abnormal damp conditions. but that's just me!
Scott the ink chalklines are great but you can get ink splatter when you snap. Plus the inks are permanent so be careful on finished pieces.
Cheers
Curt
More of that van scott! We could all watch a whole episode on that!
Damn dude, you got past those hilti cases and didn't even stop?
Sweet video like always mate and GZ with the passing of the inspection! I wanted to comment on your last video but forgot unfortunately. The little square can be used for example in fine woodworking. On the topic of squares, I really like the bigger one you got. You spoil us with all your awesome videos, and we don't mind being spoiled by you :) Cheers from Holland
Thanks mate . I feel you can't have too many squares !
Amen to that!
Does Gaston have a website....asking for a friend if the wife aske's
Just put a link in the description for your friend
@@ScottBrownCarpentry cheers mate :)
The state of that guys van he must be very fussy with his finished work , I had a MK 1 Escort Van when I was building in Auckland and traded my Yankee screw driver in for a Makita 7.2 volt cordless drill it was the ducks nuts.
You guys in New Zealand must not have a problem with people breaking into you’re vans like we do in the uk or you wouldn’t be showing off you vans on UA-cam , that would be empty by the morning 😂😂
It is still a big problem down here.
👍👍👍👌❤️
