- Just some random thoughts and a correction. Charity Adams was the name of the lady that they renamed Ft. Lee after. She ended her military career as a Lt. Col. Fort Greeg-Adams is the base's new name.
I just got home from visiting my dad this afternoon. He lives about 40 minutes from me. I go 3 days a week. He’s 88 and lives by himself on a big piece of land. Today, he was sitting on his front porch visiting with a neighbor who had stopped by. I cooked daddy some pinto beans and cornbread. One of his favorite meals. I’m so thankful that I have these moments with him. It sure means a lot to me. You are doing good, Steve, spending time with your mom! 😊
A lot of the little things turn out to be big moments the older we get. A couple hours a few times a week will be a cherished memory. It's good for her and even better for me. Thanks and take care. Steve
Always ask mom questions you may have about the family and the past. I found once your family is gone so.are the answers! Good job staying close to mom. I did the same til my mom's last day. It became very time consuming the last year for my wife and I but to this day, I would have never have done it any other way. Mom's wish was to die at home and not to be cremated and that's what we made sure happen. She was 96. I think of mom and dad daily. I know I cared for them like they cared for me, and that is a heart warming feeling to me in my later life.Keep the posts coming Steve, really enjoy following all your endeavors.
Yeah I've been doing exactly that. I've recently started having her write names on the back of all her old photos. I know most of the people and places but it could be a big help to all her grandkids later. Both mom and dad were pretty free with old stories and family from back in the day. It's just info that will be lost when she goes if it's not written or told. Thanks for the reminder. Take care. Steve

They are ain't they. Good food and good times.I saw a video of yours talking about visiting your mom. 7 hours is a pretty good little drive at least in retirement you'll have the time to spend a little more with her. Fortunately most of our family are real close by. My sister, both kids and mom are just minutes away. My wife has a brother and sister in S.C. we don't get there like we used to but it's only about 4hrs. Take care and thanks for watching. Steve

Same here. I don't care what they renamed them. They will always be Ft. Lee, John Tyler and Jeff Davis to me. That whole time was just a big joke.They think changing the name or removing the statues actually makes a difference and changes things. Exactly how we got to all the pronouns and mess. Thanks. Steve
