You guys are by far the best tutorial site on here! I'm exclusively a pike guy, but want to branch out. One video and i'm confident to target perch and not blank. Thank You!
I’ve always done trout and bass fishing but you really got me into carp fishing they’re some of the hardest fighting fish ever I’ve only gone 5 times but my biggest is 8.5 pounds but without your help I probably would’ve never gotten one love your tutorials keep up the good work!.
An excellent tutorial I can not wait to put these tips in too practice just brought a prism x 5-21g lure set up its tip is super responsive so should be excellent for both dropshot and soft plastic retrieval thanks lads 😀👍👍😉
Really useful. I’ve not fished in years and I live near Manchester City centre so the canals are the only thing easily accessible to me. Can’t wait to try drop shot for the first time, I’ve only ever done float previously.
Another top video guys ..... brilliant fishing and some lovely fish and well illustrated to ... ideal for me as learning all the time ... anyways I’m in search of some stripeys tomorrow ... in fact if catch just one I will be well chuffed as I’m going somewhere I’ve never been to ... the Lake District !! ... wellies and thermals at the ready 😀😀🎣🎣
Thank you so much, in fact I literally went perch fishing just after you uploaded the video so I finally caught one. They were only 3 pounders but and 4 but still you have taught me to be able to catch one, thank you so much and have a great day.
Just started fishing again since my childhood and I'd like to know how to determine where and how to find the surest perch spots. Haven't caught single one this season which makes me a bit sad since perch is supposed to be the most common species around where I live. Any tips on that? And other species as well for that matter. Boat would probably be great to reach more spots, sadly I don't have one, at least yet. Also, great video! Thanks for taking the time to make this!
Hi great video just couple questions 1 can you use same rod for drop shot and jig fishing ? And 2 for fishing venues similar to where you did and with chance of hooking pike to low doubles what kind of casting weight am I looking for in a rod please? Thanks
Hey, any chance you can show the knot you used for the dropshot rig on your knots playlist as it's own video? Too difficult to see the fluro to be able to figure it out fro. This video. Excellent work though, keep it up!
Great video. I'm interested in trying dropshotting, but the lakes I fish have plenty of pike. Should I still use fluro? Is it possible to make a dropshot rig using wire?
This helped so much and i have a wuestion that is probably bot gonna be answered but whats the rod and casting weight that alex was using looks cool thanks 👍
What kind of landing net is that? I’m looking for a smaller one like that. Great job on the video once again, here in the states some of us use crayfish or small salad shrimp from the grocery store for perch.
Great video, I’ve noticed in the uk canals these days I’m only catching very small perch, as of 10 years ago I used to catch ones much bigger, is this down to cormorants you think? 🧐
Hi guys, please help me. I tried drop shotting and like you say, it was incredible for Perch! My problem is that I get a lot of deep/gut hooked results. Can I still use a disgorger to unhook in this instance or will the softbait get in the way? Also, to clarify, it's cast and retrieve like a spinner but slow? A little retrieve to remove slack, a little wiggle, a little retrieve, a little wiggle? I'm not sure if I'm just lucky or if I have good technique... Thanks!
i used glue on my paddle tale and it made the eye fall of and when i casted and brought it back my pike had riped the hook so it was bearly useable any tips?
I am very curious to know if that is a different sub species of yellow perch that is found in North America. The world record Yellow Perch is 4LB 12ozs caught in 1924 in New York. I personally have caught 2 lbers here in Michigan but they are rare. A 13"-16" 1.5-2.5 lb is considered a big perch. There are a few western lakes like Devil's lake N.D that produce 3-3.5 lbers regularly. That lake has a huge forage base of fresh water shrimp and minnows as well. I have seen videos of 7 lb perch caught overseas. I would appreciate if you could give any info on this matter.
These are the same family as your yellow perch but a different species. The family has just the two species; the yellow perch (perca flavescans) in North America and the Eurasian perch (perch fluviatilis). Our perch go up to around 7 or 8lb max whereas yellow perch go to about 4lb. 👍
Your red perch strategies do work on our yellow perch but live bait and fresh shrimp pieces on jigs work best. There isn't a perch family species, walleye, perch, Zander, sauger, that don't taste amazing.
Am I going mad or have you guys removed your camera equipment list 🤔 my question was, what drone do you guys use, picture quality is superb, contributing to the already great content 🙌🏼
I feel like a lot of it is timing. Striking quicker and harder as soon as you feel a bite can help prevent the fish swallowing the lure? I'm not quite a beginner but not as experienced as these lads but I've caught enough Perch to know they're buggers for swallowing tackle. Hope this helps somewhat :)
If you nosehook the lure it should be quite difficult for perch to get hooked in any other place than the mouth, especially if the hook is exposed enough

Hey man great video. What's the story with drop shotting with a wire trace? Have pike and perch in lake nearby.
Palomar knot is the correct knot for the drop shot rig very easy as well ...dont know what you used but it wasn't very easy

No

what lures are those in the video
What size rod length are you using chaps?
An 8ft rod for lure fishing is great
What the name of the knot for the drop shot rig?
Is this in ashford
so the dropshot is only pinched in ? no knot at all ?
It kinda beds down with a knot above and below the hook! :) Tricky knot, but a good one!
