    ****26 Jan 2022 Update****
Was called by Yolink tech support today and they walked me through the factory reset procedure. Once all of the sensors were reset, they were able to be paired and are working properly. They provided me a link to documentation on factory reset and other settings here: www.yosmart.com/support/YS7903-UC/docs/instruction. They did confirm there was a firmware update around the time my sensors stopped working. Great Support!

Found a work around for the valve not closing with the self-contained sensor. Using Alexia created a routine as a switch under smart devices, and when the sensor triggers, Alexia does the action of closing the valve and announces it is closing. Like in the video, firmware no help.

@@CyberMedics yes I was told I am at the latest firmware multiple times, I too still believe it is a firmware issue, but until I correct that, the work around is protecting me, love the product, and this feature is on so important to me, 6 1/2 bathrooms, 7000 sq ft, on a deep well, so you can see why the shut off is a major must. A plus is that running it through Alexia, it allows me to be able to voice command the valve closed or open.

@@TerryTabor-kv3nz You may have to factory reset the sensor to disconnect it from the valve then directly pair it again. The problem was, if the hub was off for a period of time (varied from 1-4 weeks) the sensor would lose connection to the valve. After you factor reset the sensor, then direct pair with the valve again. Disconnect the hub for a period of time to see if the sensor stays directly connected the valve. This worked for us. I was thinking about using the Yolink sensor (the one without probe) to control a yolink power-plug🤔, can I do that ? or does the sensor only connect/work with the shut off valve ( I have a flood and drain hydroponic system I would like to use the sensor to cut off a water pump once the area reaches desired flood level and Sensor is triggered,
Maybe I can position the sensor on top a couple pennies with a weight on top to create the flood level desired, the weight so the sensor won’t float off, or maybe I can tape it down on top of the pennies or etc, either or I’m sure you get the picture?
So my initial question is does the Yolink water sensor work with the Yoink electric plugs/ turn the plug off in “Action or behavior “ once triggered?

My soil I amend with dry amendment 1 tablespoon per gallon of soil once a month, I grow in 5 gallon - 10 fabric pots. All I have to do is water from the beginning of the month till the end. ( no mixing Nutz not unless I’m trying to do the extras for extra results) ,
At end of month or 30 days from feeding amendments I reapply them and start all over again just water so this system would work perfect for my grow, just feed the plants in the beginning of the month. A year back, the Yolink owner and I had a long conversation about their company converting over to the agriculture industry . He told me he never thought about it ( I was like why not, Yolink already has tons of gadgets that can be used in the industry) ,,,,
Because of our conversation, Yolink is now about to release a CO2 sensor (a year in the making) that can control a Yolink power plug for CO2 applications within the agriculture industry 😊, so they definitely want updates on my project ( after they finish the CO2 sensor, he called me and asked me so now was next on Yolink agenda? I told him a LM301H diode = Bugatti of the leds, LED Grow light, a irrigation system, a P.H meter and PPM/EC meter) He said he’s on it..

It could be factory reset & then it would work. But after a week or more of leaving the contact sensors unplugged the contact sensors again would become unpaired from the devices. I spent weeks directly working with Yolink following there step by step guidance testing various firmware versions. One of the firmware versions had this flaw: If the hub was disconnected for a period of time, the contact sensors would become unpaired. Confirm with them, but anything later than v0311 is OK. I've been dealing with them on this issue for years... literally. It was pretty obvious that it was a software issue... The sensor tells the app that there is a leak... but the valve controller isn't actuated. HOwever... you can manually open and close the valve controller with the app directly. There is a disconnect somewhere... and they said they needed to revise the software. This was well over a year ago. I see nothing has really happened. I don't know if they have incompetent programmers or they just don't have the necessary skills to address it. I'll keep checking in to see if they ever fix it tor not. Right now I'm not very hopeful. It sucks when you spend a total of about $800 for sensors, valve controllers bring in power to the valve controller etc. etc. Then when its done it doesn't work. This would be an awesome system if it actually did what its supposed to do. They are a VERY disappointing company. If your concern is having your house flooded while you are away this would be your best option if it worked.

ok. Is someone going to address the elephant in the room? if you use a hub to manage the sensors and valve controller based on rules (eg. if water leak detected then shut off valve) you set up in the mobile app, these rules are not resident locally on the hub but rather are maintained on a server in the cloud. So what happens if a leak is detected and your internet connection is down, or the power to your hub/router fails? ??? Anyone want to venture a guess? The rule will not be executed! Yolink needs a smart hub that maintains the rules locally so there are no dependencies on internet connection... Yes I know you can skip the hub and link sensors to the controller, but out goes the mobile app and management. please correct me if i am wrong. As far as the problem you describe, i have not had that problem as long as everything is linked up to hub, and the rules are set up using the app, and hub is connected to the internet.

      @CyberMedics  Рік тому

Great comment. After working directly with your yolink, they updated the firmware on the sensors they seem to be working flawlessly now. Once you pair them directly with the water valve you do not need the Hub or Internet and if water is detected it will definitely shut off the valve. I've tested this repeatedly over the last year and a half and have had complete success. It's one of the reasons I like yolink, you do not need internet or the Hub in order to protect from water water leaks.

Can you check the battery status or the state of the valve with an app? My impression is that this configuration sacrifices status and control. For example I cannot open and close the valve with an app but must rely on the valve controller mechanical switch. I like the programmable actions that the mobile app affords, but as I was saying , yolink really needs a hub that does not rely on the cloud to manage actions that have been programmed by the app. This dependency on a cloud server has me worried that the system is not reliable

My water leak sensor with the same firmware 030D still works fine. I have the same automatic valve you showed and it closed when tested and I got the notice on my phone and through Alexa. Not sure what could be wrong with yours except maybe you need to pair the sensor with the siren and valve if you haven't already done so?
UPDATE: Okay, it's 45 minutes later. After some experimentation, I was able to replicate the same behavior you have. I'm fairly certain it's the pairing process that stopped yours from working.
I have two valves and one non-probe leak sensor. The sensor was paired with only one of the valves--has worked fine since day one. After watching your issue, I decided to pair the leak sensor with the second valve I have. It paired normally with the second valve but then the first valve was no longer paired. I kept trying to pair the sensor with the original valve but it just wouldn't work with it again. It only worked with the second valve. This leads me to believe you can only have the sensor paired with one valve. (I assume you can probably can have multiple sensors paired with one valve but I only have one sensor.)
Since I wanted the sensor paired with my original valve, I had to go through the pairing process again with the second valve even though it was already paired. This seemed to un-pair them. Next I paired the sensor back to the original valve and it worked. I'm never going to touch them again :)
So, perhaps you had paired your non-probe leak sensor to another device and it lost its original pairing with the siren and valve?

@@davest123va just reread your post about never touching the sensors again. I got a chuckle out of that and totally understand. Don't think I completely followed how you were able to unpair the sensor from the second valve to reset it back to the first valve.

@@CyberMedics Depending on the original pairing state, you will either pair or un-pair them directly by doing this:
      1. Hold the Set button on the leak sensor until it flashes green--then let go.
      2. Hold the Set button on the valve until it blinks green--then let go. They will both stop flashing green.
Then I did the same procedure to pair the sensor and my original valve to pair them again.
Note I did not setup any Automation in the app--I just paired the devices directly without using the app.
If you continue to hold the Set button while it's flashing green (don't let go, continue holding for maybe 30 seconds) it will eventually flash red once. I don't know what this indicates. It didn't change the pairing state of my devices.

@@davest123va Have followed that procedure multiple times. The flashing green light goes off on both devices as though they are paired. Result always the same....alerts in the app, but doesn't communicate with the siren or the valve.
At least the problem is consistent. I can pair each probe sensor independent of the app and it communicates successfully with the valve and the siren. Every contact sensor paired independent of the app does not work with the siren or the valve. Grateful for all the input. Will reach out to yolink support again to see what they recommend.

    Hello Queenie,
I do appreciate you reaching out to me. I am intimately aware of how to pair the devices. Please see this video, that I produced on your product: ua-cam.com/video/-wtSk3Pze1A/v-deo.html. I would encourage you to use this video, because it clearly demonstrates how to pair the devices, while promoting Yolink products.
Your input did not address my issue:
This contact sensor no longer communicates with the Water Valve or Siren. It alerts in the app, when water is detected, but will not open/close the valve or activate the siren. I have 3 of these sensors with the same issue. All were all purchased at the same time. This problem started approximately one month ago. Prior to that the contact sensor was functioning correctly.
Please advise on how to get this resolved.
    Rick

    Hi Rick,
Thank you for contacting us and for using YoLink products.
I checked the data, this sensor did not set up YoLink Control successfully.
When you direct pair them, the valve controller should be in closed state, then hold the set button on the leak sensor for 5 seconds until green LED blink, next hold the set button on the valve controller for 5 seconds until green LED blink.
After pairing, turn on the valve controller, put the sensor in the water to have a test.
To unpair them, the easiest way is to factory reset the water leak sensor, hold the set button on the leak sensor for 25 seconds until green LED & red LED blink, then wait for several seconds, press the set button to activate the sensor again.
    Please see attached videos.
    Hope that helps,
Let me know if you have any questions or need anything else!
    All the best,
