Is it possible the bit locker key was stored in a password vault or safety deposit box? Without access to the Bitlocker key you will not decrypt drive.

@@Kmj.5 so you turned Blocker off? Be aware at some future system update or making use of some future Microsoft service could activate Blocker on your computer again.

@@CyberMedics I used the code I found on my Microsoft account and it unlocked... Then I turned it off, so when it turns itself on again, will the key change or it remains the same.

The key will remain the same as long as the Microsoft account associated with the computer does not change. You are using a MS account to log into the computer?

You have to try until it says too many failed attempts. Have you done that.

They are asking about a code sent to your lost email, phone, backup email? If you don’t have access to you will have to guess at the code. Keep repeating the process.

Using a previously authenticated device and previously used Wi-Fi to access the account will increase your chances of recovering Account. In our Gmail Recovery email we have an aggregated list of suggestions in the pin comment and the video description.

First make sure you have a backup of your data. We typically recommend putting it on the cloud and having local copy. After that, yes I’d turn it on and get the keys. You cannot predict at some future date when it will be turned on. You may want to store these keys securely on an encrypted drive or in your password vault.

I have everything backed to external drives. I found out that Windows 10 home edition doesn't offer Bitlocker,so I guess I'm safe from the bug. I also read that on Aug. 13th Mucrosoft issued a patch to fix the problem. Things are good on my end but I do plan to upgrade to Windows 11 eventually and will be sure to write down the recovery keys. Thanks so much for answering my concerns. @CyberMedics

Understand. If you secure your Gmail account with a HW key and generate backup codes the account is as secure as any other mail provider, as long as you don’t give the account open to a hacker.

Passkeys do not require the use of biometric information.

Are you by chance using an iPhone?

Yes I am on the iPhone and I have my email and password but it keeps sender by me a two digit number and says open my gmail to verify it’s me….. but this is the phone im trying to login to

@@DouglassHarvell-p3p I am presuming that you are not using the Gmail application downloaded from the App Store? If you’re using Apples built-in email application to access your Gmail account it is not the same thing. Often will not show you as authenticated, even though previously you were logged into the account.

No I am …… my phone got factory reset but I have the same number I recently changed WiFi connection since I’m at work…… maybe this is why they don’t think it’s me trying to login?!

Yes. Changing the login environment can trigger Google account security check.

The answer is yes. It’s sending the code to the Gmail account trying to recover because you don’t have a back up recovery email on the account. Even though you don’t know the code it’s sending you have to guess the code. Keep trying to process until it says too many failed attempts then wait one to three days and try again. Don’t think the Authenticator code is going to help you get into the account if you don’t know the password. The authentication code is a second factor authentication in addition to your password. You will have to go through the account recovery process to recover the account.

@@CyberMedics Whatever is forced on me. Filing taxes digitally is a nightmare. It takes at least 10 minutes to get in with the second, third and fourth factor required.

Some sort of update must have triggered the Blocker encryption to be activated. This could be a bio update or operating system update or any change in Hardware. I just checked my system. And the keys are the same from the command prompt & the MS account. Also validate you are looking at the correct MS account, in case you have more than one.

Are you saying that he cannot access his Gmail account because the code is going to the Gmail account that he’s trying to recover? If this is the case during the recovery process, you will just have to guess that the code another alternative is to use find my phone and try to locate the iPhone.

lol. wish it were that simple. Any configuration changes on the PC system can cause Blocker to be activated. Have you had any direct experience with Blocker good or bad?

This video is demonstrating how to put a pass key on the phone so that you can access Bitwarden via the web with a pass key that is stored on the phone. Are you trying to use the iPhone as a pass key to access Bitwarden on the web?

@@CyberMedics yes correct im trying to put a bitwarden passkey in my bitwarden app or iphone passkeys app to make it easier to access bitwarden on the PC without having to enter my master password

@@AdaamVee when you say on your PC, you mean through a browser on the web, correct. The last time I checked, you cannot use a passkey on the application for the PC or on the extension for the browser.

Make a copy of the key that is currently in the Microsoft account. Then I would delete the key out of the account, emphasizing again that you make a copy of that key and have it someplace safe. Once you reenable Bitlocker it should store a new key on the account & it should be the same key generated by the Bitlocker command on the system. Please update us.

Normally, Google delete accounts after they’ve been dormant for two years. The only thing you could do is try the Account recovery process.

Every recovery process can be different. Be sure to answer every question even if you have to guess. Vary the recovery process if possible.

There is a timestamp to recycle bin on the web OneDrive account. It keeps in historical copy at least for 30 days of any files that have been deleted. Have you checked there?

@@CyberMedics Thanks for your reply. Well, when I was deleting the files in Onedrive, a message popped up saying something like "Recycle bin full. Do you want to permanently delete the remaining files?" And I clicked yes thinking my Local drive wouldn't be affected. I just got an email from Microsoft. Here is what they told me. I'm crushed because I had years of stuff on my Desktop From Microsoft: We appreciate your valuable response. We hope you are doing great! We would like to inform you that OneDrive is designed in such a way that when you delete an item from OneDrive, it goes to the Recycle bin of the account and stays there for 30 days. Items in the Recycle bin are automatically deleted in 30 days. Also, if you delete them from Recycle bin within these 30 days after they are put there, unfortunately, again, the files/folders are purged from our servers. It means that they are permanently deleted and are unrecoverable. In your case, since you agreed to the prompt, ““Recycle Bin Full. Do you want to permanently delete the remaining files?”, we are afraid, they have been permanently deleted from OneDrive and sadly, there are no other ways to restore them back. It is very hard for us to inform you that, the answer to your question is no. If you have deleted them from recycle bin of OneDrive, unfortunately it cannot be recovered.

@@jasonlara only other option is to use drive recovery software. The information is still on the local hard drive, but it may be hard to recover. It may be worth pursuing that if there’s particular items that you want. we don’t have any particular recommendation on Drive recovery software. Sorry this happened to you. Microsoft should not be moving information off of peoples computers to the cloud. It is a poor implementation of cloud back up.

@@CyberMedics I used Microsoft File Recovery and got excited because it started listing all these "Recovered Files." 11,993 to be exact. It took two days because I had to keep entering a response every once in a while. Well, after the filers were "Recovered" to my external drive, I moved them to my desk top. The files are there with the names I gave them, but won't open. My PC says "Formal not supported" even though the extensions are ".jpg" and other very common ones. I think I must accept that they are gone forever. Very disappointed. But I really appreciate your time to reply with options. Thank you.

Sorry for the late reply. Have you tired using an other file recovery software on the recovered files? Mabey a different program would have different results. Worth trying.
