Versatile bag, and great review. You have converted me to the pouch method. Now when I'm going out, depending on what I'm doing, I just grab the corresponding pouches. So much easier. Thanks for the video, and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Hatch61 The pouch life really is the way to live. lol I have a video coming soon that will bring your pouch organization to a new level. Merry Christmas to you and yours my friend. I hope all is well.
Amazing video. Very thorough. The one question I couldn't get an answer to was would the long front pockets hold a water bottle. Well, you showed that which I am grateful for. I now have a great sense of this pack. Thank you.
Great review Tim. That location seems a fantastic place to hike. Some terrific features on that bag. Love the side grab handle and why has no one given us adjustable compression straps before ? Brilliant idea. Keep 'em coming my friend.
Hi Tim, Happy new year. Great vid as always. love this Tactix pack. in fact. i always trust your reviews on lots of my gear. i was super close to actually going with this first tactical pack. but the one that i chose over it . i think you will actually love. it was very hard as both these packs are so close but there were some features that made me like my choice just a bit more. I went with the Direc ACtion Dragon Egg vers. 2 or Mark 2 whatever they call it. Although i must admit. the double handle and dual side and top handles on this Tactix had me looking back a couple times. Thanks Again Tim.
john anderson I've heard nothing but good things about Direct Action, never had the opportunity to review anything as of yet, maybe in the future. As always I appreciate you taking the time to watch.
Thanks Tim, you doing a review comparison of the Tactix pack versus the Dragon Egg. and how you use pouches to organize and store your gear. would love to see that. future.
john anderson Anything is possible. I have bunch of Vanquest and 5.11 products to review over the next couple months. A handful of flashlight reviews that need to be completed as well. Gonna do my best to make 2017 the best year my channel has ever had, lots of plans.
I've watched this video a few times, as I've been comparing the First Tactical Tactix 1 Day Plus to 5.11's Rush 24, and Direct Actions Ghost packs. I'm thinking First Tactical wins here. 5.11's Rush is nice, but i like the concept of the laser cut PALS/MOLLE . But head to head with the First Tactical and Direct Action, i think you sold me on First Tactical. Thanks again for the review, helped alot in a difficult situation on what pack to choose. Subscribed.
Nice review, Tim. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Wife and I have been doing some short hiking last couple of days. Looking forward to your next one.
Thank you for watching John, much appreciated. Merry Christmas to you and yours. I did have some plans for a nice winter hike this coming weekend, but they are saying we're going to have a lot of rain along with the snow so we'll see. I love hiking in the snow and even in the rain but my camera does not. lol
That is fantastic, it's a pity I live in the UK as we get hammered with import tax plus the shipping is very expensive but I would love. One. I have done reviews for Maxpedition and onetigris packs and bags, but this looks right up my street. Thanks for the videoPaul
51foxy If you like Maxpedition you'll love this pack. That's too bad that everything is too expensive to get it to you, I imagine it limits the gear options for you. Thank you for watching.
I haven't seen any reviews on First Tactical packs so thanks. That being said this thing looks very bad ass. Plenty of pockets, and organization. I never understood the whole pack measuring system; I mean 40+ liters, damn that is huge to me, I currently use a pack just under 30 liters for 2 day trips, so I 40 liter I could take on a 4 day trip. This video has got me ready to purchase one of these. Nice Job
J Smitty I guess it all comes down to how well you pack and organize your gear. And of course with all the PALS webbing you can carry lots of gear on the outside as well. First Tactical is a young company, under 2 years I think so that may have something to do with there not being many reviews, they make great gear so I hope to do some more reviews for them. Thank you for stopping by and watching, I really appreciate it.
Yea organizing your pack has a lot to do with it. I also believe people tend to over pack for 1-2 day trips. I own some first tactical gear and it is high quality gear. I prefer USA made gear but there stuff is great. q
Great review Tim, can't wait to see this. I've just got one in OD from Amazon as well, but unfortunately my pack is a defective one. Merry Christmas to you and yours lovers
Great review video and I’ve watched several of your videos multiple times and love them. I quite like First Tactical backpack and I’m researching it for the purpose of one-bag travel backpack, but it doesn’t seem to have a solution to put water bottle other than adding an external pouch?
Mostly Day Hiking It's definitely comparable to 5.11 and much better than Maxped I'm not a fan of Maxpedition, I used to be but after seeing what other companies are doing and doing so much better than Maxped I've lost interest.
Great video! I'm trying to make this my all around bag. a lot of reviewers are saying that the Rifle bag pocket can be used to store a laptop. Do you think it would be secure enough? If fully packed with books or gear, do you think the laptop would be pressed onto the metal rods in the removable frame?
Sergio Rodriguez I plan on getting this pack and will be using that section as a laptop holder as well. You can probably tie off zipper to make sure it doesn't open. Think I'm going to do that. Going to add a padded laptop sleeve as well.
I already bought the bag and have been using the rifle compartment for my laptop. the padding is great (except in the bottom). I cut up a piece of a yoga mat to fit the bottom of the compartment. between that and the rain cover I added in the hidden bottom pocket, My laptop has been very secure. I love this bag. Highly versatile and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an all around bag. Im also considering removing the metal pieces meant for the rifle bag since they tend to get in the way and are honestly pretty annoying.
I’m not a fan of Maxpedition, was way back in the day but not anymore. I’d take a backpack from First Tactical any day over a product from Maxpedition.
I honestly don't know, but it's certainly a good addiction to have. Maybe it's like we just feel the need to have a place for all our gear, the more gear you have the more packs you need. Maybe? Either way, it's not a habit I'm going to kick anytime soon. lol
I'm currently using the Mobius 2.0 from Vanquest, I alternate between that and the RUSH12 and I'm currently giving the 12 a break. First Tactical makes great gear, their packs are fantastic quality but I'm really happy with the 12 so at the moment I wouldn't.
Either one would serve you well, they are about the same quality and the price isn't too far off. It would come down to features, which one do you feel will fill your needs? I love the Sandstone from 5.11, I'm not feeling the tan/coyote brown color from First Tactical.
Hello Friend, I decided for the First Tactical Specialist Half - Day in black, the decision was difficult, in the store they had the 2 models, the color sand in the Tactical 5.11 if it was incredible, but good to enjoy the chosen one. Good videos, I've seen them every time I want to buy something I need because they serve me, the video Letherman Wingman save my ass !!!, but you have made a video where you show some Letherman or Swiss army? Regards !!
This pack has everything I want to have on a pack. Finally, a bag thats comparable and maybe better than a 5.11.
Thanks for the review. I actually own one but I've never figured out how to remove the compression straps.
The owner of 511 sold the company and then started first tactical! That’s really cool!
Are you sure about that?
@@GearReviewDepot Yes.. multiple interviews on youtube. Search Dan Costa 511 & first tactical. He tells the story of why and how he started them.
Did you ever see the videos? It made me love First tactical a lot more.
that's a really cool bag. Love the side grab handles and laser-cut molle. I might have to get that on the channel. Thanks Tim.
Just got my Tactix pack today.
It's awesome, it kinda makes 5.11 rush packs look like mere prototypes!
jesphx1 Great pack for sure!
You're crazy

5 Angels I agree. I really like the fact that I can move them up or down as I need, or remove them completely if I wish. Thank you for watching.

Thank you Aaron! I appreciate you taking the time to watch. It's a great pack for sure.

Thank you for watching Buzz! Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Merry Christmas to you and yours lovers
Xuan Hung Hoang Thank you my friend for watching, much appreciated. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well. Be safe out there.

BRAVO 👏, well said, is it the same size as the 511tactical RUSH 24?
SUNCHIP2007 This pack is 38.8 liters and the RUSH24 is 37 liters, but honestly laying them down side by side they seem to be the exact size.
Like the Pack and your review. only problem I have is it doesn't appear to be H2O bladder compatible.
Was there a sleeve for a laptop or water bag?
Yes, there was.
Have you ever washed your bag? Care instructions says no but I wanted to do so. Looking for opinion from other owners. Thanks
I haven’t. Didn’t have it long enough to need to. I’d spot clean it with soapy water and a wash cloth or sponge.
Thanks for the informative review.
Pika817 Thank you for watching!
Hey Tim do you like this bag as much as your 511 and Maxpedition bags?
Mostly Day Hiking It's definitely comparable to 5.11 and much better than Maxped I'm not a fan of Maxpedition, I used to be but after seeing what other companies are doing and doing so much better than Maxped I've lost interest.
TheTacticalDefender Think this will replace your Rush 24 as your EDC bag?
Mostly Day Hiking No. The RUSH12 is my edc and it's staying.
Great video! I'm trying to make this my all around bag. a lot of reviewers are saying that the Rifle bag pocket can be used to store a laptop. Do you think it would be secure enough? If fully packed with books or gear, do you think the laptop would be pressed onto the metal rods in the removable frame?
Sergio Rodriguez I think it would work well for that, just make sure the bottom zipper is closed so your laptop doesn't fall out.
***** hahaha will do!
Sergio Rodriguez I plan on getting this pack and will be using that section as a laptop holder as well. You can probably tie off zipper to make sure it doesn't open. Think I'm going to do that. Going to add a padded laptop sleeve as well.

Sergio Rodriguez That's great! I'm happy the pack is working out for you. Thank you for coming back and giving me an update. Be well and stay safe.
Hello Sir, how does this bag hold up after years of using it? Can it compare with maxpedition falcon 3? Thank you.
I’m not a fan of Maxpedition, was way back in the day but not anymore. I’d take a backpack from First Tactical any day over a product from Maxpedition.
@@GearReviewDepot thank you Sir.
Thats a nice pack.....I bought the 5.11 rush 12 &24 packs, any idea why packs are addictive? Stay Safe....Steve from Chicagoland.
I honestly don't know, but it's certainly a good addiction to have. Maybe it's like we just feel the need to have a place for all our gear, the more gear you have the more packs you need. Maybe? Either way, it's not a habit I'm going to kick anytime soon. lol
is the 511 tactical rush 12 still your edc bag? would you use the half day version of this tactix bag over it?
I'm currently using the Mobius 2.0 from Vanquest, I alternate between that and the RUSH12 and I'm currently giving the 12 a break. First Tactical makes great gear, their packs are fantastic quality but I'm really happy with the 12 so at the moment I wouldn't.
Do you like this backpack or the rush 24 more?
It's a great pack for sure but if I could only have one, I'd go with the 24.
Thank you so much for the speedy reply
Is there a way to incorporate a laptop sleeve or is there a place to keep my 15 inch safe during military training?
M G Safe during every normal kind of day? Yes. Safe during military training? I'd say no. Highly unlikely.
This is the only review that I have seen where there's two detachable velcro mesh pouches, are they no longer included?
Would you say this works better than the rush 24?
Keitarious Williams No.
What color is this pack
Jack Trevino First Tactical refers to it as OD Green.
Hello Friend,
Which would you recommend me, Rush 12 or Specialist Half day, which would you choose?
Greetings.
Either one would serve you well, they are about the same quality and the price isn't too far off. It would come down to features, which one do you feel will fill your needs? I love the Sandstone from 5.11, I'm not feeling the tan/coyote brown color from First Tactical.
Hello Friend,
I decided for the First Tactical Specialist Half - Day in black, the decision was difficult, in the store they had the 2 models, the color sand in the Tactical 5.11 if it was incredible, but good to enjoy the chosen one.
Good videos, I've seen them every time I want to buy something I need because they serve me, the video Letherman Wingman save my ass !!!, but you have made a video where you show some Letherman or Swiss army?
Regards !!
I honestly don't know. There's a good chance they made some changes and decided to no longer include them.
I own this bag and a rush 24. The laser cut molle just feels cheap and if anything, probably makes it 25% weaker.
Looks cheap? Absolutely. Stronger? Certainly feels it.
Say laser cut pals ONE MORE TIME!
Laser cut PALS. 😁
Hi there is it normal? I bought a this back pack and even never used it and the shoulder foam is already wrinkled
hong keun Kim I'm not exactly sure what you mean by wrinkled but I'm sure if you contact First Tactical they'll help you out.
TheTacticalDefender if i can have your e-mail i can show you the picture of what i mean
