Not sure if someone ever mentioned this but nationality is not the same as race or ethnicity. Nationality is the country where you hold citizenship. I'm an American citizen but my ethnic heritage is Chinese and Norwegian. Just wanted to clarify. Love your videos!
LOVE the question about people of color. As a black girl, it makes me really sad that I have such slim opportunities for face characters because that is what I have wanted to do my entire life. I won't let that discourage me from auditioning though! I plan to start auditioning this summer, as I graduate in December and I would love to start working at WDW right afterwards. I'm planning on getting braids this summer as well and I'm a bit scared that that hairstyle will deter me from getting a role. Is that a legitimate concern to have?
Your hair definitely will not prevent you from getting a role! Most of the costuming for performer roles include wearing wigs so no worries there! And I agree with you, it's really sad. I could relate to so many different princesses growing up because they all looked like me. As a kid I never thought about how it's not like that for everyone. I think Disney is doing a better job of adding characters to include more performers (even by adding Elena and Moana a year or two ago) and I truly hope they continue to in the future!
oh thank you, good to know! I was scared that some would see it as "unprofessional." I'm so excited to see what characters of color Disney adds! It would be so so cool if you could start to meet the Blank Panther characters soon!
Do you sing or dance? What kind of character or role are you seeking.? They also hire for cruise ships and other parks all over. There is an audition for the cruise line coming up that specifies a preference for color. Check it! 😊
When I saw Wicked on Broadway in January I was thrilled the actress playing Glinda (Brittney Johnson) was black. Though how sad that it’s 2020 and we are just seeing these changes. We must do better as society. I will also share that Brittney Johnson is amazing.
Wait so if the character you were selected for wasn’t on the listing you responded to...how insanely excited were you when they started putting you in the costume/makeup during the last round of auditions and realized it was your dream character?!
BEYOND excited! I wanted to talk about that in the "My Disney Experience" video I made but I couldn't figure out how to explain everything while maintaining character integrity. When they went down the row telling the girls what costumes they would be put in I was the last person they told and I was the only one selected in that role. I literally FaceTimed my mom after everything and started sobbing! That moment alone was a complete dream come true.
For the person who asked where to meet Aladdin and Jasmine, they are often right outside fairytale hall where you can meet three princesses at a time. I️ hope they see this
I love your videos, thank you for this! I love how you answered the question about Ariel preferring being a human or mermaid haha. I've been to WDW twice (for high school band performances) and my one big regret is not meeting Ariel because she's my favorite character, so hopefully one day I will! If you're a kid or adult, it doesn't matter how old you are to meet your favorite characters.
@@mackenzhughesI love hour long videos so you can make them however long you want could you do accents and if you have which ones were they I currently am job searching now wish me luck on my looking for something
I can NEVER find info about being the Sally from Nightmare as a face character! If you could respond with any info you might know, that would be awesome! Xoxx
I love your videos! You’re so sweet and informative! On the villains being alive question, I asked Gaston once how he survived his 100 ft fall and he went into this long story about how he did a magnificent swan dive into the lake below. It was hilarious and amazing! So glad I found your channel and I can’t wait to see what you do next:)
I remember one time my 4 year old sister was walking away from Ariel and said loudly to my mom "Wow her tail almost looked actually real!" and we just stared in shock lmaoo
The question about people of color not being cast made me tear up! There was recently an audition for Jasmine, Poca, and Tiana and a lot of the girls were Caucasian. It’s always a little discouraging to see them make it over POC (but that’s not saying I am not happy for them, because I 100% am!). I completely agree with your answer. Disney has done so well in incorporating so many more ethnicities/races in their characters in the past decade and I hope they decide to cast performers of the same ethnicity/race soon.
Thank you for answering my question, a lot of people would've avoided talking about it so I really do appreciate it. I love you, and your videos. You are a beacon of positivity, and I really admire you. X have a great day!
anightmarebeforechristmas I honestly almost didn’t because I know with that you’re kinda damned if you do damned if you don’t. I do think it’s something that should definitely be discussed though! I would see some performers have role combos like Snow White and Jasmine and that just doesn’t make sense to me. I know I have zero knowledge or influence when it comes to casting, but I think they should hire more performers that fit those nationalities. I will say its not all of the performers, like I would say it’s maybe 50/50 from what I see now and it used to be worse. I do hope they’re getting better at it but you’re right, it should be addressed! Thank you for having the courage to ask the question in the first place 💗
girl youre makeup!! you are beyond stunning and your makeup skills are amazing! not to mention your voice is so soothing and your smile is so beautiful. I can see why you hung out with princesses!
You are so nice, thank you so much! I try really hard to speak slowly and clearly (as best I can) because I normally talk super fast and sometimes slur my words together. So thank you, that's a huge compliment! I've tried really hard to be better and more intentional about it! 😊
Nope, we don't don't see villains dying, we see them falling...or see Scar getting jumped on by hyenas..or see Rapunzel's witch caretaker turn very old, fall form a tower and turn to dust.. xD
I have never thought about the villain thing omg that makes so much sense!! I've always wondered why they're still at Disney even if they died, but what you said makes so much sense. My mind is blown lol Also, I can't stop looking at your makeup, it's so gorgeous. I cried when I met Cinderella because I had been waiting pretty much since I was two, so about 16 years. Cinderella asked me what my birthday wish was and I told her it was to meet her and I swear she almost cried as well! For ages, I've been debating the program because I suffer from anxiety and the thing you said about your anxiety not being super prevalent when you're working honestly just boosted my confidence a million times. I was so worried about my anxiety getting in the way, that's the only thing stopping me. I would LOVE to be a character attendant and to be on the program, so here's hoping
It literally popped into my head as I thought about the question, but it's so true! Luckily I was never put on the spot with that question, but if you really think about it we don't see them die! And your Cinderella story is so sweet! I always tell people that these characters aren't strangers to us, they're like family we've grown up with and so it makes total sense for us to be emotional meeting them! I will be 100% honest, there were days where I still felt anxious and depressed. Being there won't completely cure it. BUT I feel like being in the sunshine and truly loving my job helped my anxiety so much! I think if you love Disney you can't help but love your job and that will just boost your mood so much! I hope you get to do the program! Worst case - if you get there and you realize it's not for you then you can always end your program early!
Great questions! I love hearing the insights from your performer perspective, we as guests don´t get to know how it´s like for you working with a charachter very often, very interesting video!
I always remember the characters I met being SO GOOD at making it more believable. When I was at Disney world as a kid I asked tinker bell to fly, and she said something like “this room is a little small for me to fly in, I’d need more space to fly! I also wouldn’t wanna get all my pixie dust everywhere!”
Ashley you are so nice!! Thank you so much! I really enjoy making different types of videos so it makes me happy knowing other people enjoy watching them too ☺️
You're amazing! Your videos are always so much fun. Thank you for the shout out you're so sweet. It's funny that you mentioned villains because when I was growing up I was obsessed with villains which annoyed my mom. I loved hades and maleficent and the wicked witch of the west. When I was in kindergarten I wanted to be Merriweather because she liked blue so my mom had to turn my wicked witch costume into a blue Merriweather costume. I wish they would do hunchback characters and Hercules characters at Disney they are two of my favorite Disney films. Or princess diaries or Enchanted. And if they make a third princess diaries film that would be amazing! We're about 50 days away from our wedding and I'm finishing up different DIY crafts. I put hidden mickeys on my shoes and veil. I feel like if we ever met we'd be great friends :). Anyway I hope you are doing well and I hope you have a wonderful week.
Haha that's awesome your mom made your Merriweather costume! I wish they would bring back the Hunchback and Hercules characters too! They bring out the Hercules characters every once in a while at Disney World. And I've seen Esmerelda at Disney Tokyo! I didn't know you were getting married! Congrats! I'm so excited for you! I hope the whole planning process goes smoothly!
kenziemacbrown thank you. Yeah I'm getting married on May 11th. It's a Japanese and Disney/Tangled themed wedding. I've made the majority of the decorations with the help of some of my friends. Each centerpiece is a different Disney movie and has items that represent that movie. I made an origami wall for the ceremony space. It's been a bit stressful but I'm so proud of everything that I've made and I can't wait to show it off to friends and family.
As for sharing stories with other performers, that's a fantastic idea because Cinderella will know the same story that she told someone yesterday, if you catch my drift.
I was so excited for this video since you asked on instagram if you should keep the video at 28 minutes. YES PLEASE! I'm so excited you did. Your makeup looks gorgeous. Are you wearing the tarte girl boss lashes? I've been wanting to try them since they look so beautiful on you but I've never applied false lashes in my life. I can't wait for your Disneyland videos. Have a wonderful week!
Haha I tried to cut out as much rambling as possible without getting rid of any of the questions. I would bet they're probably those lashes. I just keep a stash of them and I typically just grab whatever is closest to me. But those have been my favorite lately! Learning how to put on false lashes is tough, but once you do it a few times you start to get the hang of it.
Were there ever any people that you recognized that came regularly to see Ariel? Like passholders who liked to visit Ariel? Love your videos and hope you’re having a great day!
I feel like Disneyland gets a lot more passholders than Disney World does, but there were a few guests I saw multiple times! I knew some of them from Instagram and would see them in the parks every once in a while. I don't know if there were any that loved Ariel in particular, there was one guy who one of the performers named "King Fargus" because he would visit Merida ALL the time. But those guests were pretty rare! They might come all the time and we might just not know it because we see so many guests.
You are so nice! Thank you so much Amber!! I realize that there's so much negativity on UA-cam and I don't need to be contributing to it. I'm so thankful my videos could help! :)
kenziemacbrown I don’t know why it put buddies lol but thank you for responding! I would of loved to meet you as which ever character you played at Disney, I bet you made an amazing princess and again thanks for such positive fun content
I think one thing that has really amplified my love for Disney is knowing so many great people (like you) have worked or currently work for them. There's something really neat about learning about the inner workings of something so broad and magical and it's wonderful people like you that make every aspect of Disney so magical! I hope you have a great rest of the week!
Yes, I would say I do. Not in a bad way though. But I'm really grateful to go as a guest now! I was worried it would ruin the magic but it almost makes it more fun!
Gah your videos are literally the best. And the fact that you take time to respond to everyone makes me admire you even more! But seriously I always love to hear what you have to say, your stories and tips and the fact that you maintain character integrity. A lot of these questions were ones I’ve been curious about so I’m glad you kept this video nice and long. You’re literally my favorite ahh! Also is that how your hair dries naturally? If it is, it’s gorgeous! And speaking from experience, when I went earlier this month I freaked out when I met Ariel, Belle, Goofy and Donald and I’m 22 hahaha. Disney has no age limit!! Thanks for this awesome video xoxo
Thanks Allie! Honestly responding to the comments is my favorite part! I feel like everyone totally gets my love for Disney and it's so cool for me to share that with you guys! Haha I tried to make it as short as possible without getting rid of any questions, but sometimes long videos are kinda nice! And yes, it is! I honestly don't do much with it most days because it air dries so well, I feel very lucky! Haha oh girl, I know I'm going to be freaking out when I go see those characters at Disneyland too!
Love this!! Oh and over here in DLP it seems they don’t really care and it‘s not required to have the exact movie accent... like I‘ve met „british“, „Australian“, French“ or „german“ accents with Face performers when spending time with the characters... and it didn’t matter for me because personally whenever I meet the characters the magic is REAL. I do believe they take that a lot more seriously in the American parks... dunno about Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo Disneyland tho
I remember once seeing a clearly non-Asian girl playing Mulan at Epcot Center and it really bothered me since Mulan is my absolute favorite character ever. I will never understand how she was cast in that role.
Lol, Tinkerbell: The queen of sass :p I have some kind of crazy dream of playing Rapunzel one day because she has been my favourite character for a very long time. (crazy dream XD) but I can't even audition. I live in the Netherlands and I fear leaving home so I don't think I could go live in America. Especially since that would really upset my family and friends. I'm at least trying to save up money to one day visit Disney World (I really want to go on Dapper day :p). It sounds so magical. I just started watching these video's and they're really good!
I hope you get to visit Disney World some day! I know Disneyland Paris will host auditions in Europe, maybe you could work there instead! I'm sure it's a lot closer :)
aladdins oasis, the place you were mentioning to meet aladdin and jasmine, is currently a meet for moana!! shes very fun to interact with! also for the person going, i would suggest downloading the Disneyland app since it has character meet times and locations!! :) hope that helps! great video kenzie
I didn't know that - thanks for the tip! I didn't know Disneyland had an app either, I thought it was just Disney World! I'll definitely be using that while I'm there!
BriannaJazmin do you mean the musical show?? yeah that was a really fun thing to do!! I haven't seen the frozen one in person yet but most seem to enjoy it! :)
This is the first video of yours that I've watched, and I'm in love! You seem so positive and full of good energy and you can tell just how much you love Disney. I'm off to binge your videos and dream about working for Disney one day!
I love your videos so much! I appreciate how positive and creative all of your content is! You inspired me to apply to the Disney College Program and I'll be moving to Anaheim this coming June for Fall Advantage and I wanted to let you know how these videos made a difference in my life. Thank you for everything :)
Thank you for such an informative video. I’m a performing arts teacher in the uk & I’ve had a few students work in Disneyland Paris. They never believe me when I tell them about character integrity & keeping the magic alive! Paris have a great languages program for cast members to help them understand all the guests who visit.
I loved this video, it was really informative and interesting! Gosh I just love your energy and enthusiasm for Disney and making people of all ages happy and letting them enjoy the experience, you’re truly amazing! :)
You are so sweet, thank you! I think some people are still nervous to show how much they love Disney because they're not a kid. So one of my goals is to show people that adults can still have fun at Disney too!
I did an Elsa cosplay for a Christmas parade, and someone asked me where my crown was, so I ran through Let It Go and reminded him that I threw it away 😂 The stuff you gotta come with....I had lots of magical excuses when I was a cast member at the Disney Store lol.
To whoever was asking about meeting Aladdin and Jasmine, the place is just inside Adventureland on the left b fore you get to Jungle Cruise, it’s called Aladdin’s Oasis. 😊 You can meet Ana and Elsa in CA adventure (inside the Animation Academy building). Characters do roam, but you can also wait in line to meet several of the princesses in one walk-through that’s between Frontierland and the castle (enter that off of the main hub). Hope that helps! (Disneyland annual pass holder here) hope you enjoy your trip!
kenziemacbrown *Hans' voice* I love crazy! Haha but seriously, the entire video, I couldn't stop staring at the eyeshadow. It definitely makes your eyes pop!
Thank you so much Veronica! That is such a great compliment to receive! The greatest goal I could ever achieve is by making other people's lives brighter with my channel :)
As someone who struggles with body image issues I'm glad to hear they have a wide verity for costumes. I may be going to audition for the Frozen Sing A Long in May and needed so encouragement
Go for it! I think the best thing you could do is at least do everything you can on your end (such as going to auditions). I was nervous about going to auditions but I still went because I knew I would never get casted if I didn't go
I think my favorite snack I have found at disney is right outside the Lion King show in Animal Kingdom. Its a kart that sells roasted corn with butter and curry powder. Probably the best corn I have ever had in my life
That sounds SO good! I love finding new snacks (other than the typical Mickey Ice Cream bars). I loved getting the mac and cheese with breadcrumbs at Friar Tuck's in Fantasyland (Magic Kingdom) too! But Animal Kingdom has TONS of good food!
My family and I used to get the Mickey bars almost every day we went there! We just went back a few weeks ago, and it was so much fun exploring the parks for new karts with unique foods:)
I went to WDW three times as a kid and each time we made it a point to see The Little Mermaid show at MGM. I think we stayed for another performance of the play during one trip because it was so hot outside and the mist they sprayed during the ocean scenes felt SO nice! We're wisconsinites and went in the summer so it was a little bit of a shock going from Wisconsin summer in the upper 70s to FL in the 90s and 100s! 😮😂
Thank you so much Olivia! I hope you're doing well too! I've actually been doing wonderful recently! I was feeling super anxious and depressed at the beginning of the year and I think I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel 😊
kenziemacbrown that’s amazing!! mine has been a little bit rough but i’ve been trying to get it under control lately and it is slowly but surely getting better!! it’s great to know i’m not alone:)
Hi Kenzie thank you for this wonderful video!!! I love your long videos they are my favorite! I’m going to Disney World on Wednesday and I’m beyond excited!!! ❤️ can’t wait for more of your Disney videos in the future!!!! ❤️
I’ve just started watching your videos recently and love them! You seem sooo genuine and nice, definitely one of my new favorite UA-camrs. I’m 25 and love Disney so I relate to you so much! My husband and I are taking are (will be almost 3 at the time) son to Disney next February and your videos are just so fun to watch and make me so excited to go and share the Disney magic with my son!
You are so sweet, thank you! Oh my gosh you're going to have so much fun with him! I can't wait to have kids someday and see Disney through their eyes.
The question about "big-boned" people interested in being a performer is really sad, but I see where Disney is coming from to an extent. They're trying to choose people that look as much like the characters as possible, and unfortunately, most of the characters are thin. Do I think that's okay? Of course not. I think they need to start diversifying, at least to an extent. But the belief in kids would be broken if the performer didn't have a close enough body shape to the character.
I completely agree. It is definitely an issue and not solved through hiring performers. I think Disney needs to consider that when creating characters in the first place, and I think they are doing a better job of that in recent years.
Marisa let me rephrase that black characters. And even with what u said that’s not enough. If we counted all the POC characters it still wouldn’t be as many as the white characters.
D J oh don’t get me wrong they definitely need more POCs in general, especially black characters, I was just saying they seem to be working on it. The only movies they have been making lately with white main characters are sequels which is a good thing. It’s obviously not going to happen over night or even in a year, but I’m happy they are moving in the right direction
so interesting! btw your voice is so sweet. like it's so soothing I dont understand hahah. Love you and your videos!!!! you seem like you would fit right into Disneyland! You make so many videos about Disney, maybe you should consider going back since you seem to love it so much. Remember it's always okay to go back doing something you love, if that's who you are, then do it. ALSO, makeup on POINT! I could never pull off red/pink lipstick lol. Love you so much!!!!
Haha thank you! I normally talk pretty fast so I try to speak slower and clearer in my videos - it's a work in progress! When I decided to start posting videos on my channel I knew I was 100% sure I didn't want to go back. At this point because people know who I am, it would break character integrity if I were to go back. Understandably, I don't think the company likes their employees to self-promote and get a following on social media based off of the fact they work for Disney (and all the photo ops that follow). As much as I loved my job that was a different stage in my life and I'm happy with where I'm at now. I completely understand what you're saying, and there are days when I wonder if I should go back, but then I remember why I left. I didn't see myself with the company in the long-run and it didn't make sense to avoid the inevitable.
you were Ariel right? I've never seen you there, but thats probably because I hardly get to go because it's so expensive lol. I love Disney tho!!! maintenance/janitorial are amazing!!! the park is so freaking clean!!!!!! it's like baffling how clean it is lol
I “discovered” your channel after my first trip to WDW. When I was packing for my trip, I wasn’t excited about meeting characters because I’m an senior-aged adult & had the false idea that it was childhood foolishness. Once I arrived & Mickey hugged me, I was addicted to character meeting. It is like stepping backward into my youth & being part of the magic of animated cartoons. For a while, I could forget “adulting” & enjoy the bliss of make-believe once again. I adore watching your videos. They are always cheerful & bring fun into my day. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to your upcoming Disneyland videos! This may be an odd question, but I am wondering if there is separate casting for being cast as the characters who ride on the floats in parades (or in the Fantasmic production) versus the face characters in specific park locations (like the grotto)? If you are appearing on a float, when the parade ends, do you go have “meetings in the grotto” or in the “Fairytale Hall?” What do the parade performers do for the rest of their shift? In other words, are parade performers double cast for various times of the day? Did YOU ever have the opportunity to ride in a parade as a character?
Awww thank you so much Maryellen! I remember you talking about visiting WDW in October and how much fun you had meeting the characters! I'm so glad you were able to create magical memories during your visit! So to answer your question - most of the parade performers (from what I've noticed) are casted out of the group of performers they already have. So I believe you would only qualify if you were already trained and working as a performer in a meet and greet setting. But yes, for most performers after they are done in the parades they may continue performing in a different location for the remainder of their shift. And no, I didn't have the chance to perform in parades. But I REALLY loved meet and greets!
Guests reactions to characters and being so loved and giving so many hugs to little nugs all day long was my favorite too! This video makes me miss working there so much! Lysm😊
My fav characters I ever met were the step sisters Anastasia was so great she knew every single possible detail about every Cinderella movies she was a lot of fun
I love these longer videos! I like to listen to you when I’m at work 😊 It’s awesome being able to hearing your experiences & perspective of Disney as a former CM & as a guest. I appreciate what you had to say about the casting of minorities to fill the few face character roles currently available. All the best, Brianna
Thanks! It was so fun for me to visit WDW as a guest in October and it was actually super fun! I was worried that it wouldn't be (after working there) but I was pleasantly surprised! Thank you! It's obviously not something easy to talk about, but if no one does then we're just condoning it. I do think they've gotten better, and I would say there's a fair amount of performers who do fit those roles. So it's good to see improvement!
Hi! Ty for answering those questions they really helped me- I really want to audition to work at Disney but I'm going to be way too tall when I'm 18 so I would want to be a villain. I've been getting into cosplay lately and I love it! I think that working at Disney would be a fun job. Love your videos!
Recently found your channel and I'm loving it! I've been binge watching your videos for the past two days :) I'm only 20 but we have the same birthday! So cool! So glad I found your channel :)
Haha it sure is! I had a childhood friend with the same birthday as us as well, and I think no matter when your birthday is it's even better when you get to share it with someone!
What an informative video!! I could listen to you talk about this stuff all day long! I’ll be doing the college program starting in August, and I was really upset that I was unable to make it to an audition. Based on what you said (and the Disney auditions website) though, I probably wouldn’t have gotten pulled anyways because of my height!! Thanks for answering so many questions!
I'm so excited you get to do the college program!! You're going to have so much fun! I did the fall program and I absolutely loved it, it was so much fun being there during the Halloween and Christmas parties!
I don't know if I saw this one before, but this was super-fascinating. The part on accents was interesting, because I was always curious about a time I met Aurora, and she had a REALLY thick Southern accent. Like, full "Southern Belle". No other Princess had an accent (even other times I met Aurora), so I was kind of shocked that was allowed to "pass". I wonder if the rules just changed, or what? It was kind of fun, though!
I don't know if the rules changed, but I have noticed that some performers pay attention to those details better than others. There's been moments where I've gone to meet characters and the performer didn't try at all to act like the character, it was really surprising! Most performers do their best to be as authentic as possible, but it's not always the same across the board.
This brought back some memories for me from visiting Disneyland in 2002. I was 11 at the time & my first day there out of the five we got to go, I was just kinda sour towards interacting with the characters. I knew they were all in costume & didn't see the appeal. I went there with my mom, best friend, younger sister, my best friend's younger sister, & my best friend's mom. My best friend was 10, my sister was 8, & my best friend's sister was 7. Shortly after walking in, there was Captain Hook, the three other kids ran towards him. Our parents gave us autograph books for getting their autograph in. My mom was trying to urge me to get his autograph & I didn't want to, I even remember making a comment on him probably just clawing it with his hook or something. That whole day, I just watched the others get excited over seeing the characters & getting their autographs but I just didn't care, I wanted to ride the rides. Not sure if this was the following day but by this point, I was starting to warm up to them & we were doing this Winnie the Pooh breakfast thing where we had breakfast at a restaurant & different Winnie the Pooh characters came out & joined us. Tigger was what got me so excited with his high energy & everything, I wound up being flipped around & got all the signatures of the characters there & wanted to get more in the park. Tigger was bouncing around & having fun, I think he saw that I wasn't so into it because he picked me out of the crowd & got me jumping around too. I actually got so into Tigger that I wanted Tigger everything, except the Santa hat (we went around Christmas) there wasn't Tigger Santa hats that fit my head that we could find, at least I remember them all being smaller, so I got a Minnie Mouse one instead. My younger sister got Tigger just because she knew I wanted it. I did get a Tigger fanny pack & jingle bell though, that was cool. I got so into finding Disney characters since they did just kinda walk around the park, it was fun finding them & made getting the signatures a lot more special than waiting in line, I would seek out my favorites. At the time, I think Treasure Planet was still new, I know Lilo & Stitch was still a bit new because I remember being surprised at finding a Lilo & Stitch pin, thinking it would be longer before they had something like that for the movie. Ben was my favorite character in Treasure Planet when I was younger, now I think it's Morph but at the time, it was definitely Ben. We were waiting in line for something when I spotted Ben walking around & I shouted "BEN!" to try & get his attention & hoped he would come over to us. He did not. Actually, I think he was about to go on break because he started walking away. I broke from the line & my friends & family to chase him down, not caring about getting lost because I didn't think I'd have another chance. My mom was right behind me & we went a little distance before I caught up with him & finally was able to get his signature. He put a smiley inside the B. I would never do anything like that today, I'm nearly 27 now & understand, people need their breaks but as a kid, terrified that would be my only time to meet Ben, I just had to do it. I've spent a good amount of today watching your videos, I had a bit of a spat with my dad over something stupid & it got me angry, I had to get my mind off of it & this helped. I might end up traveling to Disneyland this Spring which actually was a shock, I can't afford to go on my own & my mom said she never wanted to go to Disneyland again so I figured, unless a rich friend wanted to pay my way in, I'd just never go. My mom surprised me the other day with saying that she wants to take a trip to Disneyland in the Spring & I was all over that, last time I got to go was in 2002. I experienced things there I can never explain, like this old man I met outside the Haunted Mansion, he had a glowing thumb & I tried to get him to reveal how he did it & he only responded with saying "Disney magic." Alright, he probably had a glow stick or something hiding in his hand but I'd like to believe it was Disney magic. Hearing stories from employees is actually really cool, I wanted to be more mindful as an adult going on the performers & being able to keep the magic there for the kids because as a kid, I was rude & didn't care about ruining it for the others but at the time, I didn't get it. I'm older now & understand, I even work with kids today so I'm happy seeing the magic happen for them. Thinking about that excitement along with your videos definitely has me feeling better & I don't even remember what the fight I had with my dad was about now.
I am so glad my videos could help you in some way - even if it's to forget a fight you had with your dad! I hope you get the chance to go to Disneyland in the Spring, I still love visiting as an adult! I loved reading your story and learning about how your love for meeting characters all began. I agree, when you think about it logically it doesn't make sense why we would get excited meeting characters. But even as someone who has seen all the magic fully exposed, it actually made me believe in it more. My belief was less about me proving something to be "real" or "factual" and more about helping others find joy in a world filled with darkness and sadness.
You're so sweet! Thank you! I really appreciate it! I try to keep everything as positive and honest as I can. There were some things I really didn't like about working for Disney, but a lot of it was just personal experience and doesn't need to be shared all over the internet! Haha
I loooove your videos!! And i was actually thinking about a question to ask, and then you answered it. Ive always loved Disney, and we went a couple months back, and I felt so funny asking my parents to go meet the characters and princesses, and standing in line getting looks from little kids was bonkers. So im super glad you talked about adults and teens coming to meet their favorite characters, and how the character could change their story and actions to suite the age of the guest. Keep up the amazing content, love from SC !❤🍭
Ahhh I love these videos 💛💛 just moved out recently (for the first time) and I love watching these sit down and talking videos so it feels like I’m not alone 😂😂
Typically they have Aladin, Jasmine, and Flynn Rider rotating right outside Fairy Tale Hall, but then again the layout is constantly being changed. I would recommend the Disney Park App as well
Your makeup is BEAUTIFUL ! I wore a similar look today(: ..will u do a video on being a fur character performer? And on how to become a successful makeup artist? I love your content(:
Thank you so much Deanna! Do you have any specific ideas for a fur performer video? I've thought about doing one in the past but I feel like I pretty much covered everything I could (without breaking character integrity) in my character performer video. But I would love to do the makeup artist video! I started off by watching UA-cam videos! Haha
I did love ur character performer video(: I respect so much that u keep character integrity ! I cant think of any specific questions id have for a fur character..but if u do decide to make one I'll watch it(:
18:10 I’m pretty sure that it’s that Disney searches for a vague description of people for characters and they just choose the best because maybe there aren’t many beige skinned ppl auditioning and a lot of them will be tan white people
Your videos alwayssss make me so happy! I miss going to Disney and probably can't go in awhile so I just live my dreams thru you :( Thank you for always being amazing. And you're beautiful!! 💗
Yay!! I was super looking forward to this, and I love hearing your responses! This makeup look is sooo stellar!! I have a few q's of my own!: Did you get many chances to interact with other characters while you and your character were on? And if so, did your character ever plan things to say with the other characters or was a lot of it improv'd on the spot, or a mix of both? Did Ariel ever get to meet guests with Prince Eric during your time at WDW, or any other characters from her story? I know that Flounder, Sebastian, and maybe even Max or Chef Louis sometimes make very rare appearances, so I too wonder if they ever were out while you worked there! I'm also really glad you touched on the issue of diversity and I absolutely agree with you. It's sad when ethnically diverse characters have to get white-washed. It's never completely in the character performers' control when it comes to casting, even if it ends up disappointing many people because it's not so great for representation when there's so few roles that exist that aren't white. In many cases, I'm sure the performers have mixed thoughts on it as well. I too hope it'll improve in the future, and I'm happy that in recent times there have been more characters from many varieties of backgrounds! Also, I just wanna say thank you for all you do on here and thanks for the shout-out! I often feel like I write way too much in the comments since the topics you talk about are so interesting and I love sharing my thoughts, so I really appreciate that you don't mind my rambling 😂you are too sweet! ❤️Thanks again for the great video, Kenzie!
So when I was spending time with King Louie he would hang out with Baloo and that was always super fun! I also got to hang out with Mrs. Incredible one night and she was at the Incredibles Dance Party with Frozone and Mr. Incredible. But other than that I wasn't there when Ariel started meeting with Prince Eric unfortunately. I would've loved that! And I love reading your comments! I know you put a lot of time and thought into them and it means a lot to me!
Thank you so much for answering my question! I guess when I said “usual 5’4” it was a generalization because all of these videos I watch, people seem to hover around 5’4 and obviously that’s wayyyyy shorter than me but thank you so much and I really appreciate it!
Haha no I totally got what you were saying! ALSO I just looked at one of the most recent postings on the auditions calendar and the height range is now 5'3" to 5'8"!
Hi! I love your videos so much and they have been an amazing help in preparing for my upcoming Disney audition. They’re also just fun to watch and kill time! :) I was wondering if you knew what a “sculpted character” is? One of the entries on the Disney auditions website is (I think) specifically for these sculpted characters. Thank you and I hope you’re having a lovely week!
Hey Kenzie! I leave for my cp a month from tomorrow, and i've watched so many of your videos in preparation for being a performer. I'm so stoked and your videos have helped a bunch. Thanks :)
I think performers sometimes make adult meet and greets more special. I love Ariel and Belle and they were the two princesses I first saw on my first day at Disney World on my first ever trip this past October. The first time I saw them was in their stage shows in Hollywood Studios and I cried like a baby, haha. Ariel saw me crying in the front row and gave me a wave. And my first Meet and Greet with Belle, we took a short walk to talk about books and she signed my favorite book I brought with me (Harry Potter). I'm 21 😂 I think they secretly enjoy it!
That is so sweet! I think since adults are used to not having a magical interaction as the "norm" (sadly) it really does make it feel that much more magical when the characters make you feel special!
I am on spring break from school and i stumbled upon your channel and i LOVE it! I have been binge watching your videos for the past few days. Just wanted to say i love your personality and the content you are creating!
That’s very comforting knowing that they may have up to a 14 in sizing! I am a size 10/12 so knowing they may have my size range is awesome because I thought they only had up to a 8/10! 😍
I don't think a lot of people know that! Granted, their sizing is a little different than most - but I feel like that's normal for the same size to vary even between different retail stores!
If you're white and get cast to be friends with a character of color (Jasmine, Pocahontas, etc.), can you say you're not comfortable with that position? I would absolutely LOVE to work at Disney but I don't want to do something like that. By the way this is the first of your videos that I've seen but I'm definitely subscribing! You're so adorable and sweet!
I'm sure you could! But I'm sure there's a lot of girls who don't just because they want the opportunity. Unfortunately you wouldn't get the chance to say "I don't want this role, I'd rather have ____ role instead". So they may feel that would jeopardize their chances at getting more roles. Sad, but I think that's why. I also feel like Disney is getting better at casting people of color in roles like Jasmine, Pocahontas, Moana and Elena! And thanks Emma! I really appreciate it!
Listened to the whole thing while doing my makeup! 😂😂 If you could pick any year during college to take a break from school to do the program which year would you pick? I’m planning on doing the dpc in the future. Most people have said sophomore year but I just want as many opinions as I can get 😁 Also did you put school on hold while working or did you take a few classes?
Someone else had this question too, and honestly it really depends on your school situation. I applied my senior year and was able to go after I had graduated. It was really nice because I was able to stay there afterwards and work full time and I didn't have to worry about classes. I was in a sorority in college and my biggest concern was having fomo and missing out on my college experience to do the DCP. So I kinda got the best of both worlds by doing that! That being said, most of the people in the program were younger (Freshman and Sophomores) so I didn't really fully engage in some of the events (like there was a semi-formal and different fun things like that). I was kinda over all that at that point! Haha and you can always take online classes too! Or the DCP offers collegiate courses. You just have to verify that your college accepts the credits. I hope that helps! There are pros and cons to doing it earlier in college rather than later. It really just depends on what you're looking for. I had a really fun college experience and I really didn't want to miss out on that so I was grateful to do the DCP after I graduated. But you might enjoy it more as a freshman or sophomore because there will be WAY more people there your age.
Okay awesome, that accent thing especially was really helpful!! I'm Australian so yeah, I was wondering about that. Awesome! Thanks! And the rest of the video was also really great and really helpful! Thank you for making it!
Gearing up for more character auditions and rewatching all of your disney videos! Lots of love and I appreciate you sharing all these experiences and hope you're doing fantastic now! (still keeping up w your engagement) but trying to re-enter the disney sphere!
every time I watch one of ur vids I’m just mesmerized by ur eyeshadow the whole time
Haha thanks Lydia! I hadn't been creative with my makeup in a while so I went a little crazy with it!
lydia yes! True!! 😂
lmao SAME

Not sure if someone ever mentioned this but nationality is not the same as race or ethnicity. Nationality is the country where you hold citizenship. I'm an American citizen but my ethnic heritage is Chinese and Norwegian. Just wanted to clarify. Love your videos!
Thanks Melissa, appreciate the clarification!
you kind of remind me of veronica from Riverdale
Thank you!! I actually did a Camilla Mendes/Veronica Lodge makeup tutorial a few videos back!
missbrittneyann but she's way nicer than Veronica, veronica can be a little annoying
@@mackenzhughes I was just about to type this!!

It would be so so cool if you could start to meet the Blank Panther characters soon!
girl I feel you
Do you sing or dance? What kind of character or role are you seeking.? They also hire for cruise ships and other parks all over. There is an audition for the cruise line coming up that specifies a preference for color. Check it! 😊
Alexis Whitted You’re super pretty! You look like you would make a good princess Tiana.
I️ hope they see this
Thank you so much for the tip! It's good to know that they've moved!
At Disney world? No they meet in Adventureland currently by the magic carpet ride!
Macayla I️ was talking about Disneyland in California, but I’d love to meet them by the magic carpet rides if I️ got to go to WDW
Anyssa Martinez oh gotcha! Yes they’re super sweet to meet!
I suggest getting either the Disneyland or world app for anyone looking to meet characters! It’ll tell you their exact location and set times ☺️
I didn't even know they had one! Thanks for letting me know! I'm sure I'll be using it all the time!
Yes! That app was really helpful when I was last in Disney World, and it’s great to get the wait times for rides!
we have the same name 😮
I love your videos, thank you for this! I love how you answered the question about Ariel preferring being a human or mermaid haha. I've been to WDW twice (for high school band performances) and my one big regret is not meeting Ariel because she's my favorite character, so hopefully one day I will! If you're a kid or adult, it doesn't matter how old you are to meet your favorite characters.
I hope you get to meet her someday! She's always been my favorite character and I'm still excited about seeing her in Disneyland!
Funny you mentioned band... I’m going there in a few weeks for a band performance. 😬
Your eyeshadow is absolutely STUNNING
You are so sweet! Thanks Scarlette! :)
Xoxx
Yess I would love to also see the heights for Inside out and zootopia characters
I think she’s only there at Halloween and Christmas so a seasonal performer probably covers her ‘-‘
I love your videos!
Haha kids saying stuff like that I totally get, when it comes from parents - that's the real shocker!
julianatoli15 p
Nope, we don't don't see villains dying, we see them falling...or see Scar getting jumped on by hyenas..or see Rapunzel's witch caretaker turn very old, fall form a tower and turn to dust.. xD
Hey, it's a theory! Haha
Or see the guy from Tarzan get caught in the vines or the priest from hunchback fall to lava so nope they didn't die
Don't forget Scar gets engulfed by flames, as well!
Worst case - if you get there and you realize it's not for you then you can always end your program early!
inredlipsticks It’s been a year, how’s everything?
Great questions! I love hearing the insights from your performer perspective, we as guests don´t get to know how it´s like for you working with a charachter very often, very interesting video!
Omg Kenzie as a villain?? 😱 that’s so surprising! I love it though, she’d do awesome at it 💓
Haha it would be SO much fun! If there was ever a chance where they had Yzma in the parks that would be the dream!
kenziemacbrown or even Edna!! (Even though she’s not technically a villain)
I feel like you are one of the sweetest most genuine youtubers out there. Love watching your videos, Kenzie.
Katya S that is so creative! you sound like an amazing person i hope everything goes well for you!
Ava Glass thank you so very much :)
As for sharing stories with other performers, that's a fantastic idea because Cinderella will know the same story that she told someone yesterday, if you catch my drift.
Awesome to see such behind the scenes insight. Also your makeup is on POINT!
Thanks girl! I was feeling creative! Haha
I love how positive, friendly, and nice you are! Your buddies just put me in such a good mood, happy I found you
You are so nice!
Beauty and the Beast’s story takes place in France. Do the performers have to speak french ?
I think one thing that has really amplified my love for Disney is knowing so many great people (like you) have worked or currently work for them. There's something really neat about learning about the inner workings of something so broad and magical and it's wonderful people like you that make every aspect of Disney so magical! I hope you have a great rest of the week!
Thanks Ashley!!
do you look at disney differently after being a past cast member?
Yes, I would say I do. Not in a bad way though. But I'm really grateful to go as a guest now! I was worried it would ruin the magic but it almost makes it more fun!
Former cast member here... totally see Disney different
What does Ariel do when she is meeting guests who don’t speak English?
She would continue to interact with them just like any other guest :)
Your makeup looks so pretty!!
Thank you so much Becca!
The weather (the heat) would be my LEAST favorite part of working at Disney parks.
That's why I left in June! Haha
Lol, Tinkerbell: The queen of sass :p
I have some kind of crazy dream of playing Rapunzel one day because she has been my favourite character for a very long time.
I’ve never been to DCA & I wish I had gone before Aladdin’s Oasis was axed 😢 Aladdin & Jasmine are my favorite couple
Thank you so much Emma, you are so sweet!
That's so cool! Haha yes character integrity is a thing. That's neat they have a languages program!
Off topic-your makeup is so pretty!!!
You are so sweet, thank you!
Thanks for the tips! It's super helpful!!
Your makeup is SO BEAUTIFUL today, Kenzie! I love it! Thanks for keeping my Tuesdays entertaining!!
Thank you so much Mckenzie!! I haven't felt very creative lately so I went a tad crazy! Haha
kenziemacbrown *Hans' voice* I love crazy! Haha but seriously, the entire video, I couldn't stop staring at the eyeshadow. It definitely makes your eyes pop!
I love your videos so much! Whether they’re about Disney, makeup, or life, I always find them so entertaining and they put me in such a great mood!
a 30 minute video from kenzie today was much needed!! love this!! hope you’re doing great love💓
We’ve asked for more POC characters they won’t listen so hopefully they’ll listen to your request they are hard at listening lol
D J they have been listening the past movies have been CoCo and Moana
I love your eye makeup! It's gorgeous
Thank you!
Marr Blankenship such a sweet reminder we can enjoy childlike wonder at any age. I really loved reading your comment ❤️
Guests reactions to characters and being so loved and giving so many hugs to little nugs all day long was my favorite too! This video makes me miss working there so much! Lysm😊
I know, why can't every job be like that? Haha
Thank you so much Caaryn! It's a great birthday to have! But I'm kinda biased! Haha
I did the fall program and I absolutely loved it, it was so much fun being there during the Halloween and Christmas parties!
kenziemacbrown I’ve never been to Disney for Christmas, so I’m super stoked about that!! Thanks for the reply!!
I love listening to you, Kenzie! Great answers and even to the more difficult questions! ~Daphne
My belief was less about me proving something to be "real" or "factual" and more about helping others find joy in a world filled with darkness and sadness.
i've seen so many people on youtube like lying about disney and stuff but your one of the most honest people i've seen in a while
You're so sweet!
That is such a big life step! I remember moving across the country to Florida was so overwhelming at first. I promise it'll get easier with time!
Thank you so much Ili for always leaving the nicest comments on my videos and Instagram posts! I really appreciate it!
Aw, that sounds like it must’ve been a great time! Like a mini-reunion of characters from their own stories! 😍
I love your eye makeup!! & now I’m more confident in my height knowing I can be a princess 💗💗
I'm so happy I found you! I appreciate your videos and point of view, it's really refreshing! Fyi- Love your make-up on all your videos! Beautiful!
You are so sweet, thank you so much Emily!! ☺️
I think since adults are used to not having a magical interaction as the "norm" (sadly) it really does make it feel that much more magical when the characters make you feel special!
kenziemacbrown Absolutely 👍
This was such a fun video!! You have no idea how excited and happy I was to see this is in my stream! Thank you for making my day :)
You are so sweet!! Thank you so much! I'm so glad my videos made your day :)
I am on spring break from school and i stumbled upon your channel and i LOVE it! I have been binge watching your videos for the past few days. Just wanted to say i love your personality and the content you are creating!
You are so sweet, thank you so much Maria! I love creating videos about Disney and it makes me happy knowing other people enjoy watching them!
Do you have a P.O box? Because I would really want to send something to you?❤️
That’s very comforting knowing that they may have up to a 14 in sizing! I am a size 10/12 so knowing they may have my size range is awesome because I thought they only had up to a 8/10! 😍
I don't think a lot of people know that! Granted, their sizing is a little different than most - but I feel like that's normal for the same size to vary even between different retail stores!
We are hoping to visit Disney when my children are a bit older(currently 4 and 2) and I'll be just as excited to meet the characters!
You are soo amazing! I also have a quick question, how many times can you do the Disney College Program!?!
ive never even been to disney but your videos are so fun to listen to!! we love the long ones so keep em coming!
Thank you so much!
Omg we have the same star sign!! This makes me so happy as someone who would love to be a theme park performer, and be as fantastic as you.
I really appreciate it!
kenziemacbrown You’re welcome! Thank you so much for replying and answering my question!
your makeup is always stunning!! You know exactly how to bring out your green eyes and it looks soooo good!
Thank you! I was feeling creative :)
I love you Kenzie!!! You're such a sweetheart and always brighten up my day ❤️
You are so sweet, thank you so much Gillian!!
I just have to say that your makeup looks absolutely flawless and your video was so helpful!
You are so nice! Thanks Holly!
This was so helpful thanks so much! Best video on this topic I have seen!!! Love your Vids and your makeup!
Thanks Jessica! I'm glad it was helpful!
I could listen to you talk for hours! Loved this :)
You are so sweet, thank you so much Athena! I feel like I ramble WAY too much so this is a huge compliment!
But you might enjoy it more as a freshman or sophomore because there will be WAY more people there your age.
kenziemacbrown thank you so much!❤️
Okay awesome, that accent thing especially was really helpful!! I'm Australian so yeah, I was wondering about that. Awesome! Thanks! And the rest of the video was also really great and really helpful! Thank you for making it!
I'm so glad it was helpful! :)
If you do another Q and A, I have a question- can you be a princess during the dcp? Or do you have to be a full time worker?
You’re so pretty omg !! I love Disney and I love watching your videos and I hope your Disney trip coming up is fantastic 😊
Gearing up for more character auditions and rewatching all of your disney videos! Lots of love and I appreciate you sharing all these experiences and hope you're doing fantastic now! (still keeping up w your engagement) but trying to re-enter the disney sphere!
I hope your audition go well Monica!! I really want to create more Disney videos again - which means I should really plan a trip soon! Haha
