Just wondering the one that you showed for carrying behind the back...IS THERE a recommended for this, especially when talking about the handle length? I currently mostly carry an SOG Kambit
I barbarian carry. That's when I carry a knife sheathless and in my hand with a full finger grip. It may be alarming to everyone around me and I'm having difficulty writing this comment, but I do have the benefit of absolute zero draw time and the comfort of having my waist, boots and neck free of clutter.
Boot carry ftw. That's my favorite way to keep a fixed blade on me. I've never tried the scout carry but that looks like it might be really good for certain blades I own.
@@BassMaster.454I do this with all my sub 12cm blades. Sometimes you gotta mod the kydex a little but it doesn’t bother me at all. Did 22hrs of driving recently spread across two days and my knife didn’t bother me at all.
Yeah I use to think carrying a knife on your Chest or around you’re neck was badass until someone pointed out to me that’s the easiest way to give someone access to your knife and then even better access to stabbing you in the neck because the knife is alright pointing straight at it LMAO
@@gtlogic2362don't be stupid. In this scenario they're already close enough to grab your knife. You're not gonna be able to draw and shoot by the time you're bleeding to death.
Hilarious comments btw but if I may, I’m going to leave a serious one, “Scout Carry” is a bad idea. It’s for the same reason carrying a firearm there is a bad idea. If you get put on you back, either by accident or with a takedown, there’s a decent chance you’ll end up in a wheelchair. That section is one of the more vulnerable areas of your spine and carrying any kind of hard object there should be avoided. I know, there’s always “that guy,” running their mouth and making everyone roll their eyes. I guess it’s me this time. Seriously don’t carry anything unforgiving there: multi-tool, knife, firearm etc
I think scout carry looks badass but youve gotta have a sheath designed for it. I just got a bk18 and ive been attempting scout carry and getting into cars, passing through door ways, turning while near a wall, all these things result in snagging. I actually think i snag more then just standard belt carry.
Dominant side kidney waistband carry. Allows for fast reverse grip defense. Non dominant side appendix carry. Allows for foreward grip crossdraw defense.
You failed to mention- Appendix Carry: worn horizontal "Samurai" style inside the front waistband with or without a sheath, with a sheath inside the pants, without a sheath with the blade tucked into the layers of the belt.
The problem I'm having with this (from a self defense perspective) is that a belt carried back or side of neck knives can work against you really bad the easy access for you means also easy access for someone else not to mention the choke cord around u're neck i rather stick to my pocket folder Wich is just as strong and easy to pull out as a fixed blade (cold steel sr1)
None of these are practical and are best utilized in specific environments. Best carry for EDC with self defense in mind is a cross draw set up over your belt buckle in front. You project your vitals while drawing your knife and it's a very quick motion. From the draw all you have to do is bend your elbow 90 and you're in a fighting stance. Scout carry exposes vitals and is slow ASF. The other shit either wastes pocket space or is too obvious. Boot carry is silly an only for weekend warriors or for those that don't use their knives daily (or weekly) lol
Belt carry but with the knife facing the other way so it can be deployed in a icepick grip cut straight from the draw like a samurai lol makes it way easier to get it into the fight
My only issue with this is does the knife not poke and come in your way all the time? I carry a folding knife and it snugly hangs on to my pocket with the clipper without me even noticing. But again, theres downsides to a folder carry vs fixed carry
And in Australia, you go to jail! Archaic regulations and laws. Back when I was a young whipper-snapper we would carry our knives in out teeth or, failing that, kept securely in our prison wallet.
You're telling me that while walking the streets you guys would keep your knives stuck up your butts and if you wanted to switch it up you'd then stick it in your mouth!? I don't even understand the mechanics and dimensions of how small OR big the knives were that you would carry.
If you intend to do knife fighting then carry it on your ribs. Normally handle down for easy access unless your a handle up guy like Emile (freaks). Your draw will protect your vital organs and it's the hardest to prevent since the abduction muscles are normally significantly stronger. It also maximizes potential muscle force if you need to shove and create space while helping the draw simultaneously. I 100% garuntee you will be dead from any other carry if they have the drop on you
It's a back plate I made out of Kydex. Just cut a rectangle to size, drill through the holes in the sheath, and cut belt loops into it. You can even use the hardware that came with the knife!
I’m convinced that the pocket clip was invented by knife manufacturers to help you lose your 🔪 knife. Lost one going through branches and brush at a job site when it got caught on a bush thing got pulled right out of my pocket.
No one ever shows re-sheathing the scout carry... literally i been searching multiple videos and nobody shows it because its hard to put it back and im trying to find a solution or method with no luck...
Unless you're a military infantry scout, Calvary scout or hunting guide, in professions where you spend lots of hours in the prone position there's no practical advantage to carry a knife scout carry. Military scouts spend much time in the prone position, where a knife carried in the hip, the chest rig or the appendex position will snag on brush & debris as well as be difficult to access.

Non dominant side appendix carry. Allows for foreward grip crossdraw defense.

Just an FYI for Californians, you have to carry it so it's visible otherwise we consider it illegal since it's a concealed weapon.
