GOOD MORNING EVERYONE! (Or evening if you’re on this side of the world). Have a day! I can honestly say that I have *never* heard anyone before refer to tractor attachments as like women’s handbags. Thanks, Melissa! Yet another arrow in the quiver for expanding the hardware. 😁
I'm a new subscriber to your channel, live outside Dallas TX on 1.25 acres, getting ready to retire (own a security co. that installs camera systems for corporate customers) & buy some acreage in Kingston Washington where my son & his wife, 1 year old 1st grand daughter live. Why is it that after watching 3-4 of your video I feel like I've known both of you my whole life? Love both of you & your channel. So refreshing to hear positive people talking about "real" stuff for a change. I stumbled on your channel searching how to clear trees w excavator & build roads & trails on raw property I'm getting ready to purchase. Your channel has been so helpful & taught me a lot! Thanks for what you do & may God continue to bless your family richly-as He has already done. - Ron
I did firewood with a couple of other firefighters on our off days - we averaged about $1.25 an hour from cutting the trees to delivering a full cord - stacked 😞 Enjoyed it but obviously not a good money maker... Truly enjoy all your videos ❣️ From Chesapeake VA.
Darren at Top Dog Attachments is great to work with. I spoke to him directly when I was interested in getting the Granite Grapple that I ended up buying through Rural King. What an awesome grapple it is too. I'm really wanting to get one of their ballast boxes to test that out as well.
It's been nice to see you guys grow over the last few years. I wait for Mike to upload almost everyday. Keep doing your thing. We love you guys and wish you continued success
One full cord out here in the SoCal mountains is 4’x4’x8’, tightly stacked, or 128 cu. ft. We get $275 - $375 per cord, delivered, depending on the season, of Black Oak, White Oak, or California Live Oak.
Exactly correct. In fact it's written into law here. But to expand on that the loose (ok, pun intended) rule of thumb is that the legal tightly stacked cord is 80% the volume of piled or dumped wood. Add 32 cubic feet in that case, which amounts to a total of 160 cubic feet or 6 cubic yards. I'm not sure that counting buckets of a certain stated volume is accurate enough though unless it's been worked out empirically.
joe woodchuck, 6 cubic yards is162 cubic feet, calculated out. CA Weights and Measures defines a cord as “tightly stacked”. There are a lot of shysters that dupe the city folk with 100-110 cu ft cords. It weighs about the same, 1 ton Too hot and a Red Flag, extreme fire danger, day so it’s too hot to even think about cutting and splitting today. Gonna survey some dead oaks later today.
It may be easier, but you are not counting the hand reworking. As a kid on vacation in Maine, we would gather around a fire on the beach of they family's lake shore property. It was the most peaceful and friendly few hours of my summers. I am glad your family does not face the domestic combat which marked much of my "home life" I have seen the Fire Ring. Full and flaming it cannot hold a candle to the warmth, joy, and comfort of a single Morgan Heart. God Bless you.
I know you like to cut wood in any way , standing trees , on the ground , wood splitting , saw mill , I must have left out some , but I am still waiting for you to get back on the Mini Cabin , I enjoy watching you and Melissa work together .
Melissa, don’t combine you and Mike on “Morgan’s Off the Leash” you both deserve and require your own separate episode. I would like to see some photos of Mike during his high school years. Did he have hair then? Sports? What star did he drive then? Melissa have Kate interview you. Mike or the girls won’t be straight enough and it would let us meet Kate more.
I sure wish you still numbered your videos... Made it easier when looking for a certain video and definitely easier to keep up with when I'm Binge Watching your channel!! Y'all have a blessed day.
Been following yall for a long time and the channel is amazing. Been pure joy to watch the subs grow and the payoff for all the hard work show. The video on your son was heartwarming and as a side note Melissa is gorgeous and so sweet. Yall are a blessed family! Final note, have you considered a dump truck Mike?
That is the only way to handle firewood with a loader and a dump trailer , the Morgan enterprise is taking shape . Good job Mr. & Mrs. Morgan . Be safe
Hi Mike and Melissa, Just checking the number of buckets, I counted 6 unless you cut away 1 during editing. Melissa, you have my vote for a swimming pool. :-)
Mike, you can buy glasses that turn into sunglasses when needed. When are you going to put Stanleys marker in place? Melissa maybe do it on your channel as he was a family member, not a working member???? I think a separate episode would honor Stanley's life?
Unless those sunlight sensitive sunglasses have improved a lot I can tell you that they suck. They respond too slowly and only turn dark if sunlight is actually on them. So if you're in the shade but looking toward sunny areas, they'll remain clear. When they do change state it needs to happen nearly instantly to be of much use, which they don't. Been there, done that.
I've used a Buhler rock bucket now for about four years for loading firewood with my JD 3039R.. I can load my 12' dump trailer in about 15 minutes with this rig... Nice to see someone else using similar equipment..
New Sub. Searched for firewood stacking and was amazed by your work Mike. Then watched you splitting wood into your trailer in record time. Now watching this video. Im jealous of all your toys and attachments! Keep up the great work!
I know it might be hard to do, but a flash back video of Stanley would be fun to see. It would be good to see his grave too. Who likes to joke around the most out of all of you. I have seen in the past Eva likes to have fun.
Hey Mike and Melissa, great video with the firewood bucket. You two work so well together, kinda like how smooth the original Whose On First routine, really a joy to watch and listen too. Keep up the good work and videos and thanks for sharing with us. Fred
Oh you just mentioned about Stanley have you done anything for his burial Spot yet ? I hope you do and let us see the finished area. He was a good dog .again stay safe Mike&Melissa Morgan
You guys work great together, I enjoy your videos informative and entertaining. Also it was nice seeing a 4-H emblem, I have been involved with 4-H my entire life. Thanks again for your videos. We live in Maryland.
Never thought about using this type of bucket for loading anything but rock. Several years ago while laying 1500 feet of gas line, we brought up quite a bit of rock which we were going to have to deal with. After talking to an excavator friend of mine, he suggested a rock bucket. What a piece of equipment. We used it to back fill the ditch. It not only allowed us to push in the dirt but allowed to separate out the rocks from the soil. Will watching your video, I noticed that there was a small amount of material other than the wood being added to the trailer. We learned that if you jiggled the bucket ,finer stuff would be filtered out. Not until I watched your video did I think that instead of leaving this bucket sitting idle in the back of my equipment building, I could use this to carry my firewood , plus filtering out any debris.
Good morning again. Haven’t seen any of your intro’s lately. Was really liking them. Have people quit sending them in? Also the ones at the end. Have a great day and God Bless.
morning , yall beautiful here at the Augusta National Golf course ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, easy quick and ready to deliver , looks like a nice load of wood . now get more done because time not wasted on stacking
Wish I had 1 of those buckets, I move a lot of firewood around from where I cut and split to the woodshed. Would be better than the dirt bucket. I loved the "I think they already know me" from Mike lmao.
Get some conveyor belt in the bottom of the dump trailer. It will help it stop big dents in the bottom of the trailer. Just bolt it on the front of the trailer. It has really helped save my dump trailer.
Good morning Morgan's, from here in east Tennessee! Loading firewood with the firewood bucket definitely would be the way to go! Melissa, that's one more load of sold firewood closer to building a pool! 😉👍
The rock bucket we use is smaller then yours. We put a back on it so the wood doesn't fall out the back and we can get abit more in. We are 10 buckets for a full cord. Using the bucket is the way to go.
Question about Mike: Did he do any extra curricular stuff in High School and how good (or not) of student was he? Has his music taste changed from when he was in school? The firewood in that trailer is for next year if you wanted it to be fully seasoned, correct?
Another great video guys. I remember seeing that big round sitting there for weeks in videos and then it was gone. I’d figured it had been split but I guess not lol. Take care.
Mike, so, you have a firewood bucket?? What don't you have buddy, i love it!! Do you have a pool bucket, Melissa will buy you one i'm sure. Jay from State College Pa.

Mike - what is your "daily driver" saw that you seem to always grab and take with you out on the trails? Would be interesting for those of us in the market for a new Stihl!
Are you sure that you have a full cord in the trailer? You mentioned that stacked, a full cord fills up the trailer. You also mentioned that dumping wood into the totes is 1/2 the wood versus stacking the wood in the totes. I bet you have less than a full cord in that trailer. It seems to me that you need a better test. Use the firewood bucket to bring over large quantities of wood, then manually stack the wood into the trailer. Once you have filled the trailer by stacking, then you will know how many buckets you need for your full cord. Then you can time how long it takes to fill the trailer with that number of buckets of firewood... and also see how full you need to fill the trailer when just dumping it into the trailer from the bucket.
@@thepotterer3726, I thought a cord was cut, split and stacked and measured 4 x 4 x 8 ? Not whole, unprocessed timber, at least around here that's what a cord is. Wayne's way will tell you exactly how many buckets it will take and what it would look like in the trailer via the bucket.

How big is the bucket. Just curious as I’m looking at that for the future when I get a loader of some sorts. I’m planning on building wood pile cages instead of stacking save some time as it’s just me with no help. Stacking is extra step I’d like to cut out till I get helping hand for stacking.
Awesome video! Question for Mike when he is interviewed by Melissa -- is Mike stubborn? The reason I ask is I can't get him to get a hydraulic top link for his rear attachments, just saying. It would make the landplane work more efficiently. Couple of questions, 1) have you tried dumping gravel using the rear gate chains on the dump trailer? 2) would the firewood bucket work to spread the larger gravel? Can't wait for Mike's interview!👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Question for Mike: When are you going to put in a Swimming Pool ? I heard Hunter say he wants a Swimming Pool for his Birthday !! Check out Morgan's off the leash #15
Looks like the land plane is set nose down. SO only the front is cutting. Suggest trying to set it to cut level. But it could be the falling of the ground.
Because just one pair of sun glasses is not enough. Grill him Melissa during the interview. Ha!! Pictures of when Mike worked in the field would be nice.
That was interesting. BTW, we listen to FROGGY down here in W.V too. I believe their in Parkersburg WV. I'm Old Country but Froggy plays some good music as well. I Like their station. Kinda limited to where we can pick them up, anywhere north of St. Mary's and I am out of range.
Howdy Morgans, Mike 7 for 7 not bad... one minute cycle rate! Noticed you were not using the accelerator, perhaps you could elaborate in a future video as to why you do/do not use it. Have A Day! ;~)

Looks like the land plane is set nose down. SO only the front is cutting. Suggest trying to set it to cut level. But it could be the falling of the ground.
I like the way you roll your eyes
That lady is hilarious !!!
Because just one pair of sun glasses is not enough.
Grill him Melissa during the interview. Ha!!
Pictures of when Mike worked in the field would be nice.
Hi yall I've enjoyed the videos keep it up love from TEXAS
hahahaha "I think they already know me..."
At least the YT persona.
You guys are radio celebrities now, heard the segment on the way home from work yesterday. Great Job!!!
Hello Mike, great video! What kind of material do you have down, that rock, do you like that for mud etc? Does it pack good?
How did Outdoors with the Morgans turn into handbags and laundry? ;) Thanks for the videos Mike and Melisaa.
Cool video
Dual glasses on the hat today Mike, now that’s being prepared for most anything!
😆
That was interesting. BTW, we listen to FROGGY down here in W.V too. I believe their in Parkersburg WV. I'm Old Country but Froggy plays some good music as well. I Like their station. Kinda limited to where we can pick them up, anywhere north of St. Mary's and I am out of range.
Howdy Morgans, Mike 7 for 7 not bad... one minute cycle rate! Noticed you were not using the accelerator, perhaps you could elaborate in a future video as to why you do/do not use it. Have A Day! ;~)
Good morning from MidMo. Screened porch, birds, OWTM.
