- ►How we could've gotten an Armstrong Moment(tm) in Elite Dangerous
I haven't made a video in a while, I just lacked the motivation. A lot of people are annoyed at the moment. Lets just hope they pull a No Man's Sky and the expansion ends up being really good in a while.

Even a short animation - walking down the steps onto the surface, 5s with a musical flourish - would do the job.
Yeah that’s what I was thinking while writing this video.
I have very little experience with game dev (I do it and other programming as a hobby) but even I could make that.
A simple opening door after the black screen and you then stepping out of the ship would have already been a better Armstrong Moment then what we have.
Yeah it really wouldn’t require that much effort.
It's an obvious solution! Stairs, ladder, cockpit. The rest of your ship is behind a locked door until they flesh it out w/ an additional gameplay repair mechanic or whatever.
... but first they'd have admit they were wrong. What are the odds of that happening?
Yeah that does seem unlikely. But if they did it would be a massive PR win. If they started being more transparent with us about what was happening (apology, possible solution, and future roadmap) the community would be much happier with them.
@@24thcenturygamer Absolutely! If they even just disclosed it was a beta version, no problem. Communication that had details instead of vague promises, mad credit. Instead they promises developer streams, give us a forum post. Then release the perma-ban hammer w/o details on when it will be used, in a locked form post so people can't discuss. (Elite Week has a few people already perma-banned for vague or silly reasons. No trust in them using it responsibly.)
@@jasonbow1926 yeah, there were just so many ways they could’ve handled it better. Any comments I make are it directed at the developers, it is not their fault. It’s the managers and stakeholders who are to blame.
Be nice if they c this and do it!! nice video dude. 07
Yeah, but my channel is pretty small so the chances of this reaching anyone at Fdev are pretty slim.
Like you say they could of easily made it so that most if not all ships would have a specific egress/ingress point. They have, as Braben said, actually been designing ships with interiors in mind after all. The small ships would have been very easy while the big ships all seem to have a lift at the back of each bridge which could of facilitated such a ingress/egress path.
Yeah. Just seems like a lack of effort or a need to push odyssey out the door.
They made it David Blaine Moment
Haha yeah.
They could of done something better. But they can't get capable people they don't pay well and treat staff poorly. According to reviews from former employees that is.
You would think that a game like elite would make enough to pay your devs well, which leads to better quality game which leads to more revenue.
I guess the profit margin was more important.
short answer: They wont :)
Yep, probably.
