Pro tip if you don't have a baiting needle and dont wanna wreck a hook just slide the corn on the hook on the rig, past the barb, and then put the hair rig against the barb and just slide it off the hook
if you don't wanna mangle a hook or you don't have soft enough hooks to bend you can make a baiting needle out of a toothpick really easy and you can even use the same toothpick as ur baitstop if you really want to
Awesome I want to start fishing for carp! Sorry if this is common knowledge but should my leader line be weaker than my mainline so I dont lose my whole rig? I am going to start using method feeders but I dont want to lose them
Normally the mainline is monofilament or fluorocarbon in 12-30lb test while the leader is typically 15-50lb braid or hooklink. I think your best bet is to find a cheap source for method feeders since if you go any lighter with the line you risk losing a carp of a lifetime.
Carp have very sensitive mouths. They go by what they feel. That's why the hair rig is used. They feel only the bait, then swallow the bait and the hook then follows and hooks em. If you put bait on the hook a lot of times they sense it and spit it out. Lots of vids on here that show it.
Way better hook rate with a hair rig. The mechanics of the rig make the hook point drop down and catch a carp's mouth. You hook a carp when they attempt to eject the bait. Having a fully exposed hook point and bend is critical.
This is basically a specialized Carolina rig. The line passes through the weight without taking the weight. The weight is there for keeping the rig still on the bottom of the river/creek and acting as a stop for the leader portion to rest against. Setting the hook is done by rod action and the weight will help set the hook when it's picked up when the slack is taken out of the line.
I'd advise you to use components that are camouflaged, it will land you more carp, light green, dark green, black and lighter shaded blacks, and browns would help you land more fish and I'd use fluorocarbon or camouflage monofilament as your mainline, good luck guys 🇬🇧 ✊🏼
*I bought these and used them at the river where I get snags often they have done a **enjoyable.fishing** recommend great job of not breaking along with some strong line I purchased as well. They are super durable and easy to use.*
I legit just put corn on the hook... works everytime lol. use a catfishrod with a heavty baitcaster, never lost a fish. I use 60-100lb rates swivles aswell. My weight goes on right after the swivel, its simply fixed, and if you snag you can break off at the swivel with your 20lb fluro leader.
This video is intended for beginners of carp fishing. Hope this hair rig tutorial helps you land some big ones!
You're very helpfull
Gonna try it in the morning...🤞
Why is this better than baiting the hook?
@@Pwrcritter I've asked that question too. Still haven't got an answer.
Dude I spent so long looking through tutorials this is by far the best one.
Was about to say the same thing. This video is so nice and clear compared to the rest that I found.
Took me 3 weeks to find a this video been looking for a good video for a minute
Pro tip if you don't have a baiting needle and dont wanna wreck a hook just slide the corn on the hook on the rig, past the barb, and then put the hair rig against the barb and just slide it off the hook
That's actually quite genius.
@@FishingExplained figured why not there's a hook already there and it'll do the same thing as a straightened one
Or use old hooks dummmy
Or use a toothpick, or poke it with mono line… literally anything lol
@@Metal_junk well thats just one easy way to do it with something you’ll definitely be carrying if your fishing lol
Super helpful, way better than the majority of other videos I’ve watched.
Excellent video! Simple, clear and concise instructions with good, detailed photos. Well done!
Absolutely the best video for beginner carp fishers like me, THANK YOU
I've used this tutorial every couple of months for over a year.
Thank you sir
Wow, this was the easiest tutorial I’ve seen and all I need to buy is some braided line. I’m definitely gonna catch that fat pond carp now
so far the best and easy-to-use and to learn knots ive seen in a while 😅🎉
Thanks. I watched several carp fishing videos before I found out the name of the hair rig. I appreciate you making this video.
Great video, I would have never thought of the hook bending thanks!
Thank you for showing me it was st farwared and well explained
Thank you sir, excellent tutorial I will be tying this hair rig in the next few days.
I think you are great at teaching. Very well done. Thank you young man.

That's much better love you videos
smaller crochet hooks from the dollar store are great for bait threaders as well
You are a legend ❤️
It's my first time Carp fishing so I'm going to try this rig out! I'll let you know how it goes!
How did the carp fishing go?
I guess she got busy and didn’t go.
@@JaredBillette I’m watching the video for the first time and wondering how it went lol
Been trying this rig for 2 weeks with a method feeder and lots of bites but can't get em hooked
Said f it and just balled up my pack bait around my hook and caught one while this rig would just get cleaned off
I’ve caught huge bass and crappie wich took so much time and dedication. now I’m on to my Carp and catfish journey.
Same here... and, I have been successful. Thanks to this youtube and for Catfish and Carp - Luke.
@@bwoody6370 so far I’ve learned it’s not me that’s on a catfish journey, it’s the catfish that are on a journey to my stove lol.
me too. in the US, carp fishing is not as popular, but i'm looking to switch things up from the normal bass fishing
Damb you made it look simple. Thank you
GREAT VIDEO! THANKS FOR THE HELP!
Best tutorial ever
How does the firsh get hooked on with out bait on the hook
They just inhale all of it
@@Zaiah420yep.
Can u still bait the hook?
@@Pwrcritter not really
Very informative this gives me a fantastic idea
Quickly question:Do you need to use braid for the hook length or could you just use 10lb mono?
That homemade baiting needle is useful for putting line back through catfish worms too.
Thank you so much Broda 🙌 ......
This may be a dumb question but do you put bait on the hook at all? lol
if you don't wanna mangle a hook or you don't have soft enough hooks to bend you can make a baiting needle out of a toothpick really easy and you can even use the same toothpick as ur baitstop if you really want to
Very good and well explained. A++++++

@@FishingExplained thank you very much!
do you put pack bait around your Sinker or is the pink corn the only bait you use
what do you recommend for main line weight? does it matter if it's high vis or not?
Can i use a braid to braid set up or must it be mono or flouro to braid?
Please tell me the number of the Fox hook...Number 2 seems smaller than the number 2 of other hooks. That's how it is?
Thank you so much for this tutorial I finally learned how to tie a hair rig simple straight to the point 🫡
Would we pull the swivel into the inline lead?
Yes, but some people do like running rigs where the weight is free.
I have a complete beginner question. Can I put corn or boilies directly on the hook for carp or must I do one of these rigs? Thanks.
You can do that however hair rigs have many advantages. Better hook up rate, better hook placement and less likely to get stolen by bluegill.
Thanks for the video help out a lot 👍
Glad it helped
Why do you use what looks like braid as the leader? Couldn't you use fluorocarbon, in which case it would be less visible?
Carp have very sensitive mouths. They go by what they feel. That's why the hair rig is used. They feel only the bait, then swallow the bait and the hook then follows and hooks em. If you put bait on the hook a lot of times they sense it and spit it out. Lots of vids on here that show it.
Carp Rock!!!
This is a great video for beginners.
But why not put the bait directly on the hook insead of having it next to the hook?
Way better hook rate with a hair rig. The mechanics of the rig make the hook point drop down and catch a carp's mouth. You hook a carp when they attempt to eject the bait. Having a fully exposed hook point and bend is critical.
@@FishingExplained there's a lot to learn with carp fishing.
Yup, but it's alot of fun
Thank you!
So the weight is only there to help cast? I thought it was supposed to help set the hook?
This is basically a specialized Carolina rig. The line passes through the weight without taking the weight. That just to help u throw and keep ur rig in the ground so it wont move around
Is this the rig where they hook themselves??
Yes.
Is it possible or worth trying to tie the rig with fluorocarbon and using braid as the main line?
Mainly people us braid as there rig cause its stronger than normal line
But would suggest using braid as ur rig and fluorocarbon as main
While watching this I realized I already knew this like a decade ago and I’m now done relearning the exact same process
I'd advise you to use components that are camouflaged, it will land you more carp, light green, dark green, black and lighter shaded blacks, and browns would help you land more fish and I'd use fluorocarbon or camouflage monofilament as your mainline, good luck guys 🇬🇧 ✊🏼
why is this rig specific to carp? will it catch any other fish?
Because it’s a hair rag meant to catch cop and you put boilers on the hair rig
Thank you very much
*I bought these and used them at the river where I get snags often they have done a **enjoyable.fishing** recommend great job of not breaking along with some strong line I purchased as well. They are super durable and easy to use.*

You said size 2-6 but the package said 5/0, did you mean 2/0-6/0?
Can I do this with mono?
Yes
Works for me at least
Does the leader have to be 50lb ?
16-50lb braid is common for the hook link.
@@FishingExplained using this rig I caught my pb carp!! Thank you for the super easy tutorial
Magic
tying nots with nylon line makes me go insane.
That’s a snell knot on that hook 🪝 good knot though nice rig
Definitely a knotless knot...
I wanted to know how to Tie the hair rig to the line but u skipped that bit right at the end
Очень сильно удивился как ловко из крючка сделал иглу для приманки 😮
People who saying this don’t work it does I tie my own rigs beat me on today cmonnnn🎉
Best carp hook?
Personal preference, but I like fox straight point.
Bruh how tf do you tie that swivel knot I’ve been trying for an hour 😭
You can just use a improved clinch knot
ur hands are in the way of the first step
NOPE A.D.D KICKED IN LOL
This is correct technique but wrong materials.
Elaborate
You dont need a hair rid to catch carp.
Ok? You will catch significantly more if you use one.

Lol, pick a good spot and you will catch carp with this rig. Way more effective than bait placed on the hook.
