The dirt on the commutator would definitely not help they should always be a copper colour not black you wouldn't have been getting a good connection, and I think the white explosion could have been the glue they used to fix the magnets to the outside, casing a bit of over spill great video mate 👍 and the good lady is a keeper 👍
