Thanks for all your lovely comments on this video guys, so happy you are enjoying it! I just wanted to clarify that “success” is of course a relative statement which means different things to different people. The point of the video is simply to share ideas on wearing and rewearing your wardrobe more consciously, because while repeating outfits may not seem significant to some people the sad reality is that most of us only wear about 20% of our wardrobes. Overconsumption is one of the main issues of the fashion industry as it is today, so repeating an outfit (or simply just rewearing your clothes many times) certainly is part of the solution in the process of building a more ethical fashion industry. Also, it leaves out space for you to be more present in other, important things in life; while still feeling like your absolute best. 🙏🏻 // Signe

I am an outfit repeater and I love doing it. I even experienced being bullied because I wear the same clothes all the time. But I don’t mind it. Those people doesn’t matter to me and I don’t need their approval at all. I am wearing what I love and i will wear them over and over again.

I became an obsessive and compulsive buyer over the course of ten years. I didn’t realize it until a few months ago.
I began to turn to shopping as a coping mechanism. My husband was emotionally abusive and all I could do to get away and feel happy was to kill time at thrift shops. I already loved sales so this quickly became part of my life. As the mental and emotional abuse got worse so did my shopping. I filled a walking closet, a coat closet, and the three closets in the spare bedrooms with my treasured finds. My shopping was also a source of contention but I was not able to give it up since it was the only way I was able to cope with the abuse.
I’m now working on healing from that abusive relationship, I hope your videos will help me to learn how to stop this disorder, I know I need to take drastic measures in this area. The task feels overwhelming but I have been able to toss about 100 pounds of clothes by just visualizing your daily basic wardrobe. I have ten more 50 gallon totes to sort through that are in storage but I feel like I have the courage to toss most of it in the weeks to come. Thank you for presenting this concept in such an easy way and for helping me see the big picture of the negative affects over shopping has, not only in my personal life but also on our beautiful planet. You have given the desire to simplify my life. Thank you!

Could you sell your unwanted items and use the income to start the next chapter of your life? And donate the rest to a women's shelter perhaps? Well done from breaking free of your abusive ex. I really recommend a channel called Thrive After Abuse, it's helped me a lot after I left my abusive ex.

I just did shopping my own clothes for autumn. We had a lot of expences, children grew up and needed new jackets etc., wood for heating, school books etc. , and this past year was difficult cause I went through cancer treatment and feel a bit confused about myself at the moment. So, I remembered your advice and had a little fashion show in front of the mirror which showed me that I already have enough of nice things ☺️. Maybe a bit self-conscious about my skinny legs, but I am not a model but a 45 yrs mom 😘

If you have slender legs you can wear tall boots! And white pants / tights. Also contrasting ankle boots. All things thick leg gals avoid ;)

I agree with A. Alberts. I envy you your slender legs! Even when I was a size 3, my calves were too big for even wide-calf boots. I can't wear any tall boots, which is a problem when we have a lot of snow.

Wow. You're on my wavelength. I like to put modest energy into getting dressed. But want to look classy and attractive in lowkey way that makes people feel comfortable. Managing people, I want to appear competent. But the focus is on others and my job duties, professional or personal.

On days that I go into the office I take a few minutes the night before and plan what I’m going to wear. I get to pull out different shoes, and pretty scarves to make use of everything I have. I look put together, feel good and enjoy my day or activities. Special occasions are a breeze as well.

I just had to subscribe, love love your content.

I've struggled for years to find my style and learn how to make an outfit I would feel good in. Usually the videos I found were either about more colourful/ highschool oriented outfits or too serious/too glamour sided. Then I found yours and dearbethany videos and things have changed. I feel always put together either for work or going out with friends and I feel like I finally can express myself and be taken more seriously. I cannot express how thankful I am :)

Not a big commenter but now I HAVE to:
After watching many style consultants content on youtube the past few weeks I am so happy I stumbled over your content!!! Agreeing so much with your well thought after ideas and opinion.
It really is a pleasure to watch your well produced videos. They really are about the topic itself and you don’t put yourself or a brand in the spotlight. Thank you so much for this premium content, Signe! I will definitely binge on your other videos as well soon and love that I don‘t feel like I have to copy someone else or am missing the most important pieces to „belong“ to the well dressed people in the world. ❤❤❤
    End of me praising you.

What I do is I outfit repeat in situations where people don’t overlap and I don’t really take a lot of photos anyway. I guess im lucky I don’t have a huge friend group but instead individual pockets of friends so it works for me. So that’s one thing to try if you do find it hard to recycle outfits and have a mental block about it

Just a couple of weeks ago I was meeting a friend in town and reached out for a dress. Then I remembered I wore that exact dress the last time I saw her. I ended up wearing something else instead.
Funny. I bet she wouldn't have noticed and even if she did, so what? We human beings are funny creatures😊

@@IevaKambarovaite It's interesting, because some research actually suggest that most people wont even recognize it if we wear the same outfit several days, even when it's several days in a row! It of course depends on people an context (people who are very interested in fashion maybe would) but, it does put things in perspective :-) xx

I work in two different workplaces, so it is easy for me to repeat the exact same outfit within the same week, plus again on the weekend when I don't see my colleagues. But I think I do not care anyway. My friends and colleagues know my wardrobe and vice versa. I think actually it is much more normal to have a limited amount of clothing you really like and wear than to have great versatility to impress anybody.

    • @edennis8578
      @edennis8578 2 роки тому

It's easier to repeat outfits when you have solid colors instead of prints, and neutrals are the easiest of all because they don't stand out in people's minds. With a change of accessories, the dress or outfit can look very different. For example, a basic navy or black dress with a contrasting belt will look like a different dress if you switch to a matching belt and vice versa. Then add a scarf or a statement necklace if you wish. Or, what I usually do, I have identical tops in different colors, so I can wear the same jeans or trousers with a different color top and the same jacket.

I worked as a sales manager, on the road. A simple wardrobe, more of a uniform, suit or jacket with different skirts and a trench coat. Getting in and out of a car all day limits the variety. Sometimes a heavy coat is necessary. Therefore wearing pretty much the same thing every day is the result. Individuality saved for evenings and weekends. I think it depends on your occupation!

Second hand clothes usually are pre-washed, pre-shrunk, have the surface wear that we might want to avoid (or show they don’t pill and snag so easily), and generally show what they’ll look like for a few years or more with good care.

As fashion designer what I wear is a way to use creativity, I see people who use the same hair style for over 20 years, also women wearing the same classic style for the last 10 years now they reached the 40´s and perfectly can share their clothes with their mothers and nobody will notice it.
I also know peoplw with a lot of money saving in their clothes, I don´t understand why people can spend a lot of money in their bed sheets as a bed deserves something expensive more than them, I deserve to wear something more expensive than my bed.

Such great ideas :) I’ve also recently started being A LOT more careful when buying things in the last six months ago before id get cheaper on sale things that would have threads and stuff coming off and buying lots even if it didn’t fit right. Now when I shop I put it on and only keep them if I can style them a few ways, are good quality I check for threads and material, i feel good in them or I know I won’t wear it and they make me happy. Have also recently made a Pinterest board for ‘outfits to create’ where I pin outfits with multiple things I already have in my wardrobe that I can shop my stash and recreate makes it good to see what wholes are missing. Still need to do a good declutter thought 😅 I have a list of things on my phone I feel I am missing from my wardrobe too that I can keep an eye out for but if its not on there I know its an impulse and will take more time to consider..

I see your point - it is a sad reality though, that most people only wear around 20% of their wardrobe, maybe even less. So to me, discussing the importance of investing in the right items longterm so you want to wear them over and over again (whether that means wearing 1:1 the same outfits or just being creative with what you have) is important. 👀 overconsumption is one of the main reasons why the fashion industry is so unethical. So outfit repeating may not only be beneficial for you in terms of how you feel, it also benefits and slows down an entire industry. / Signe

No, I don't want to be an outfit repeater because I like variety. I like different colors and materials. I do have my favorite outfits that I repeat though. If a person is into it though, go for it..

I'm huge advocate for doing what you feel most comfortable doing too! Repeating or not :-) xx

Define "Successful"? Do you actually mean "famous" people? Maybe it's their "trademark" look more than deciding what to wear becoming too challenging for them? Whilst I agree one must do their part to be conscious and not buy too much, I still think fashion is fun and is totally optional. Some people are stylish and fashionable, some aren't. Some happen to be famous or "successful" and also boring as far as fashion is concern. It's not a sign of intelligence or success, just a personal preference.

Hi. You could omit the cliche intro "Welcome back to my channel" - this is what most people on youtube say as an into phrase... too trite and worn-out, you are far more intelligent than this. You could just start with whatever you want to say. Great videos and keep up the good work! Cheers :)

I don't understand why everyone thinks they are fashion icons who can make UA-cam videos on whatever they want to talk about
