I have similar but not quite the same uniforms for each season. I always look forward to the 'new' uniform for the upcoming season. Today is the first really cold day here in Germany (after unusually warm days for November). Already waiting for the knit dress + tights + boots to be worn pretty much all season. 😀
I definitely have outfits that I repeat; band tee with jeans and converse. What I have trouble with: pieces in my wardrobe that I'm unsure of (do I wanna keep this? Maybe I should keep this in case ? Maybe I'll wear this later ? Not sure what to do with these pieces..
A huge part of me finding my uniform is ignoring influencers or limiting the ones I follow. I know I way prefer oversized tops, fitted bottoms, and some sort of loafer, boot, or sandal. I get frustrated when the “trends” or influencers keep telling me what I’m wearing is “outdated.” I want more classic pieces while maintaining that formula. It’s very frustrating.
i feel you 100%. that's pretty much my outfit formula as well. i try to remind myself that unfollowing people is ok, i tell myself "when did you allow all these opinions to live rent free in your head?? unfollow."
Why even following influencers when you don't know them personally (I suppose) and their style is so different to yours? What do you get from it besides frustration? Unfollow all you can and ignore the bs!
What I found helpful in figuring my style uniform is focusing on things that I didn’t like on the outfits that I wore. Maybe it’s just me but I had a hard time answering the question “what do you like in this outfit?”. But when I focused on what I didn’t like, it helped narrow down my closet considerably and with fewer options, I began to slowly figure out what feels like a me outfit through process of elimination.
I've started to think about wardrobe as a "support system" for who I really am. I'm finding that I can repeat combinations without feeling negative ("boring") because the combos I'm choosing are an extension of me--and I'm not boring :-).
My uniform is cardigans. I can be wearing most things and the moment I pop on a cardigan it’s like a sigh of relief…… now I look like me!! I have all of the main Color’s and a few pops of colour too! ❤
I was in a color fatigue funk when I started adding various shades of green each season this year - not a lot, just a top or a bottom or a layering piece - but that has made a real difference for me enjoying my clothing routine. I also removed some grays and styles that really didn’t do much for me. A touch more color has made me excited about my small wardobe again.
This is so helpful! I grabbed a journal and pen to write down some quotes from this video, and then sit down and really think through what is my style uniform. I love loose flowy pants that are high waisted, with a top that is tighter fit - but then layer over a "security blanket" for sure! I haven't considered using button up shirts for that, but will definitely be doing that more now that I know! This video was super helpful and very practical. It would be fun if you did "consultation" videos where you took somebody through the process of working out their style uniform? Maybe do a few different ones, with different styles.
I'm so over trends. I've come around to just sticking with my personal uniform of loose tshirt in white or grey, straight leg raw denim jeans in blue or black and a cardigan, usually long with some chelsea boots or sneakers. Love your content and encouragement of discovering your personal style.
I have found my style uniform. I am a recovering shopaholic myself and had a real problem with buying what was trendy or what someone I didn’t know recommended something. My uniform is: black leggings (daily haha - they are pants rifght?!) dark loose fit tank top and a long cardigan. I’m a bit of a V shape so this style makes me feel so comfortable and confident. Great video 😊
This was so helpful, Christina! Not only were the tips helpful but also validating. Sometimes I feel like a cartoon character when I wear the same outfit formula season after season. It makes me question whether or not I'm being creative/care enough about what I wear but this video made me realize that yes, I do care. Feeling much more confident about repeating outfits and continuing to establish my uniform. Thanks!
I love the examples you used! You could even argue the style uniform has helped to make these people style icons because of their consistency and recognizability
This year I have started shopping for my style uniform instead of my fantasy self and what a difference! I'm so excited to finally buy clothes that I love and wear all the time. I can't believe how long it took me to understand why I kept buying things I didn't wear. Thank you a thousand times Christina for all your videos ❤
The scene from the Lizzie McGuire movie "Lizzie you're an outfit repeater!" Really did a number on us 😂 love this video so much! Really helpful, and reassuring!
Longish skirts and dresses are my go to. Yesterday I unpacked all my winter wear and got reunited with everything. Today I wore my chanel inspired jkt with a wardrobe repeat skirt and pumps. Two of my students said how great I looked and how great I always look!!! Well, that made my day! I put a lot of effort into what I wear, am a conscious consumer and feel comfortable in everything I have. To get that kind of a compliment is the icing on the cake!! Bring on the cold season!! And thanks for your videos! You inspire me!
You made us a Notion template?!? Christina, I loved you first when you said you were a reformed compulsive shopper. Even more when you said you're a pharmacist, and now Notion?! 😍
I’m a basic T-shirt and jeans chick and depending on weather add a layer. On the weekends I’ll wear some sort of printed tees and jeans sneakers. For work, I currently work in a casual environment as a child therapist…so I’m in “nicer”sneakers, jeans and a plain colored neutral T-shirt. I live in Southern California where there’s not much change in seasons tbh. In the winter I’ll do a jacket or cardigan for work, hoodie on weekends. I wear plaid button ups all year round, change up the ones I wear depending on fabric. Linen tops I wear during warm spring and summer months. Trying to reduce the amount of tees I have …but I love and wear them all lol 😅
I love this. A few years ago when I was struggling with illness, this really helped me get dressed and feel okay, (if not good) about myself everyday because I was comfortable and knew what I was wearing looked good on me. It took away so much decision fatigue. I wore a tunic, leggings, and an open waterfall cardigan every day. Now that I am in better health, I have branched out a bit, but I definitely still embrace the concept of a style uniform (it's become so natural now, I don't even really think about it). I find that days when I try something "new" that's not really in the uniform, those are the days I feel not as great about my look.
I love this ! I’ve been figuring out my style uniform over the last year or so largely by looking at pictures of myself on days that I felt awesome over the last decade. Essentially it’s always jeans or trousers, a t shirt (usually white or tan) and a statement jacket and bold accessories. Now there’s really no desire to buy anything outside of that because it doesn’t feel like me.
Great video! If you prefer a bit more variety like I do, you can stick to the same principle but multiply it. Right now I have 4 go-to formulas to choose from depending on the occasion or my mood. Great point about changing things up with jewellery and makeup to keep things fresh and new. I have also invested in other kinds of accessories such as patterned tights, long socks, legwarmers, belts, hats and sunglasses - it's a great feeling to know that you can make a seemingly infinite number of outfit-combinations without needing to buy new clothes :)
I wear a uniform for work. I do struggle with the evening and weekends trying to find my style, I have bought many trend led items and items which influencers say are “essential”. Thank you for the insight into your style, and personal struggles with this subject. Love Lesley England xx
Would love to see you collab with other youtubers - being in their closet, finding out how they live essentially, what their seasonal wardrobes are, maybe even helping them decide a seasonal wardrobe based on their unique style! :)
I like this. I'm pregnant right now, so wardrobe changes will have to wait for a little longer, but you've given me some really good ideas. I've had some issues narrowing down personal style in the past, but I feel like this video really simplified the concept for me. Thank you!
I definitely have a uniform for work, since I try to sleep in as much as possible lol. I'm usually wearing a blouse with a cute/floral pattern or in a solid color and slim black pants. Loafers or slides in the summer, black booties in the winter. Sometimes I'll switch it up and wear a sweater since offices are freezing.
Thank you so much! I am learning so much from you. I have been getting dressed with some effort everyday and I'm coming up with a bunch of new outfit combinations that I LOVE. I've really accepted how much I love big bold patterns as well as wearing all black. I have a few different syles depending on my mood and it has been so fun to play with them!🙏🏼💖
Nice to know that I already have multiple style uniform! My bad habit is definitely buying clothes for my ideal self, which I'll just end up never wearing
I seem to have 2 styles uniforms going in each season. For example, black pants/ charcoal jeans and a blouse and ballerina flats. I also love midi bias cut skirts with a fitted top, so a different silhouette. In winter , I like jeans/ pants with sweater and a coat/ trench but also a flowing skirt with an oversized sweater and ankle boots, which is different from warmer months.
This is hands down THE Best video about finding your style. Broken down into a easy to follow experiment. Starting today!! Thank you, thank you! This has been a challenge and frustration for so long.
It's so funny you identified the "Christina outfit" because the other day I put on jeans, a t-shirt, and a blazer and thought to myself, "accidental Christina Mychas cosplay" 😄
I loved this video! I get bored very easily if I dont have a variety. I have o wear casuals at work but on other days I love dressing up well and with care. And I have stopped following influencers who keep telling us to buy new stuff every week! I wear what I like, the way I like to and what I can afford.
My style uniform is a pair of black ankle cropped trousers (I have five pairs) with Doc Martens Chelsea boots with black camisole or a colorful button down shirt. I always add a long soft cardigan or colorful kimono as contrast. This gives me so many options. I am a teacher and I want to be comfortable because the classrooms are always either too hot or too cold. But in the summer I only wear the Somerset dresses from anthropologie with brown ankle boots.
I'm so glad this popped up in my feed, because I was walking around genuinely felt good in what I was wearing today. I thought about how this question of what my style is comes up so often. Even though the answer periodically pops up, I for some reason ignore it so I have a more complex or interesting answer? I'm wearing cuffed mom jeans, vivo barefoot sneakers (saved my knees and my back), a plain tshirt (today untucked), and an earthy toned knitted sweater of high quality. I always wear 2-3 solid gold pirate shackle earrings on my right ear. I'm short. elements: mom jeans/pants plain cotton tee knitted pullover sweater minimalist unchonky sneaks heavy looking gold on one ear middle part or messy bun I feel seen by myself. writing all this out I realize why so many of my other pieces just don't feel as good. Like cool minimal pants, that dont have the same boxy strength of vintage denim. Any tips on how to dress this up tho? I think that might be why I still "explore" with my style. It's the definition of workshop art ho
Christina, this is SO great. I have a style uniform (I think it’s the same as yours…….love the security of a layering piece!) and I’m so happy wearing/using it. It’s nice to know people like you, who I consider are a lot more savvy than me, condone this approach to dressing. I always love your videos😍
This makes me feel at ease. Sometimes I ask myself if I look like Im actually wearing a uniform after working hours. I live in the Caribbean so I could take advantage of this and use all those cute short skirts , dresses etc etc but..I dont 🤷🏻♀️. I always end up going for a semi- fitted t shirt or short sleeve button down, straight or tappered high- waisted jeans , cotton shorts and if I can- I add a blazer. I feel comfortable in those garments for some reason
I always look forward to seeing a new video post from you! It is always encouraging to see your thought process. Also, loving your make up recently! Very pretty :)
In the fall months my go to uniform is a plain or graphic T-shirt with an oversized plaid flannel button down shirt layered over that, jeans; in black or medium wash and boots or sneakers. Sometimes I'll wear a sweater or a long sleeve stripe shirt. But I love my plaid, especially in the Fall.
My uniform is a long drapey top or dress. On top of tights or skinny jeans. If I wear a layer it is also long and drapey. I switch out my shoes and jewellery depending on how I feel. My clothes are simple silhouettes with not a lot of detail. And I do not focus on waist emphasis. I've been working on my capsule wardrobe for about 4 years. And I'm really happy with my clothes now.
Thank you for this great video! I too am obsessed with layering pieces; I never leave home without a jacket of some sort. I love your channel, Christina, keep up the great work! 💖
I have found it helpful to have a summer and a winter style uniform. Summer: jeans, tee and button down. Winter: stretchy skirt, long sleeved top and thick tights.
I've been tracking my outfits for about 4 months now and my most worn outfits and items are not what I expected, or even my favourite clothes! They are just the most functional day to day.
I finally realized that I have some kind of uniform. It’s usually shirt-pullover-trousers-boots or more playful items like overall-T shirt-sneakers in spring & summer. I also finally found out the colours I like best. I’ll be travelling with limited items soon, perhaps tracking my outfits would be great as reference for future trips!
*since you asked, my style uniform "slider":* blazer / leather moto / pea coat silk tank / T / button up / turtle black denim / black trousers / black skirt leather pointed toe / combat boots
This is the best video on this topic that I have seen. It has taken me awhile but I feel I know my style uniform now. Have been working on it for 6 years. My problem now is getting rid of those items I don’t want but are perfectly good. I have already taken a lot to Goodwill but dang …. Some of the stuff in my closet was expensive .
Are you the same when it comes to fragrances as about style and makeup? Do you have a few that you rotate or do you like to try out new ones? I think that the perfume that you wear can be the thing that can add so much to an outfit. Love your videos
Make ip I’d say so! It’s usually the same and my glam is red lipstick 😂 I don’t really wear fragrance but I agree if you can tolerate fragrance or your workplace allows (mine doesn’t) it can def be part of your signature!
I’ve got the top half of my body figured out but not the bottom! Large gold hoop earrings, fine gold necklace, strappy top, open button up with the sleeves rolled, fun bracelets/bangles. I was happy with pants for winter (mostly wide leg) but now it’s super hot here and I don’t know if I want to commit fully to shorts for all situations. And my shoes vary drastically depending on situation!
Finding a style uniform has saved me a lot of money because I do not feel the constant need to shop. It's usually jeans, with a bodysuit, fitted top or sweater. I accessorize which gives each outfit a unique look.
Actually, I think I may try this, now that I‘ve seen so many videos on capsule wardrobe and never quite getting the gist of it. I suppose I know what the outcome will be, but even though I know my favourite pieces, I often feel insecure about how to style them or about the overall look. The idea to track it with my phone and a separate album sounds like it might help… 👍🏻
Hi Christina! I also have noticed that I need to have a layering piece to feel secure, although mine is typically a flannel or cardigan. I was wondering, how do you navigate the need for a layering piece when its hot out?
Great video! I haven't thought about my style uniform before but this video made me think about it and I realised I don't have one, however I will definitely try this out!
Hi there 👋 First time commenting but I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your content.... Especially since you already have a full time job. This is definitely your purpose girl, keep up the great content. I always look forward to it and appreciate it.
OMG, i just told my bf "Ah, I want to get some new clothes, I'm so bored wearing the same outfit every day" before I opened youtube and saw this video. Suuper useful. I've been wearing the exact same combination (black pants and one of three jumpers) in the past 2.5 years. I'd say this combination has been my style uniform I feel maybe it is changing now. The jumpers I thought were cool 2.5 year ago, now feel too baggy, not me. So maybe style uniforms can also change over time? I have to discover what my new style uniform is, and I'm wondering how to do that sustainably? I mean I need some new shapes / textures in my closet to experiment...but not sure which ones. maybe buying second hand (eg blazers to get away from jumpers) see how it feels for a few weeks, and if it feels me, invest in a quality piece? dunno. any ideas? love your videos, I'm always learning something new
A worthy episode! I have a sense of your style from watching your videos. This one brings it to the conscious level. You can analyze other style youtubers’ personal style, too. Two on top of my mind would be itsyuyan and Alyssa Beltempo. They both have a consistent personal style that works for them and their viewers. I am sure you can pick out their style and signature pieces just by watching their outfit videos :)
When I started to find my dream clothes and clothes I love, I came to brand new issue: I don't know what to wear because I want to wear everything because I love it all. Only occasion I don't have sth to wear is at a bar, not a pub, a bar. I threw out all my going out clothes in last two years and I didn't have reason to get new ones and now I don't have any. I need to get one that works.
Hey! Christina you are such a inspiration for me and I really love your vlogs so so much you are my inspiration and I wish you reach 200K Subscribers very very soon!✨☺️💞
Since I started to work in home office my style uniform is.... home wear and pijamas. Still have loooots of office outfits in my closet that I no longer "have" to use.... really do not know what to do with those pieces... my style changed completely since the beginning of the pandemic 😕
My style uniform is super casual and actually 2 uniforms: A) Summer, B) Autumn, Winter, Spring. My statement piece is a scarf/shawl. Whenever I leave the house, I wear or carry a scarf or shawl. My summer uniform [A] is: Tank top, capris or leggings, thong sandals - thin hoodie sweater for A/C. For medical appointments I wear a dress + blazer. My other seasons uniform [B] is: 3/4 sleeve Tee, silk tank [undershirt], pants or leggings, merino wool socks, long hoodie sweater, utility jacket, infinity scarf, trainers or boots for snow/rain. I really LIKED THAT YOU did not mess with your hair. So many other youtubers constantly flick, smooth, or fuss with their hair - which I find so annoying. I subbed...tfs
Have to laugh. I’m in Perth (Australia) for Christmas and it was 37 degrees C today so there’s absolutely no chance of a third layer! Not in an Australian summer! I’m not sure exactly what my style uniform is now. It’s definitely mostly separates although I do like dresses for special occasions and especially when it’s hot in summer. I’d call myself a jeans and t-shirt girl but it’s too hot for that at the moment. Having said that, I’m on holidays and I’m working with a holiday capsule of about 20 pieces at the moment. A lot of my style element is about colour. I’m a winter but I don’t don’t really suit white or red and I tend to stay away from hot pink too as I have rosacea. So my wardrobe is all about bright blues and greens, navy, black and white bottoms. Over the last week I’ve been wearing lightweight fitted pants with t-shirts or a bright green linen skirt with a black or navy top. I also wear lots of linen and cotton, for comfort in the heat and to add texture. I do sometimes wear monochrome black or navy outfits but often it’s about colourful separates worn with other bright colour or with black or navy. I think my style uniform is about colour as well as the actual pieces I wear.
It is hard for me to pick a style uniform, what I like to wear changes with no particular style. I have stopped random shopping and I think that will be a big help.
What I HAVE to wear for work (must be black, white, red or grey, no denim) is significantly different from non work wear (denim, colorful, boho, athletic). So would it be best to have two capsules?
Great video, really made me start thinking of my own "uniform", which I didn't realize I had until now! 😄 Thanks for the Notion template too, will definitely do some experimenting here...
Christina, I think I have purchased online about six pair of black high waisted flow we pants like the ones you have on toward the end of your video at about 11 minutes or so… Or maybe a little bit after… Could you please give me the link for those? You have your black blazer on and a white T-shirt! Thank you in advance!
Sofia Coppola is a really good example of someone who has a style uniform. Her colour palette is neutrals, and most of the time she's wearing her black cigarette trousers with black strappy heels, a classic looking coat, and an elegant top. Her hair and makeup is also almost always the same. She 100% knows what works for her and hasn't strayed from it in years. She's the coolest.
How do you find your uniform if your level of formality changes constantly? I work in a business-casual office and an office where I'd get comments for dressing that nicely, I spend a considerable amount of time on farms, and I'm heading to college soon. I'm really trying not to buy a new wardrobe for every new job or place, but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to establish a personal style when my lifestyle keeps changing.

Hope it’s been going well!? X
It's so funny you identified the "Christina outfit" because the other day I put on jeans, a t-shirt, and a blazer and thought to myself, "accidental Christina Mychas cosplay" 😄
😂😂 omg I’m dying that’s hilarious ❤️❤️
I'm short.
elements:
mom jeans/pants
plain cotton tee
knitted pullover sweater
minimalist unchonky sneaks
heavy looking gold on one ear
middle part or messy bun
I feel seen by myself. writing all this out I realize why so many of my other pieces just don't feel as good.
These are my favorite kind of videos you make. What a style uniform banger! Thank you for the template ❤
Yes!
This was so informative! I l love the wedding outfit with the red lipstick. Everything looked great on you. This was helpful 😌
I've been tracking my outfits for about 4 months now and my most worn outfits and items are not what I expected, or even my favourite clothes! They are just the most functional day to day.
That’s what I found when I tracked mine for a year!
love your channel sm christina! been watching all your channel’s vids and feel like i have learned so much. thank you x100 for your awesome work!
Mine is rockstar grunge….booties/boots, interesting jeans, and an oversized band tee or screen print tee!
I love to see what other people’s uniforms, looks or formulas are. I need inspiration. Especially with business casual-for work-no jeans.
I’m filming some outfit formulas this weekend!
Thanks, and washable, I’m an educator.
I have different stile uniforms for spring, summer oder winter... 🌷
I love this so much you are always so helpful and sweet to watch! Thank you for all the work you put into your videos!! ❤
My style uniform is basically like Steve Jobs: Black long sleeve top, jeans and sneakers. Never get tired of it and I always feel very confident.
*since you asked, my style uniform "slider":*
blazer / leather moto / pea coat
silk tank / T / button up / turtle
black denim / black trousers / black skirt
leather pointed toe / combat boots
This is the best video on this topic that I have seen. It has taken me awhile but I feel I know my style uniform now. Have been working on it for 6 years. My problem now is getting rid of those items I don’t want but are perfectly good. I have already taken a lot to Goodwill but dang …. Some of the stuff in my closet was expensive .
I hear you! You can always store them for a while and pull out what you miss. The moneys long gone, remember! ❤️
T-shirt, trousers (or jeans), layering piece (cardigan or sweater)
SO GOOD. So inspiring! I’d love to see a video breaking down others’ uniforms more in-depth.
Coming up!
Christina I love this video! Mine is pleated pants, button up and a blazer ☺️
This is one of my favorite videos of yours yet!! So helpful!
Eeee so glad!!
My uniforms are T- shirts, jeans, blazers and buttons up( men’s) lol
LOVED this video! I also use layering pieces as a security blanket. And a baseball cap lol.
I love these styling videos!!
Such a helpful video! I'll definitely be putting this into practice
Thank you so much!
Thank you very much, your videos are really inspiring and I started already reorganizing my wardrobe and finding my own style. :)
Love this!!! Thank you 😊 💓
Since I started to work in home office my style uniform is.... home wear and pijamas. Still have loooots of office outfits in my closet that I no longer "have" to use.... really do not know what to do with those pieces... my style changed completely since the beginning of the pandemic 😕
This was an excellent video. Loved it
Love your videos! Your advice is so applicable to my life and you make so much sense. ❤❤❤
I will need to try that :D I'm so excited to see what I will come up with :D
Great instructional video
This is so helpful, thank you so much 😊💗
Is it alright to have a few outfits that "break" the style uniform? Or should it stay strict?
Omg of course! There’s no rules except that your wardrobe should be fun and make you feel good ❤️
The blazer or jacket you have in your picture. Black and white stribes and some in colors. Where is it from? Thank you 😊
Anine Bing! It’s a few years old now!
I think the algorithm worked out well. I came across your channel! :) New subbie here!
Thank you for being here! ❤️
Help! You had a video on how you care for your jeans and that you very seldom wash them. I cannot find that video. Would you link it for me? Thank you
It was Matt d’avellas video on why he never washes his jeans! But I learned it myself from iggy pop haha 😂
What I HAVE to wear for work (must be black, white, red or grey, no denim) is significantly different from non work wear (denim, colorful, boho, athletic). So would it be best to have two capsules?
Totally! Whatever works for you in your everyday!!
Great video, really made me start thinking of my own "uniform", which I didn't realize I had until now! 😄 Thanks for the Notion template too, will definitely do some experimenting here...
Have fun!!
First time coming in the channel so fast😅
Great content, so succinct.
Christina, I think I have purchased online about six pair of black high waisted flow we pants like the ones you have on toward the end of your video at about 11 minutes or so… Or maybe a little bit after… Could you please give me the link for those? You have your black blazer on and a white T-shirt! Thank you in advance!
They’re from Djerf Ave - the favorite pant!
Please make an episode about Female Formal University outfits
Hi Christina. What are you doing, when it's too hot for a layering piece. Thanks. Judith
Usually a tank or tee and I often cover up with a cotton or linen button up bc I hate the sun! Haha
I think mine is an a line midi skirt and shirt with a blazer.
Thank you😊
