  • Today we're back under the rear end of another drag car that came to us with a blown up GM 12 bolt. As you can see, this isn't a car that's likely driven gently, so parts failures happen! No problem, we've been through the GM 12 Bolt Rebuild process many many times and have all the tools and knowledge to get this in and out, back ready for the track in no time!
As one of the premiere independent automotive shops in the Ohio region, we are incredibly flattered and appreciative of those who bring their vehicles to us for service. Race Car maintenance is serious business that requires serious trust, thank you for trusting us to get your rides right!

Let the air out of the slicks. Then unbolt the coil overs. To take a tire off. Got it.

You can build a bullet prof12 bolt just a good as a ford 9 inch racers just like the way you can switch the whole pinion

Why still a 12 bolt, I just don't understand. They are somewhat fragile and this needs a more robust rear end.

I understand your comment and it is well founded - a Ford 9" is a brute piece & takes a ton of force to break one. The negative take off of a 9" is overall weight & a noticeable increase in parasitic drag on the driveline. A fabricated housing can help with the weight, but at a price. In class racing with my Ford stuff, a well built & braced 8.8" saves weight & has much less parasitic drag on the driveline, i.e. better ET - you are correct, there is a time & T/Q level that mandates a more robust differential, but I would never doubt Rich's set up on making that 12 bolt live - for anyone that reads this, I truely hope your tomorrow is better than today ! Be well...

@@rolliefoster2837 I appreciate your opinion, this might work. How will it work long term and at what cost? I like the debate this allows. I have dealt with many drivelines, what is your opinion on many different setups. This is important to understand everyones opinion!

Hey David ! Thanks for seeing my post - answering your question is like teaching someone to 'waltz dance' with a partner on a tight rope ! All good, my friend, it is a fine line for every combination. For my car, I make everything as light as possible & add weight...where the car wants it...& meet tech inspection - cost vs. duration ? I dont have anything that makes over 800 hp so I'm the wrong guy to ask ! Hoskinson's are making quite a bit more than that with the Falcon & only a ring & pinion swap in the 8.8" after beating on that car for 2 seasons...my junk is probably okay ! Best of luck to you !
