Good point. I noticed that something wasn't quite right with my late mom and scheduled an appointment with her doctor for her. She was in the early stage of Alzheimer's. By the later stages, some pretty serious and quite noticeable behavior and personality changes take place.
My father just refused to see that my mother had dementia, he wouldn't help her at all, and allowed her to wander about outside on her own in an extremely vulnerable condition. He refused all help from me, saying he could manage perfectly well alone, but I had to take over and get her into a place where she would be properly cared for by trained carers with the right equipment to help her. At one point he even complained that she hadn't cooked his favourite meal for him for a long time. It was always all about him, not my sick mother.

They've covered people who had no money and were living with other people and were sending their social security checks. I'm sure there are also people who steal from others. Scammers will take anything they can get.
I totally disagree that this has to do with age or online dating. I am 66, and I do online dating occasionally. At one point this guy that I was communicating with asked for 80.00 dollars after just two weeks of texting --- and my response was..."Do I have stupid written on my forehead? He immediately hung up the phone and never heard from him again, and of course he deleted his profile. So it has nothing to do with age or online dating...it is called being foolish. Ladies, if the guy it's too young and handsome...most likely it is a fake. Same thing applies for the Gentlemen. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true 98% of the time it is not. Everyone, stop giving your money away to scumbags...think about your future instead.
@Feather Heather Yes, that's correct. But I think that regardless of how the person looks like, they shout stop communication as soon as they ask for money...of course this is my opinion. :)
Online daters need to print out a photo of a Nigerian, frame it, leave it by their phone, and look at it every time they log into their favorite dating site!
Man it’s so hard having someone in your family with Alzheimer’s. I saw my grandmother from start to end and took care of her for about 5 years until she needed 24/7 care. Broke my heart seeing her as she got worse. We had a lot of good memories though and that’s what I cherish so so much.
i know. so many who are obese, and how about the men and women who have teeth missing. there was one old lady smacking gumming her non teeth. it was gross. the whole conversation was smack smack smack. and they were all thinking that surgeons, young beautiful physically fit men were in love with them? i mean i seriously could NOT ever kiss or be intimate with anyone who doesnt take care of their teeth. i mean everyone sees our teeth, if people dont take care of their teeth what is the rest looking like? ugh. i dont want to know!
@@BeccasaurousRex270He was scared and probably embarrassed to boot. He mentioned in the video that he’s already paid them back. His intention can’t be compared to a professional scammer.
I feel bad that he doesn't realise the chances are that his ex didnt fall out of love with him but was drastically changed by dementia. It would be good for his sake if a counselor or medical professional could explain this to him.
Yes I’m surprised a counselor/medical professional didn’t explain it. Dementia radically changes a person. My uncle’s girlfriend ended up with dementia, and it radically changed her. Before dementia, she was a nice lady who was crazy about my uncle. After dementia, one minute she was loving to my uncle, and the next minute, she would turn violent and repeatedly hit him.
I feel like there is more to his back story. Maybe her family took her away due to the dementia because he wasn’t taking care of her properly. I can’t imagine any person coming home and someone saying I am leaving and the other person going”ok”. There is way more to this story. He may seem like a nice guy on video but I am not buying his story.
How could a partner be so detached that they could not see the mental decline of their partner . Stage 3 dementia is so far advanced that it would be impossible to mask.
Denial is powerful. My mom went undiagnosed longer than I'd like to admit due to being resistant to testing, and sometimes the disease can slowly build before taking a rapid decline in a short period of time.

Did John say the scammer began asking for money after 7 days?! Sounds like a new record. Bad enough to give money away to someone you've never met, but after a week?
I know one a scammer who talked to me in less than a week, and wanted me to give him his WhatsApp number. I said no. He wanted a gift card, but I said no. I blocked him and next thing I know, the profile is gone. They disappear either by being blocked or their profile is removed.
This is the first person you’ve covered who realistically looks like he could anticipate dating someone who looked like the catfish. Like they are in the same age range and she looks like she would actually talk to him in real life.
Why do people feel like they don't need to grieve a broken relationship and jump right into another one. Crazy stuff. No way they would let you pose like that for a drivers license
A Driver's license would never have a photo of someone posing, that would have been rejected instantly. it's just as rigourous as a passport when it comes to a photo.
Love your channel and finding your comments in the most niche parts of UA-cam. The photo is so bad (not the picture itself but as an ID photo), I have to wonder how anyone could view it and go “looks good“. I doubt any country would allow photos like that on their driver’s license. I’m not sure what the experience is like in the UK but here in the US no one feels like smiling that much after waiting in line at the DMV. Plus it needs to be head on, it’s an ID not a Glamour Shots photo. It also looks like the UK icon on top is a little crooked as well.
😆 Like all these scams, the scammer apparently didn't have access to their bank account......which begs the question, how did they get the screenshot to begin with. Big fat red flag 🚩 there. I agree he was desperate to believe
So I went down the rabbit hole 😂 I've been watching these videos all day, and I just can't wrap my head around this. How do these people get dooped out of THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS from these scammers? I guess love and lonliness can make you do crazy things, but I have a feeling we'll see fewer cases like this as time goes on. Most people my age or younger know better than to believe someone who can't video chat, or Skype, zoom, SOMETHING! At least I hope so.
Sometimes I think the chance to run into a scammer at a dating site is 90% when you are over a certain age. 🙄 It's already hard for us to meet new people and these stupid 💩 make it so much harder.
I’m sorry to say but many of these older people aren’t so wise when it comes to online dating. They’re so naive believing everything they’re told and all the fake promises and not properly vetting them and being too trusting in giving money 💵
Yes, loneliness sucks as we age! No doubt! Yet, dating sites suck more! I've tried the It's Our Time! And lot's of waste of time. Plenty of scammers! I guess the best places to meet people is to get involved in Church activities - (however that may resonate for you); join the gym; get out there; talk to people; get involved in community activities; such as volunteering with different events; etc., Do healthy activities and meet people. Never know. Even though the Internet is something we use daily, people willing to take advantage of us are everywhere! So when we teach our kids to be cautious on the web, we need to take our own advice. 🙂
98% of the likes i get on a datingapp (lovoo) are scamers and i am in my 20s. At least I assume its scamers as they either disappear after a day or two from the "likes you" Page or give you their WhatsApp right away (fun to mess with those like "i am a serialkiller on the run - give me your wa so i can come and kill you" when they use an obv fake Foto though - and yes they do give their wa at the first message even after this) Never bothered to write any of those on wa.. maybe i should use a voip aswell and try it one day to see if they get stranded on an oil rig or sth xD

Thank you for sharing this. This is definitely another example of a vulnerable person who easily fell for a romance scam. The victim is usually a middle-aged or older woman, but this was a good example that men are just as vulnerable as women. The best thing to do if one loses one’s partner through death or divorce/breakup (especially if one didn’t initiate it) is to get counseling to learn how to cope with the loss and how to be content in one’s own company.
NO, the victims are predominatly men! But women talk about what happened to them MUCH much easier and are generaly socialy less conditioned to hide what happened to them out of shame.

I don't know about this whole story. Perhaps the wife did have dementia, and perhaps it did lead her to becoming confused or forgetting things to where she would call the cops for some reason. However, the way he states it, is that just after 22 years, my wife called the cops and had me escorted out. That sounds and seems fishy. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but there is probably a backdrop of mistreatment or abuse in the relationship from one or both sides. Edit: In regards to my first point, the fact that he hasn't been in contact with his family for 20 years is pretty telling. For that family to still lend him money, they must be very good family, and he probably did something to lose their favor. The people in these stories are probably not the best kind of people. That is so sad. Man, these people are definitely not the brightest either. There are so many red flags... Do they really have the self-confidence that these rich and good-looking people will actually love them and move that fast with them lol? Come on, we are not living in fairy tales. It's either great self-confidence, or complete unfounded vanity. Also, all the websites these scammers are sending are made with simple HTML, CSS, and possibly Javascript. They are very amateur websites at best, and any poking around on the site would reveal as much. STOP BEING SO DESPERATE PEOPLE!
Firstly I the cops escorted HER out. NOT HIM. Secondly, the 20 years might have been because of the woman he was with. Thirdly, the woman in the scam isn't all that good looking, she looks normal and like someone he could actually date, not an instagram model. He was vulnerable yes, but he has come clean about everything he did and paid people back etc.
These people are not "BEING CATFISHED." They willingly take the bait, even f*ing over their your family to feed their own ego. THEY did this to themselves.
No, it doesn't. He genuinely (stupidly but still genuinely) thought he was getting paid right back. That's not the same level of "scammer". It wasn't right but it certainly was not with criminal/malicious intent for purposes of gain and greed that a scammer is motivated by.

It would be good for his sake if a counselor or medical professional could explain this to him.
I was thinking the same.

98% of the likes i get on a datingapp (lovoo) are scamers and i am in my 20s.

I'm English; that is not a real British driving licence, she doesn't look like a serial killer for a start.
Firstly I the cops escorted HER out. NOT HIM. Secondly, the 20 years might have been because of the woman he was with. Thirdly, the woman in the scam isn't all that good looking, she looks normal and like someone he could actually date, not an instagram model. Bottom line is, always check out people you’re talking to online. There are so many tools available for this very purpose. No one is who they say they are, until they actually are!!!!
Plus, a good rule of thumb is that when someone asks for money, tell them you were about to ask them for money for something that just happened in your life. They'd be gone in a heartbeat!

@The mysterious Miss X It’s a turn of phrase. No need to be so literal…and yeah, there are many ways to vet a person to determine if they’re real.
This man was a scammer with his own family. He fell for a romance scammer and defrauded his own family while at the same time saying he felt nothing for them.
FINALLY someone who "questioned" things and called the scammer out on it. If only people would DOUBT everything they get texted, emailed or phone in life. Doubt everything until you check into it. This would save 99% of victims from "believing" what their scammer says...
I love how these people decide to research their online lovers AFTER sending thousands of dollars 😂
Not surprised. Sharing post immediately.......from the Ozarks
This is why you just can't loan money to family members.
You can… just not him
He scammed his family he lied to them. I question his trustworthiness
@@TWCAlex802 I'm guessing you don't get my point after watching this video.
Yup. If someone needs help with a bill or something I’ll offer to pay it directly myself and then make arrangements for them to pay me back if needed. Otherwise the only nonsense I’m funding is my own lol.
I loaned family friends a very small amount. I finally had to ask them for it directly and even had to go pick it up. Never again to anyone ever.
This is really sad for so many reasons. I can’t imagine borrowing money and getting into debt to send money to a stranger I’ve never met. He knew deep down that something wasn’t right with Ava but he just didn’t want to believe it. If she has a business and money in her bank account, why would she have needed to ask for money from him? It’s more like an addiction/ obsession rather than love. I do feel sorry for him though and wish him the best.
I’ve come to the conclusion that this phenomenon is a genuine addiction.
He said he lied to his family and fabricated a con to get money from them. He did not simply borrow money from them. It’s not sad. He treated them like trash and Kharma was swift
Cheaters like this deserves what's coming to them... But people need to stop being so naive 😩
You guy's are giving the scammers a reason to keep on scamming!!
I've watched so many videos and stories, but I still don't understand how they can fall for this...
In the text message, it was typed "precise stones," which he misread as precious stones. That would have been one of the first red flags. I feel bad for this guy because he suffered a huge loss. Give him a lot of credit he came to terms with the scam instead of staying in denial. Wish him the best.
They're precisely precious 😂
Another thing. There is no way UK would let someone take a photo for a license like "she" sent him.
Yeah, I've never seen a driver's license photo, or passport photo from anywhere in the world like that kind of photo. It just screamed fake!
Do you think the UK would forget to use point number six? Lol.
"It's a man, BABY!"
@@MBoldman50 I know. That's why I put she in quotations
