Thanks for the heads up! Thought I had Dead Man for a bargain at £14 on Amazon. Managed to cancel in time and got it for £10 instead. One of Johnny Depp's most underrated films. Also added the Raging Bull 4k, so ended up with 2 black and white tittles, which I find tend to look amazing when restored properly
Just got in the mail today The Roaring Twenties Criterion Collection 1208. I've had the film for years in a Gangsters Box Set but I'm glad to get this 4K rerelease. P. S. In 1984 (Orwell lol!) I mail ordered from CA the first 2 Voyager/Criterion laser discs, Citizen Kane and King Kong). I'm 75 and still have them.
Great sale I picked up Destry Rides Again, Tootsie, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Fail Safe, Bottle Rocket, Being There and Tampopo for £10 each absolute bargains.
Thanks Elliot. I am so excited that I finally cleared out my wish list. I got 1984, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, Bound, Last Emperor. Now they have so many great new releases coming out to Make a new list with. Great recommendations.
@@ElliotCoen As I’ve already seen Five Easy Pieces and Risky Business, obtaining both of them on criterion was vital I can’t wait to rewatch them again alongside the others which will be first watches and the fact that they’re well regarded will only add more to the experience. In terms how many criterions I’ve got, it’s 30 which I’m pretty happy about.
So far, I bought All of Us Strangers, Happiness, Barry Lyndon, Le Samourai, and Perfect Days. Based on your recommendations in this video, I might have to get Night of the Living Dead and Raging Bull. Keep up the great work! I always look forward to your videos.
I made a trip to Barnes & Noble yesterday and I purchased four 4k's. I pick-up (Blood Simple) (Risky Business) (Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas) (Repo Man) which I recommend all of these titles and especially on 4k because all of them look amazing on 4k.
Managed to pick up Le Samourai, After Hours and the Infernal Affairs Trilogy as soon as I heard the sale is on, most of the titles were picked out and these were the last in store.
Well, I don't live in the UK or the US, so if I want to take part in this sale, I'll have to buy my discs from Amazon. Unfortunately, I don't see any mention of 40 or 50% off anywhere. Only the regular Amazon prices. And Criterion don't ship outside Yank-land...
If you're in Europe, try Rarewaves: they have the Criterion deal. Note that they often do a 10% off deal for a short while (they had one the past weekend) and that can stack with the Criterion deal. There's a good chance there will be another 10% off deal towards the end of the month. Amazon UK now has a bunch of Criterion discs with 30% off. (They initially had a bunch of Crit discs for 20% off, but then that offer disappeared.)
I went ahead and ordered the two films I was after when you first alerted us about the sale even though they were out of stock and HMV took the order so we'll see if they fulfill it. I just went back on the website and nearly everything is out of stock now! 😄
@@ElliotCoenDogfight has been dispatched! Just waiting now on the 4K of Risky Business although I do have a Blu-ray not criterion of that in my collection to fall back on if they cancel... 👍😎
I'm doing my best to catch up on their 4K releases. I am also holding back on some 1080p titles feeling like if I buy them the announcement for the 4K version is next month.
Hi Elliot picked up Freaks. Pinocchio and Risky Business from HMV the other day my dream pickup is that Ingmar Bergman box set that would be nice at half price. Another great video mate thanks.
Im glad you guys in the UK are getting a sale! Sadly i wont be participating because theres other things i wanted more. I finally picked up Cosa Nostra from Radiance! And Zodiac 4k will here soon enough. That basically covers my budget with holidays approaching. Cheers my friend!
I picked up the Criterion blu ray for Funny Games from a local Barn’s & Noble the other day. I have never seen the Austrian version of the movie but I liked the American one and it’s supposedly a shot for shot remake of the Austrian so I’m interested in seeing it.
Do you know if there was ever any explanation why Criterion used a slightly chunkier Scanavo case for the _Night of the Living Dead_ 4K as opposed to the older digipack packaging from the Blu-ray?
@ I read that it _might_ have something to do with the increased price of card stock too, but not sure if there’s any truth in that. Have noticed that with these multi-disc 4K packages that previously came in regular plastic packaging like _Double Indemnity_, the Scanavo cases are thicker than the regular ones used for the Blu-ray release, I imagine just to be able to fit in the extra 4K disc like you said.
Elliott I have all the Uk Criterion titles, so can’t do the UK sales, just got Gummo but I did participate in the last Criterion flash sale, got Pandora’’s Box, Demon Pond and Their The Long Good Friday, I used a service called Stackry really easy to use and they repackaged them as well.

Happiness is a film that is not easily forgotten. It stays with you. However I think it has one of the best final lines in any film I've ever seen

I picked up Raging Bull on 4k for £17.99 at the weekend 🎉
Excellent choice there, Jake 👌
Raging Bull 4K was a good deal for £ 17:99 if it was new. As on November 5Th I did not see it on promo in uk any where
